What a nice, warm video. With your positive attitude you will make friends in no time =). Have a pleasent stay here in germany =).
There is a huge difference between being alone and being lonely.
The best way to find a friend is to be one...
I guess I should try to reach out or open my mind more to the people first...!
@@chigira23 i really enjoied your video but felt a little sad, you seem cool and i hope you find someone to laugh with :) i'm 100% sure
@@marrrselmototv2190 Thank you 😭✨ I hope so too 🥲 Pray for me 🙌🏼
I hope you will be able to find a group of friends soon. I know it can be hard to start from basically zero in a new place, but once you get a place in the heart of a German you will have a friend for life. Easiest thing to do to get to know people is probably to join a club or finding an activity you really like and searching for groups of people doing the same thing via social media. I am not sure if it is still a thing but especially facebook grorups helped me a couple years ago finding people to go hike with and have board game evenings after moving across Germany. I hope you will find likeminded people soon, you certainly seem to be awesome!
I see!!! I'll check the Facebook group🤔 Thanks for your advice😭✨
Those interactions with the shopkeeps were so wholesome. And I'm glad you liked the foods.
By the way, the secret ingredient to staying warm at the christmas market is first of all, there isn't one. You'll be cold. But you can mitigate it by not staying in one place too long. In larger cities, there are often multiple smaller satellite markets that you can walk to to keep yourself warm.
This video was super cute! I love how you just do things on your own, it's defintely underrated here lol. Much love and greetings from your cousin in law 😂🥰
Thanksss M 🤗✨ I knooowww! Why is that??🥹
@@chigira23 Hmm, it's just socily not established as a "normal, daily thing" to do a lot of things on your own. You grow up within going everywhere with friends or family. I mean I can only speak from my perspective, but it seems a bit awkward or challenging to do things fully on your own, since it isn't really that commen (it obviously depends on the activity and from person to person). And why that is the case, well idk 😂 Maybe the thought of facing things in your own or not having someone to trust and lean onto if something doesn't work out feels unsettling to many. Well those are just speculations 😅🤷♀️

Its just about social life/needs, community and making experiences together to share with someone. I personally rather dont go out than doing it alone usually
Another (antiquated) word for potato in German is _Erdapfel,_ which translates into "earth apple". Also there is a regional dish which is called _Himmel und Erde_ (Sky and Earth). It is mashed potatoes mixed with mashed apples (or apple sauce), and the name of course derives from apples growing high up in trees, in the sky, and potatoes growing in the ground. It is usually eaten with fried _Blutwurst_ (blood sausage). Not everyone's cup of tea for sure, but many Germans like it.
I love that it's called Himmel und Erde. In the netherlands a dish of mashed potatoes and mashed apples (often accompanied by some kind of pork) is called "hete bliksem" aka hot lightning because the apple pieces in the mash retain heat much better than the potato and impatient eaters might burn their tongue.
Here we also eat fried blood sausage with fried apple. I particularly like it with the apple variety named Goudreinette (aka Belle de Boskoop).
@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118Oh yeah, I haven't eaten that dish since I was a kid ... I forgot how easily you can burn your mouth really badly, if you are not careful.
You're adorable xD the video was really enjoyable DE
I hope you've made some friends in the meantime. I do like to go to places just on my own as I can take my time and do what I want but I also enjoy being with others and share the experience. 💖 And yes, apple and potato go really well together. You should try mashed potatoes with fried onions and apple sauce - sooooooo good!!! 🥰💖😋 Thank you for the video and I hope you're good 😊
I felt the christmas market taste in my heart watching this.❤ start talking to people and you will get in contact. Most people are nice and excited to practice their English with someone so skillful like yourself.
Yes, most of them were super duper nice in Germany, which I really appreciate!:)
I'm an American in germany! I'd love to be your friend if you're in the Würzburg area. I know it's really hard to make friends here. Germans are nice but it's hard to make that step.
That's so sweet of you, my heart melt...🥹🫠 Yes, German people are most of the time so nice... I'll keep going!
The best way to find friends is to join a club (Verein). Germany is the country of clubs. No matter what you are interested in (not only sports) you will find a club in your area for sure. Ask in the town or community (townhall) which clubs exist in your town and you will for sure find one that will fit. 🙂
That's true.... I do bouldering so maybe I'll look for some bouldering club around here!
