Thanks, guys.. this is one of my favorites by Bob... so evocative of a time & place... especially love the break.. "woke last night to the sound of thunder...".. appreciate your reaction!
Check out Roll Me Away, Like a Rock, Turn the Page, Still the Same, Sunspot Baby, Hollywood Nights and many more hits. Bob Seger is a DEEP rabbit hole and he was a hit maker!!
I'm 67 and I don't recall any outcry against this song. I liked Bob Seger but wasn't a huge fan. The wide variety of music back in the 70s was insane. So many different genres of good music to choose from.
This came out in the 70s, so for those of us who survived the 60s nothing was shocking about this song. Also while he uses a coming of age experience as an illustration, this song is not about teenage sex. There is a phrase toward the end that puts this into its intended meaning. The line is this "Ain't it funny how the night moves when you just don't seem to have as much to lose. Strange how the night moves with autumn closing in."
It's November now and almost Christmas time. I hope sometime between now and Christmas day you'll react to Bob Seger's version of "The Little Drummer Boy". Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Nobody I knew thought of it as being a taboo subject in a song. We were pretty much living that way and any of us could have written it if we had thought of it and had the talent. 😀
So isn’t just about being young and exploring sex. It is about growing up in general. Going from young and gonna live forever (the summer time) to (autumn rolling in) getting older and remember those days and how fast time goes by
I was a teenager when this song came out. I didn't catch the meaning. At least, I don't recall understanding the lyrics until years later. "Sitting way up high." Probably thought he was talking about a teacher telling a student to sit up in his chair. 😊
No, this song was never considered provocative or taboo. Rock and roll as a whole was for "that" judging portion of the social environment. Any thinking person recognizes this as an honest reflection of coming of age angst and ceaseless wonder about life and our place in it. Why should it be that conversations about human sexuality and personal growth are avoided at all? It is the listener with the issue, not the performer in this case.
I am not sure what that was playing on your screen when u took the break, but I do know that it draw my attention so much that I literally missed every word ya'll spoke
Revelation 21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
We are all impure. That is why we need Jesus. I heard a famous TV pastor give a sermon a couple of years ago and he mentioned how if we tried to get to Heaven just because we think we are living a Godly life it is no more than a filthy rag to God.
Seger is one of my all time favorite performers..Great songwriter/musician/artist..That said, i also see the "requestor" (as i"ve seen before where the hosts are Christian) get a little thrill out of pushing against Christian values, to see how they react..must be a sad existence.. I realize youre adults, and have probably seen and heard much worse than anything Seger had ever written/recorded. Just be aware that there are rodents out there that'll keep pushing the envelope with much worse themed music in the future, just to see the response..

Grew up on his music , so a deep dive into his music you won't be disappointed
So many hits it is almost never ending, true goat!
With all this man's incredible music over the years he had only one number one hit. SHAKEDOWN from Beverly Hills Cop 2. CRAZY!
He was thinking of his younger days and the freedom and no fear of youth. With autumn closing in meant he was getting older. I know the feeling.
So many memories lol, the sneaking into the drive-in in the trunk of the car & such...70's and 80's were great times for teens 😁
He is one of the GREATEST STORY TELLS of all time! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great song!! I love your reaction ! Bob Seger was a big part of my teenage years...❤ Love me some Seger!

Do "Main Street" by Bob Seger
Its was just rock n roll kids!!
This was the way in the 70s.
Wait for Me
Beautiful song...still a favorite. Too bad you chose the cut version. There were a few verses missing.
The video is the short version, on the record the last 10 seconds are fire. Try another video and listen to the ending.
Fun fact: Bob was inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame by none other than Kid Rock.
Check out "Cocain Blues" by Johnny Cash.

This song for me is kind of sad , I don't pay much attention to the video. My interpretation is it's a older man alone and looking back on his youth.
Are you saying you never practiced any night moves when you were teenagers?
Rap sucks and it always will.
Nope wasent wuestioned at sll back then
Strange that you guys skipped your teens.
