True story: my grandpa bought this knife for like $10 at a flea market and gave it to me before he passed away, and I still have it and it’s in good condition, never gonna sell my baby
Thats super cool man, i recently loat the one i had for 7 years. Found it sitting on a rock while fishing. I'll be getting another, but this one won't be free lol
Finally got my order to go through about 5 minutes after 12 with a refresh at the order confirmation page. This is my first BHQ exclusive, excited to unbox it when it arrives. Keep up the great work BHQ!!!
lucky you!!! i wish i got my order i just get emails saying they are having nothing but problems honestly sounds like they are just giving me a bunch of excuses since everyone here are getting their orders no problems
@@shawnperry2811 There will probably be a bunch hitting the secondary market like ebay at inflated prices. Then you have people like me who don't like benchmade G10 that just want to get back what they paid.
I have used my 940 for hunting, picking horseshoes, boxes, paint cans, dry wall, traveling and even stabbed and killed a Rock Chuck with it. My 940 is a part of me now lol buddys til the end.
Today we got in a shipment of Benchmades at the gun shop I “work” at. One was the 940. I picked it up and started flicking it. It was so smooth! So yes I bought it and brought it home.
Thanks to BladeHQ and other RUclipsrs, I graduated from multi tools to dedicated Knafs, escalating very quickly. Ordered this to add to my quickly growing collection. Wife is going to kill me...
I just bought a 940-2 today. I got my first 940 around 2001. I had it for years and eventually lost it. I’ve had so many knives since then. Customs, Sebenzas and Hinderer etc. I’ve never really been satisfied. So today I decided to stop avoiding it and bought a new 940. I was gonna grab the original but the black G-10 and green standoffs spoke to me.
just be careful i never had a problem ordering until recently since the covid hit people are having problems ordering including me i'm still waiting for my item to ship its been almost 2 weeks they don't answer phone calls and emails are just a runaround
This is my first 940 and natural g10 knife so far so good rlly digging the feel of it. Only down side is that the scales won't get wear scratches like the aluminum one to give it character but i guess that's the trade off.
Have had my classic 940 for somewhere between 3-5 years and it was my first "high quality" knife. Used it just about everyday and im sending it in for sharpening for the first time this week. Thing is a beast. Will always be in my pocket.
I picked up a 940-2 a couple of days ago, it really is the perfect EDC for me. Light, slim, great action, Axis lock and the G10 scales have a nice finish to them. I swapped the clip for the Benchmade deep carry and it goes with me everywhere now.
I have the Bugout, mediator and the 940-2. Also have a Spyderco Para2. I can carry the Bugout and the mediator or the Bugout and the 940 in the same pocket and never notice them. Stuff the Spyderco in there by itself and I can’t hardly get my hand in my pocket. Can’t beat these Benchmade’s.
Just grabbed one today. I was always on the fence since I think my m4 contego is basically the same knife. But this exclusive made me pull the trigger. Hope it's awesome
I cannot wait for my 940 to come in. M4 and natural G10. I've been waiting for years to buy a 940 but just hadn't found the right one. I finally found the one.
I’ve been carrying my 940 for almost 5 years. It’s beat to hell and still works amazing. I can pry paint cans and other hard work that I can’t say I can do confidently with any other popular ETCs. I think it’s time to order another one as a back up because I can’t live without it. I might even by two more.
I've got a few of the BHQ Spyderco exclusives, this is my first BM...figured I might as well go with the iconic model! Love that BHQ still uses M4, it's becoming a hard to find steel these days. Can't wait for this to show up!
For reasons I've never really thought about I've never even looked at the 940 line. See it offered all the time on BHQ. After seeing/hearing the "ins and outs" of it,,,,I might glance at the line this coming wkend. 1 thing a knife has to be for me to buy it,,,, has to be a proper tool. My buddy who recently passed, swore by his 940, (which I eventually bought). He said the green worn down had the Boba Fet effect. Battle worn…. Miss you Colin!
Neat story: read the email about it becoming available but I thought it was tomorrow. Saw this notification, watched this video and then for whatever reason I went to BladeHq and saw it was available to order today. Ordered one and went back to that email and noticed the email was from yesterday. Doh! Was a pleasant surprise and didn’t have to wait a day to order like I thought. Order went through at 12 minutes after the hour with no problems of having to refresh. Can’t wait to get this. Been wanting a 940 for several years.
