I started using Love and Logic classroom techniques my first year teaching in a behavioral classroom. Administrators and veteran teachers couldn't believe how efficiently my classroom ran and were always asking my advice. Now I have a 3 year old and am employing the parenting techniques. It requires a lot of dedication and consistency, but it's worth it. It's disappointing to see negative comments from people who have clearly only watched a clip or two rather than learning the entire method.
What if someone actually did steal the coat? Some kids are cruel that way. I personally would go over every single thing with the child and then say, "Go look around for 10 mins and see if you can find it, and if you can't I'll help you".

I think that if you show enough empathy and offer lots of help and advice, they will feel empowered when they go off to sort out the problem.
Bootsie, I totally agree and I have a 3 yr old walking in the love n logic as well!
This is a fantastic parenting technique; we took a class in MT and benefitted greatly!
I could see this working for discouraging tattling too.
Start with basic essentials: food, clothing and shelter. Everything else you earn as a team.
@vaunderbroad We are happy it works for you! Thx for sharing!
My son says, "Good Luck!? Whaaaat!?"

Too bad the ENTIRE world can't adapt this.
