Yes. I'm not sure what software you have to use, but once you record the sounds, you just save them as a sound file and import them as a sample into Ableton.
When I load the file, I can get the launchpad to start the clip when I press the pad but the clip is not stopping as soon as I release the pad. It sustains for the full length of the clip unlike your video where you press the pad and as soon as you let off the sound will stop. How can I fix this..? Thanks
I just bought the launchpad mk2 and im loving it! I was having quite a bit of problems getting my lights to work..(still working on it) but changing my MIDI TO to channel six seemed to get them to work. Im still brand fricking new and don't really understand why its different for different models but I would try cycling through the channels to see if you can get it. Oh and by the way that was an awesome tutorial (fast paced for a beginner but i learned a ton) . Thank you! Thumbs up
Thank you for your response. I solved my problem by selecting "CHANEL 5" under "Launchpad" on the "MIDI to" section. As soon as I did this I had LED feedback in user 1. The default is set to "chanel 1" on live 9. I'm surprised this issue doesn't come up more...
I do believe you are correct. I have an older launchpad and I can set it up to do everything that i have seen so far. The only thing I see different is it's brighter and controls FL out of the box, which could be set up before using Automap. I'm also assuming the documentation for this "new" Launchpad is the same as the old, nonexistent.
Hi, The various differences between the different versions of Ableton are explained on their website. However, to be able to recreate these edits and performances, you will need the Full Version.

Hi! I have a question. When I am using User 1 mode on my Luanchpad S and then pressing another button. the sound from the button I pressed before doesn't cut. I am using Ableton 9 Lite. I have created a drumrack too as in this video. I have tried to set the release to 1.00 and that worked well! But when I pressed another button It was being an edge on the sound until I adjusted the attack to around 30-40 ms so that's is solved now. Are you doing this or is it set to cut the sound automatically?

Hi I have set up the choke for the chords. Im still having some trouble as though as I cant work out how to get the samples to only play when the button is down.
I got a new launchpad mini for the holidays and I've been trying it out. I love the build quality and ease of use with Ableton live lite, but the button response feels off to me. First of all, the keys are not velocity sensitive, but I can get over that. My main problem comes with the launchpad's idea of what counts as a 'button press' and what does not. Pressing on the corner or edge of the pad yields a quick response with little pressure, but pressing on the middle of the pad will either cause it to rock back and forth from corner to corner or not produce a sound at all. The strange thing is that pressing on the middle of the pad causes it to compress just like a regular button, but no input will be received. What usually ends up happening is that either no sound will come out or rapid taps will take place as the pad rocks from side to side. Pressing hard enough on the middle of the pad can get it to work, but I'm afraid that I'll damage the lanchpad with that much pressure all of the time. As a piano player, the idea of being forced to play on only the corners and sides of each pad just feels downright wrong. Is this something that I'll need to get used to, or is it a problem with my launchpad?

Guys, I figuered out how to solve the problem with the light show: on the right side of abelton live 9, there are 6 small buttons, press the first one where it says IO and you get the menu he has in his video. Hope I could help you. Markus

My only question is how do you change like the parameters of the sounds as you are playing? Like how there is a sweeping filter on the chords in the beginning of the song.
why is their a delay after I hit a drum , sounds like the sample is playing twice or a slight delay on it, my sends are all the way down , each time I hit a drum it plays again after i already stopped? Thanks
How do you get the 'Routing and I/O' to show up? My version of Ableton isn't showing the 'MIDI From' and 'Audio To' section that's underneath the Drum Rack. I've Googled it and can't find anything on how to enable it. Using Ableton Live 9 Suite 9.1.1 64-bit.

Dont know if you figured this out yet, but Novation says on their website, that if you are using Live 9, in has to be set to CH 5... Not channel 1, like older versions of Live. It was frustrating the hell out of me. Hope it helps man.

Yes, it is a basic ableton live thing. You need a midi controller for this performance only but like the new launchpad is the old one with brighter LEDs.
PLEASE HELP! I drag the clips into the drum rack but when pressed the whole clip plays, even if i have pressed another pad as well. This results in a terrible mess of sound. How do I get it so that the sounds are only played when the pad is pressed? Thanks

I downloaded Ableton Live 9 Lite, and registered thanks to the code I got with my Launchpad S, but steel my version looks different. Is there any way I can upgrade my version or download another one? I have to set "MIDI To" to Launchpad Output Channel 5 to get feedback lights, not like how it was done in the video, with the default channel 1. Hope it helps anyone who's experiencing problem setting up the lights.

make sure its on warp/complex pro mode and play with the formants (or turn them all the way down)

make sure that no audio effects are on the MIDI track.
Click the "I.O" button next to the master fader on the bottom right corner to show I/O settings.

Check your envelope, specifically the release. In Live 9 it's defaulted to 60s in simpler.