Love my Aluminum 940. As a bodyguard its a perfect mix I wear suits 940. Shorts n t shirt? 940. Its been all over the world with me. Really like the natural G10....
I have the tradition Benchmade 940 with the green and the purple spin and I love it I'm a knife collector as well as a everyday user of knives and its just a superb knife
I bought my 940 D2CF in 2003. I still carry it everywhere and use it all the time. The writing is long gone, but I recalled that it was "Prototype January 2003", but this video is making me think that it was "Prototype January 2001".
I just ordered a Osborn mini. I had no clue it existed and I had to pull the trigger when I saw it. It’ll be the first knife I ever paid more than $50 for
I bought the Bugout. (1st Benchmade ever) always carried cheap pocket knives until one day about 2 weeks ago I said screw this. Bought a Gray Bugout and then put blue scales on it. So about a week goes by and I decide I want an auto with an s90v blade. Ended up with the mediator in this situation because I couldn’t get the 9400 in s90v…..Then about a week goes by and I buy an Osborne 940-2 in black……So safe to say I’m hooked. Next I guess I’ll buy the new Claymore OTF auto that’s about to drop in 3-4 days. So thanks Benchmade for making me an addict. lol.
That BK-2003 is 🔥!! Full Ti and S90V is right up my alley. That price tag though...😬 I’ve only spent $400+ on 3 knives in my collection, and they sure as hell aren’t from Benchmade. They are: 1). My Microtech Troodon Signature Series Hellhound Blade in Carbon Fiber - $591 2). My CRK Large Sebenza 21 w/ Black Canvas Micarta Inlays - $550 3). My Chaves 229 Ultramar in Full Ti and Drop Point Hans Rubbed Satin Blade. (I know they were only $375 at launch, but I didn’t start collecting knives until recently and had to buy mine on the secondary market for $450 + shipping). I have a couple ZT’s (0562cf & 0450cf) and regular Microtech Ultratech’s as well, and they were all between $200-$300, so I’m not a cheap skate when it comes to my knives by any means (My next knife is going to be an M4 edition Spartan Harsey Folder🤤), but $400 for a Benchmade is just too much unless you are someone who just LOVES all things Benchmade. And that just isn’t me. That G10 and M4 BladeHQ exclusive is sure looking pretty good though!!!
I FINALLY pulled the trigger and bought my first 940 from blade hq. I’ve owned several benchmades (all from blade hq as well) but we’ll see if it ends up taking over my pocket more than the para 3.
it definitely will if you need it for heavier use and prying. You won’t regret worrying about breaking a tip and it has a great warranty if that ever happens
I gave my 9402 to my friend for his birthday and boy do I miss it. Just bought my first spyderco, a yojimbo 2. I think I may have to pick up another 940 but I'm waiting on benchmade to make this one customizable on their website. They'd make bank and satisfy a lot of people.
Cool knives but I loose EDC knives too often and I can't afford to get upset when I do. So I just keep cheap 2-3 Kershaw on hand and when I lose one I just grab a backup and reorder another. I also abuse my work EDC and use them as tools for anything they might work for but possibly damage them... and I like that I can do that with them. My "off work" EDC is higher grade and I would consider these knives for that. Very cool knives!
Great knife. My girlfriend (now wife) gave me a green 940 15 years ago. Carried it every single day. About two years ago it went missing. The only place I can think of it being is in Mobile Bay as it must’ve snagged onto a cast net that I was throwing. I couldn’t thrown up when I realized it was missing.
So I like the classic green 940 but I know the different variations have higher end steels. If I really like the green is the better steel a big enough difference to skip out on the green that I like.
I got the email and then watched 20 videos on RUclips about the 940. Ordered today! Stoked 🤘Thanks for the BM cleaning Pad! What is the reasoning behind no deep carry pocket clip?
My guess on the split spear pocket clip is that it was the first design calibration benchmade did with Warren Osbourne. They said that is why benchmade chose it as the pocket clip on 9400 in a past video.
I used this knife to clear a jam on my M14. It broke a tiny piece off the tip but it’s been sharpened enough now that it’s almost gone. Fantastic knife.
As with most Benchmade knives....what the 840 still lack are "full metal liners" under the scales (e.g. Barrage Mini). If Benchmade started putting out 840's with the full mettal liners I'd order a 840 so fast.... I wonder if there isn't some company out there who are making full metal liners for Benchmade knives (w/ longer screws) we could add to 930's, Bugouts, Prisido 2's...etc....any Benchmade folder....
