trying this in wow classic era as a new player. Was concerned itd hurt my dps if I am grouping but I think the key may be to try and time it so I deliver the killing blow on a monster so that I can get the remorse buff.
Yo mate, this is exactly what I’m looking for. Why would you play combat if you’re a rogue? We’re playing it because we can be invisible, and this build is purely made for stealth. Thanks, buddy!
I've always thought about mixing up combat and sub. People usually go assasination and combat for pve and ambush with sub for pvp, by then what about mixing up the two outliers
Trying to make this work...could you give me a basic example on a mob of equal level how you would go about using skills? I use ambush, auto a few times let energy come back, garrote into backstab, typically use one hemo and then eviscerte to down a mob. I find this all works well for equal level range, and especially if they are humanoid as undead I can just cannibalize if I am taking extra damage etc but I am wondering if my approach is right or if anyone else has input.
I usually ambush -> gouge -> backstab -> hemo -> gouge -> backstab -> eviscerate. If the mob is a caster they usually do not even require this much and die in a few skills. I don't use kidney shot too much until rank 2, but you can do Ambush-> gouge -> backstab -> kidney shot -> backstab -> backstab also.
I like the idea of not using swords also ! Seemed so plain to me as I love the dagger specs , I’m rocking a ass/sub hybrid that just melts mobs and does great in pvp!
Love the work you have put into this build! I have leveled a rogue many times and never thought of this type of leveling strategy. Just one thought, instead of going all the way up to hemorrhage, wouldnt it be worth stopping at serrated blades or even ambush and start going into the combat tree faster? I mean you miss out on prep, but combat tree got so valuable talents like imp gouge, imp backstab and blade flurry and instead doing Sinister strike instead of hemorrhage? You have the experience of this build so would be awesome to hear your thoughts about this!
Hemo is really good if your weapon swap and prep is broken in pvp. If you are not pvping at all while leveling you can go to combat faster, but since you are so close to hemo + prep it is worth to get them.
Any tips on what skills to learn at the rogue trainer? What are the MUST HAVE skills for this build and what can i save for later? Learning all the skills is draining on the gold lol
Backstab, ambush, Sinister strike, stealth, kidney shot, eviscerate, Sprint, and slice and dice. And of course pick up vanish cheap shot and blind. I would recommend picking up rank one of these skills but you do not need to get the further ranks: gouge, kick. You use nearly every Rogue skill at end game, but those are the skills I would suggest you get for leveling.
Is it worth to rush Malice before dagger spec if u don't mind having blade flurry? Because Dagger spec crit don't apply to say Hemo /special attack's when using a slow MH , sword
Are we 100% on the choice of taking increased damage over better stealth, on a build that requires you to be in stealth and getting up close to mobs to be effective? I'm not super sure I agree with that.
@@OGgangsta32im doing this build and 2-3 shotting each mob (same lvl) that makes it so my distract is only up for every other mob. I have some points in imp stealth and its a huge time saver when mobs turn around suddenly
Not as good as you would think. The vanish will stop some of your auto attacks. Negating blade flurry. If you want to do openers like that you can play Cold Blood daggers or seal fate. Either way you can Cold blood the evisc at the end and do a lot of damage. Also both specs have talents that can increase the amount of combo points you generate with ambush.
I don't get the Blade Flurry part if you are bursting down single targets. Doesn't seem like it would get much use to me. It's just a white damage speed buff that stacks with SnD and you white damage one other target. Seems good for sword rogs, but would it really help a dagger guy?
While leveling it is definitely worse than swords, but at ~55 when you get it, you are likely going to be doing a lot of dungeons, and it's really food in there.
It doesn't get much more devastating and satisfying in PvP to ambush, backstab, gouge, vanish, ambush, prep, ambush, backstab. If you pull that off, they won't survive. Cloth wearers will rarely survive half of that sequence.
Currently l42 works really well if you are geared/overleveled. I have pretty much no downtime by ambush into gouge into backstab/ evis. you get hit twice per fight.
Would you make any changes to the leveling talent order for Classic Hardcore? I’m wondering if I should pick up any points of master or deception or not for Official hardcore or not. Thank you.
Depending on how many physical damage dealers you have it can be worth keeping up. A good rule of thumb is to use it if the debuff is expiring due to the 30 charges running out. That way you know the effect is being used.
Love the build. I just specced this at 40 from Combat swords and see how fun it really is! Why take improved backstab though? If you open with ambush, you cant get behind your target, right? Or am I missing something? Its my first Rogue.
I love this build, having a ton of fun with it. I'm interested in your opinion on this: what do you think about picking 5/5 dual wield spec instead of dagger spec? would that help to shift the build a little more towards pve? pros and cons? Thank you very much.
Keep in mind you only have a 20sec window for 40% bonus crit so exposing yourself will happen if you want max crit if your higher level your better off with cold blood daggers imo but this is pretty cool for lvling/world pvp defense at the same time considering everyone says combat for lvling I actually like this idea I’m just saying it does have its cons
Zatar true true im am actually in a pickle which is why I’ve come to your video I really like this idea everyone says go combat for leveling but I prefer a spec that involves good dmg but also world pvp defense to hold your own. What tree would you recommend I choose for that ? I’m lvl 13 and haven’t spent any points yet was considering going for remorse killing 2/2 first what do you think ?
I can do it easy on mage I do a mix of shatter and aoe stuff Incase I wanna aoe grind but still defend myself in pvp trying to do the same with rogue but I’m just not knowledgeable was thinking of doing dagger cold blood
Zatar you mention a good point tho about switching to swords after you use a dagger opener... is using a dagger and sword even a thing ? Like switching them out for when you ambush and back stab ? Then go back to 2 swords for sustain ?
The weapon swap it's something I did all the way up till 60. You can make a macro that switches to a dagger before backstab, and macros that switch to sword before Sinister strike. Put /equipslot 16 swordname Before the ability. For main hand, slot 17 is off hand. It really depends on if you care about leveling fast. The second rogue I leveled to 60 in classic was combat maces. You can pick up some really good maces on the auction house, actually much cheaper than swords. The mace spec Talent starting in the 30s actually makes you much better in PvP while still having all the pros of leveling as combat swords. It's also more fun imo.
Is it with this build fastest weapon in maindhand and slowest in offhand or otherway around? And what poison do i use on which weapon? really couldnt figure it out
You want the weapon that has higher weapon damage in the main hand for more Ambush damage. I usually use double instant leveling. If I'm fighting Elites I will use double crippling for kiting
Orly, great, thanks man! Very good job. Waiting for your vision about dagger spec pre raid and end game ( backstab /ambush / hemo ) please. Give u a cookie 🍪
I'm pretty curious about this spec as I'd like to level a rogue alt at some point. What's the play style for mobs? Do you just ambush and then switch to your sword and use hemo?
It changes depending on what you are fighting and what weapons you have, which makes the build fun. If you have a good slow weapon, you swap to that after ambushing. But you also can gouge and backstab. It feels slower, but you have to bandage and eat less since you're going to take less damage. Once you get improved backstab you will pretty much only switch to a slower weapon if there are two enemies on you.
Combat daggers is not very good for leveling. Without the improved ambush, you are going to just be slower than combat swords. At level 60 combat daggers is great though.

