For what the bug out is, it’s way too expensive. It should be less than $100 for what it is and I know people are going to be mad at me, but there’s knives that have the same materials that are less than the bug out and that are way better than the bug out, the bug out was way cheaper like less than $100. I might buy one.
if they should start selling s30v knives at 62 hrc, i would be ok with a 180 quid bugout. but not at 58-59 :/ for this price, i would expect hard magnacut (63+, not just on paper, but really hard MC)
@@mikeappleget482 i’m talking about the cheapest version of the bug out that’s still like $100 and that knife does not feel like $100. It should be less than $100 cause I can get a knife like the bug out the cheap version for cheaper, but it’s way better built.
@@imiszasz2442 a few days ago I saw somebody test a bunch of different knives and I was shocked when I saw Benchmade’s S30 coming in a hair over 58hrc. Even the budget brands were hitting 60 - 61hrc on their S30.
I have to agree. I got a mini bugout for like $190 and a para 3 a few weeks later for about the same price and i then had major regrets with the mini bugout. Its nice but its only s30v with a plastic handle. Should be about $80 not $190. I got caught in the hype and brand name. I've been more impressed with civivi knives, especially for the price.
The Bugout may make people wonder about the price for what you get. What you get is bedrock reliability in a folder that slips into your pocket and disappears until you need it. It should be the first knife in any collection for users who do not regularly use knives for work. If you buy it early, it may save you from buying a bunch of other knives that will just sit in their boxes or in a desk drawer. Usability and portability make the Bugout my most regular daily carry.
The Bugout is an optimized light weight knife. I've been carrying a Delica since the late 90s and it has never let me down. If you look at the omega spring on the Bugout vs the spring on the Delica you know which one will last. Lately I've been carrying a Meadowlark which has a terrible handle because sometimes other people will trash your knife
@@raul0ca I love the Delica. It was one of my very first knives, and it has the best ergonomics for my hand. It just melts into the grip like butter. I agree with you about the movement on the Delica. Even when you slow-roll that open, there's a reassuring clack that sounds like a percussion instrument.
@@Cletus_the_Elder Haha I do cheat on Spyderco and buy ESEE non-folders and survival kits. Nothing like going out to the middle of nowhere and trying a survival fishing line or route finding with a tiny compass and map

Thanks Sara you clearly know your stuff. Sharp blades all.
The MSI should definitely be on this list, I really hope someone makes micarta scales for it. For the Spyderco’s the Manix and Manix XL should now be rated higher, stronger lock, much better value. Especially the crucarta versions being the same price as the base para 2 and 3
Can we make a petition to get spyderCo to put more ball locks like on the manix 2 it’s my favourite lock they make and I’d love it on other Spyderco platforms.
No. I like both. But I will give you I like the compression lock more for sure, it’s just much nicer having a proper detent. I also very much like the new Vosteed button compression lock, the new raccoon with it is amazing

I think its the hype and when a knife cannot live up to that. For me it was the CRK Sebenza. It is nowhere nearly worth that price. But what IMO kills it, is the clip. And yes, some people love the clip, but I don't. Too sharp, too grabby (I actually lost my CRK on the first day because the clip snagged on something and it pulled the knife out of my pocket without me noticing. Fortunately I found it again)
I ordered one because everyone said how wonderful it was. And I got my hands on it. I felt like it really sucked. It was light. The scales were very flexible and it just did not strike me as a good tool. I will sometime carry it when I go to the gym because it is light sits on my shorts without any difficulty.
😂 if all you need is an omega spring just call Benchmade and once a year they will send you a replacement part for FREE.... That's dumb on you for just letting it sit and coming on here complaining about you being lazy

I think the iridium is a better knife for this list than the Sebenza. I've handled Sebenzas and other Chris Reeves Knives, and honestly I don't see the hype at all. A frame lock is way down on the list of locking mechanisms for me, the price is insane, and it doesn't feel like they are doing anything exciting or new. I know its USA made so the cost goes up, but if the features don't match up, I'm going to go with something else like a Kunwu where the materials and construction feels as good as a Sebenza, they are incorporating new locks and designs, and it is less than half the price. I'm glad Chris Reeves is successful and recognize that he has beeng making knives for like 30+ years, invinted the frame lock, and probably was directly pivotal in helping create the modern pocket knife industry. However, it feels like he was successful when offerings did not really exist from other companies and now he is coasting on that. He makes so few knives, that people want them because they are rare, and is years behind what other brands and makers are doing.
