One of the things I really like about Calibre is that you can use it to edit a book. I’ve created books in another program that have needed small tweaks so I just open the epub up in Calibre, tweak the content, save and the revised ebook replaces the faulty one. I can then go to the file in the Calibre library folder and use it however I want. Perfect.

can you use it with kindle? if so does it work exactly the same as the kindle store? thanks

Great review. Calibre takes a while to learn how to use it, but its well worth it. Such a great product to offer free. Its the best format converter i have used.

Wish you had covered a bit of editing and book management capabilities.
For example, I have an app that allows me to select a collection of mp3 music files and populate their metadata automatically. From that point, I can rename the files to include some of the metadata...
Thank you for the video, love using it to upload books to my Kindle, rather than sending them through an email (yes, that's how it used to get your non-amazon e-books into your Kindle, and it always lacked the book cover), so thanks again.
I’ve never had a book cover missing when sending to kindle. It’s literally the easiest way to transfer books. Kobo needs Calibre though.

Most of my Epubs are not being received in my Kindle (it says they are 0 bytes).... Any idea what that is?

I have a very specific question, I converted all pdfs and epug files to mobi, so that I can read them on my kindle using Calibre. But no images were kept inside the pages of the books.. is there a solution to this?
I have about 600 books. Does Calibre have a folder system? Or is it only a list view?

When I import a book from my local drive (say, F:
ovels\SherlockHolmes.epub), and my library was created in G:\Elib), will it copy the document itself (i.e occupy twice the space) or just establish a file handle pointing to the original document?
I just checked my ebook folder which is 1.5 GB, and the Calibre output folder is 400 MB. So all I can say right now is that it will add about a third of your actual ebook collection size.
Hey,I loved calibre and ur intro!! One thing that I had a trouble with is that across chapters the calibre reader has a paged flow like as I am about to read the last few lines of a chapter and scroll a little it changes to the next page...any way to circumvent that??Thanks btw
I believe you can tweak this thing in the settings. there's an option in page layout to view the segments through scrolling or however you like

When i first started using Calibre and I download a book it would automatically show up in my Calibre program and I would just hit convert and convert it into a epub. When I download a book now it opens up in the editing window and I have to hit add book and go to my recent downloads and double click it from there to get it into my library before I can convert it. It used to show the cover of book but now has the icon with a blue book with a wrench across the book. Not sure what changed. It happened quite a few updates ago. Can you help me out with this problem??

Hi i have a greater problem... please help .... When I download any book in Epub format from 3party websites and then convert it to Mobi by Calibre... after sending it to Kindle .... the PAGE COUNT is showing WRONG.... for example there should be 300 pages, but it is shown near 2500 pages... and when I turn pages... each time it is turning like 7-9 pages forward.... how can i correct that issue which is frustrating and pissing me off???

Hi, can anyone help please. My Calibre Library has overnight gone from being a list of books to actual pics of books with Title, cover pic etc. I haven’t a clue how to get back my list format - I’m 78 and not terribly techie! I have used Calibre happily for about 8 years and this has never happened before. Thanks in advance for any advice. x
there isn't a software harder to use than this. I wrote myself some notes as to how to use it. And I did manage to use it before. But just now, don't remember the procedure even w/ the step by step I wrote

Just goes to show that the tutorial above is not comprehensive or complete. Almost all the videos on this subject lack one or the other functionality of this wonderful software.

Calibre is absolute garbage. When I try to use it then it just freezes and the title bar says "not responding". Much better options out there.
Is there anything currently better than this? I don't care if I have to pay for it, I just won't subscribe. I ask because once I invest my time in it, you'll need to move mountains to get me elsewhere.

You should start with downloading and installing the software before going ahead with explanation of how to use the software. Just Saying.
Calibre is useless now without the DeDRM tool.
Can I just say, I absolutely hate Calibre. It has changed all my Word files so that every time I try to open them, I have to do so through their god awful software that looks like it was made in the 1980s. It is possibly the most un-userfriendly software I have ever used and I can`t get it off my computer. Use an alternative and save yourself the hassle of this shit on the sole of the devil`s shoe.
Every time I convert a pdf in caliber, the ePub shows duplicates of my cover. When I delete one, they both disappear, and then the first text page ends up duplicating. So frustrating. Any idea what the problem is?