Hemorrhage is really good in pvp, because it is the cheapest combo point builder in the game. This also means it is good for a dagger build while leveling, because you can build combo points really quickly for a kidney shot, so that you can get to backstabbing quicker. Also, against elites/high armor enemies and when dueling Warriors, Paladins, and Druids, you use rupture. So the Serrated Blades talent is not wasted.

@@Zatar Hemorrhage is a bad talent to take for daggers as is Ghostly Strike. Those are attacks that aren't normalized so they benefit from slow, hard hitting main hand weapons like a sword or mace. You'd be better off using a weapon swap macro to start with a hard hitting Ambush and then swap to a slow main hand to continue from there.
Here are the reasons I take hemorrhage: 1. I use rupture in PvP and against high armor enemies, so serrated blades is decent. 2. In PvP I want to build combo points asap and hemorrhage does that and makes some combos possible that you can't do with sinister strike. 2. If I have a decent slow weapon, I swap in combat. 3. Even with daggers, hemo does more damage than sinister strike for the energy cost if you are not spamming it, and you alternate in some gouges/kidneys and backstabs to effectively use the debuff. Hemo is worth getting, even for daggers, but you have to use it differently.
Ambush build isnt that great in lvling. The fact that stealth is so bad in lowlvl and mobs move much, u waste much time in position yourself for an ambush. Riposte combat swords is way faster. The only situation where this build is better then combat swords is grinding neutral mobs like turtles. But anyway good video.
I weapon swapped while leveling with a macro to get the most out of hemo when it wasn't worth backstabbing. I reccomend you do the same.

You'd be better off using a weapon swap macro to start with a hard hitting Ambush and then swap to a slow main hand to continue from there.
Here are the reasons I take hemorrhage:
Hemo is worth getting, even for daggers, but you have to use it differently.
just some guy rambling about talents not showing how this actually works in world
Get out of here with your non comment. This is a true build and as a fellow vet, this guys knows what he's talking about.
Audio too low cant hear
Jon Ferguson Try turning your volume up knucklehead. I have it on 20 percent volume and I can hear him just fine.
Its not about whats better. Its about providing an alternative play-style for people that don't want to play as a glorified warrior.
