Under 'MIDI to", I had 'Launchpad' selected as output and the default of "chanel 1" selected. I changed the chanel to 'Chanel 5' and now i have LED feedback!! on my PC, I would get LEDs on chanel 1 so i never noticed this... I'm surprised more people haven't run into this problem especially with the all the YT videos that don't mention 'chanel 5' when explaining how to get the coveted LED feedback in USER 1. Thanks for your help man.
I recently had the same problem. Have you tried this - On the MIDI track that is running your LED feedback where it says "MIDI to" there is a "channels" tab that defaults to "All channels" sometimes you have to set it to a particular MIDI channel - usually 5 or 6. I'm not entirely sure why, because it used to work fine for me set to All channels, but I guess maybe an Ableton update or something changed that.
Cool! I thought that the only one that was able to get connected to the ipad without a usb powered hub was the mini launchpad so i was sad about the size of the buttons on the mini version. Thanks for the great info about the hardwear:)
Thanks for the comparo. Why they had to downgrade from sleek black is to dishwater gray is beyond me. Removing the arrow from the buttons I also hate when they could have shrunken down the outer border instead.
I switched from PC to MAC and now my Launchpad (not S), is not working the same as it did on my PC. LED Feedback no longer works on my new macbook pro (never had a LED Feedback problem when i used it on my PC). You're obviously very knowledgebale and I hope you can help me. I'm hoping to eradicate the problem i don't have to upgrade to an S or dish out more money for a PUSH. I'm hoping this problem isn't bc my new macbook isn't too advanced for regular launchpad. Please help. thanks
Hi, I have Launchpad Classic and when I switch to "User 1" there is no light-up pads. Do you use some other than original drivers/Ableton scripts, Max4Live or some other settings?
so the only real difference is you can use it on your iphone and has brighter lights and looks slightly different. what would you say is better value? (I think the original is around £120 whilst the s is £140)

Nick The Dutchlander The size, and feel of the buttons (not to mention the price) make it a better value for me personally. However, if you're more of a finger drummer the bigger buttons on the S might be better.
I think the S is a better value. Simply for the lack of rolling shutter on camera via the LEDs in it if nothing else. I don't actually think they're producing the original anymore. So, if you're able to find one and the differences don't matter to you, go for the original.

do you notice the flickering in person or is it just on camera

If I want to start out to make my own mixes should I get a launch pad or is there a better place for a beginner to start?

This was very helpful because Novation's website doesn't explain much besides the Ipad compatibility.