Kartoffelpuffer are really simple to make. Get potatoes, not the starchy kind, the other ones.
grind them and then squeeze the liquid out of them inside a kitchen cloth. Add salt&pepper and a little bit of all purpose flour (that would be Type 405).
Form flat pieces and fry them (on slower heat than full blast) in oil in a pan until brownish on both sides.
Apple sauce (Apfelmus) you can get at any supermarket.
It's a simple and ez dish. You can also find them in the freezer section convenient.
You forgot onions. Also grinded of course 😊
@@clash8181 Indeed I did forget onions. Thanks for correcting this error.
Thanks for the receipe! That's so sweet of youuuu. I'll ask my partner if he can make it for me😝
I would also eat them with my hands :D
Also a huge fan of mushrooms and Reibekuche with garlic sauce. I already miss the christmas markets a lot.
Sadly i don't live near you, i would enjoy going somewhere together with you ☺ i hope you made some friends by now?
Team mushrooms and Reibekuchen!🙌🏼
sis getting lit with the glühwein 😂 love it
(#^^#)🍷
Some things are funnier together, like Christmas Market, because you can share the food and be able to try more food and drinks. BUT it's great to eat in a restaurant alone, or at a nice cafe and just watch the street. I appreciate my alone time. By the way, You are so great at english! Und Sie wechseln so schnell zwischen Englisch und Deutsch.
True! I felt like one portion of the food at the Christmas Market is perfect for more than 2 people. Agh I wish I could tried more kinds(>
Hi I just found your channel. I'm glad you like it in Germany. That potato pancake, however... I have never seen it with garlic sauce and I live in Germany since 62 years. We make potato pancake ourselves and you need just a few ingredients: Raw potatoes, a finely chopped onion, a pinch of salt, some flour and an egg to bind the stuff. Fry in a pan and serve it with apple sauce. I also like some fresh ground mixed pepper on my potato fritters after they are being served but that's a matter of taste.
62 years!? Oh so potato pancakes are USUALLY with apple sauce.... Good to know! Thanks for the recipe 🫶🏼
Hi, great video. The Kartoffelpuffer have onions in it too. that is what you wanted to know, i think. Take care
Ohhh onions! I see, maybe that is the reason why I tasted some richness in Kartoffelkuchen! Thanks✨
Great Video, thanks.😊
I always get the Krakauer Spezial with 🍟 at christmas markets. Sometimes frikadellen.
This is a cozy little market I dont know what region that is but looks south. There are so many amazing christmas markets especially the one in dresden. In NRW are many nice ones too.
Also if you look for friends, reddit is a place if you totally sociallyshy like I experienced most japanese and koreans to be. Otherwise go to a busy Bar or local outside events like Foodfestivals or smaller music festivals. Then drink a few beer and just start talking to some girls. Here in Düsseldorf are tons of Japanese people you would feel right at home and then still be able to meet a lot of germans through them. Most friends are made here at work, bars, social and sport hobbygroups, school/growing up together and of course half the time meeting friends of other friends
Hello from Germany. I am impressed how good you speak english and german.
And i like that you love our "Snacks" at a Christmasmarket. But there is lot more. 😉
Thank youuu! I'm already excited for next Christmas market 😋
Love your friendly personality and of course your video. Hope that you have now a few friends here🙏
The potato pancake is called "Reibekuchen" or "Kartoffelpuffer".
I also love the food at Christmas markets. But they are always so expensive. I found it sad that we Germans don't have the same restaurant culture as Japan. Wholesome video.
Christmas market is so expensive. I make these things myself at home. But thanks for showing. Arigato gozaimasu.
ahhhh Iam getting hungry now! A Bratwurst in a Brötchen and Mustard would be nice now.
Nice video btw
very nice video 🙂 Reibekuchen (potato pancake) I only know combined with the apple sauce. Garlic sauce might give it a more spicy touch but in my mind doesn't fit better. Inside I guess it was just potato, outside nicely fried.
Yeeees apple sause! I seriously want this food all year round!(; ;)
Hot apple wine is the best!
Also combining apple and potatoes is like a staple thing here in germany, like mashed potatoes and apple sauce
Blutwurst (saussage from blood) and potatoes and Applesauce is also VERY common! Have a pleasant stay. I really need to visit the Weihnachtsmarkt in Heidelberg aswell at some point!
Mashed potates and apple sauce!? Ohhh I gotta try that now🤤
@@chigira23Let me know how it goes 😂. I am personally not a big fan of that though.
That was fun to watch. Thank you for sharing your experience :)
This was so wholesome to watch your video. I wish there would be a Christmas market now. ^^
I agree! We need all year around version of Christmas market...!
Chigiraaaaa. Love the video!! You do know that they take Pfand on the mugs for Glühwein right? At least like 2 euros. I love the mugs a lot because they’re really pretty :)
Thanks J💚 Yeahhh later I found that fact! There are indeed pretty! But thinking of giving back to them due to limited spaces for cups😂 Do you want one?😂
Sure I’d love that! I’m not going to make it to the Weihnachtsmarkt this year unfortunately :(
Great video.
This is a very good channel! I hope it grows. Thank you for documenting your adventure in Germany to share with the world!
That's so sweet:) Thank you for watching(#^^#)
The only bad thing about it are the prices thanks to inflation rates. But otherwise christmas market are a must go to when visiting germany. and don't worry they are literally everywhere. cool video I hope you enjoy your stay here with us!
the mushrooms at christmas markets are my favorite!
i've never had the potato pancakes with garlic sauce though, only with apple sauce, interesting 🤔
I hope you like Germany and you quickly find good friends...
The reason why there was no table is that as a host you then have to pay 19% VAT instead of 7
Nice😊
You have a FRIEND HERE in Seattle Washington USA 🇺🇸 👨🏻🦰
Uhh. Heidelberg :) Did the Glühwein really cost 7€? I think the Pfand is included in that price.
Yes, later I found out that the Pfand was included!😂
I think I was on that Christmas Market on that same exact day. And I also went to the same "Wurststand" you went at the beginning xD
Wow maybe we met!?xD
@@chigira23 Idk, maybe xD
very cute and great video
Thank you 🤗
The recent increase in prices for the Christmas markets here is way too high!
Nice Video, lovely Woman, good Food.
Keet it up! :)
Thank youuuu😊💜
Is this Heidelberg? It may be that Germany all looks similar but I totally recognize this market!
Secret 🤫✨
A cup Glühwein, the next cup with AppleWine, next, next, next, i hope the way home was OK.... 😂
Mushrooms are the best from Christmas Market.
And no, there is no cheese in the potato pancake.
Thats a food that makes grandma's(mostly for his grandchilds) and its a very easy and fast food and you can have it in your garden(Apple, potato.... oil and suggar(sometimes in the sauce) is a problem 😉).
On the way back home was barely ok😂✨ I'm still alive💪🏼
ich behalte die glühwein tassen/gläser IMMER deswegen ist das zum teil auch so teuer :D
Ach Du hast die!!!!!!!
Wooohooo Heidelberg
I really wish going out by yourself was less weird in Germany. Sometimes you just don't have anyone to share a thing with but still wanna enjoy it ... but it's just a thing that feels odd here.
Agree!
And people seeing you think you antisocial sitting alone at a restaurant if you not 55+ for example lol
✌🏻
Thanks D😂🫶🏼✨
Lol at first i thought 7beuro with the deposit but
😅 when the verry cheep shrooms also where 7beuros i was like damn this is the most ecpensive christmast market ever
Oh it was with the deposit but still these shrioms thst unholy
If you have a hobby, there is a Verein for it. Join it and you will have friends quickly, because you share the same interest, which binds you together. ^^
They have hot Applewine in Heidelberg? I thought, this is only something for Hessen and close to it.
I think it's more Apfelmost...Not as sour as Ebbelwoi..🤣🤔
Die Preise aua.
Chrstmas markets without having company aren't fun. Make sure to persuade someone to go with you!
I'll make sure that next time 😂✨
Kartoffelgerichte sind schon gut, aber Kartoffel sind noch besser, wenn sie voher die Sau gefressen hat :-) ! Greetings from Bavaria.
Really!? xD
did not get the deposit?
In the end, I did!😂
Am i the first who klick the Like button? Your welcome. 😊👍🏻
Wonderful video 😄👍🙋♂️
