When drinking early, there is a Dutch saying. "It's 5 o clock somewhere". Apparantly its normal to start drinking at 5 PM (I guess cause thats the end of the work day)
Munich looks fabulous and you have captured the lovely buildings so well. My legs were like jelly when you climbed to the top. I am so impressed with your fortitude.
Yay! Why not!? 🎉 When I was in Munich many locals would head straight to get breakfast and beer immediately after church on Sundays. Loving the channel guys❤
LOVE Bavaria and München - so special! But nope, no beer for breakfast for me. Happily a Bretzel, though, and yes please to that cheese. Thanks for sharing your interesting and yummy day in Bavaria's capital with us!❤
Good choice to drink a Radler (with normal beer) or Russn (russian, with wheat beer) in the Hofbräuhaus. Radler means "biker" and was invented by bicyle riders who were thirsty but feared to get too drunk by so much beer. So they mixed it with lemonade.
The story is not fully true, here’s the whole story: The Radler was "invented" by one of Munich's great gastronomic originals, the landlord Franz Xaver Kugler. Kugler was actually a railroad worker. He earned his money on the Munich-Holzkirchen line, which was double-tracked towards the end of the last century. The work was hard and the nearest pub was far away, so Franz-Xaver Kugler came up with the idea of taking over the beer supply for his colleagues. From then on, he drove the beer to the construction site from the Deisenhofen station inn by horse and cart. Tired of the eternal back and forth journey, it wasn't long before Kugler built a wooden shack at the construction site which, under the name "Kantine der Königlich-Bayerischen Eisenbahn zu Deisenhofen" ("Canteen of the Royal Bavarian Railway at Deisenhofen"), took over the supply of the construction workers and, after the completion of the railroad line in 1897, was initially known as the "Waldrestaurant" ("Forest Restaurant") and was later renamed the "Kugler-Alm" ("Kugler Alm"). The Kugler-Alm, located around 15 km outside of Munich near Deisenhofen, quickly became a popular excursion destination. Whether it was sack races or gallop races, there was always something going on here. When the bicycle became increasingly popular after the First World War, Franz Xaver Kugler also had a cycle path built through the forest to the Kugler-Alm, a popular excursion route to this day. This idea was so enthusiastically received by the people of Munich that on a beautiful Saturday in the summer of 1922, 13,000 cyclists are said to have stormed the Kugler-Alm. The beer supplies could not keep up with this huge thirst! The clever landlord knew a way out: he mixed half of the beer, which was running low, with plenty of lemonade and served this new mixture to his guests as a "Radlermaß", claiming that he had invented this drink especially for cyclists so that they wouldn't have to ride home swaying. The Radlermaß quickly caught on in Bavaria and also found fans in northern Germany, where it was translated as "Radfahrerliter". As dark beer still dominated in Bavaria at the time, the "Radler" was originally a mixture of dark full beer and clear lemonade. It was not until the general change in consumer taste away from dark beer and towards light beer that this change also took place in the Radler, which has since been made from light full beer and lemonade.
@@heindaddel2531… Ich will unsere Amerikanischen Freunde nicht ganz konfus machen, daher hier nur auf Deutsch. The Bavarian had a Stein with a lid. This was developed to be used in open beer gardens. There you sit under trees in the summer. And to avoid anything lusting for a beer bath (go to Prague for that) getting into your drink the lid serves as a protection to allow only authorized access. So the Steins with lids are not really necessary for indoor usage.

Why are you not the size of houses? All you do is eat and drink delicious foods 😂 Adriana is so cute!!!!! Her wonderment is sometimes childlike and filled with fun and amazement at everything! ❤
You cut the Weisswurst lengthwise once, and then you can pull the entire skin off. You should’ve asked one of the Germans how to do it. The mustard is not spicy that mustard is specialty from Munich, and it is a type of sweet mustard that goes perfectly with those sausages.
What a great video. Takes me back to when I lived in Munich for a few years and every Saturday was a walk to the Viktualianmarkt for produce and cheeses!
Great video. Fun to watch. I have been to Munich a number of times and have never been to the Schneider Brauhaus. I always make it a point to visit the Hofbrauhaus (several times) but will definitely visit Schneider this visit. I also saw that they have Kristall Weiss beer on the menu. My favorite!!!!
Its always fun to see "newbies" discover my home town. Thanks, if you are still there or ever come back to Munich, try the Schweinebraten or better yet Schweinehaxe (so yummy)

So the thing with beer for breakfast is this. Usually, you don't have beer for breakfast, BUT if you have a Weißwurstfrühstück (a white sausage breakfast) which ought to be had by 10am you are supposed to have it with beer. If you rewatch the video, every other table has a white round bowl on the table. That's the bowl the white sausages are traditionally served in. Also those sausages are mostly fat and salt, so the beer won't hit you as hard. You usually won't see anyone having beer with, say, a serving of scrambled eggs... also why even go to a Bavarian inn for breakfast if you just want scrambled eggs? ;) But yeah, the breakfast beer here falls into the white sausage exception. Otherwise the first socially permissible beer comes with lunch :) Edit: btw. your pronunciation is ace! Very impressive.
Hahahaha that makes so much sense! She must have been confused by me getting eggs and beer 😂😅 We will make a note of this next time haha! I don’t eat meat so hence why eggs were a solid option! 😅 Thank you so much! I try as well as I can. It’s such a beautiful language 😍🇩🇪
Bräuhaus means brewery, or brew house. The Rathaus (actually the NEW Rathaus) was built from 1867 onwards and was finally finished in 1909. The clockwork was built in 1899.
Fun fact: the Spielzeugmuseum (toy museum) that was mentioned is located inside the old city hall (altes Rathaus) which is wayyyy older than the older and grander looking new city hall. The old city hall is from the 14th century and has actually a large banquet hall that is still used for special occasions.
Adriana deine Aussprache ist wirklich super und Dylan ist ein guter Schüler. Adriana, your pronunciation is really great and Dylan is a good student. Hehe danke schön!! We tried 🥹🇩🇪 Hehehe it really seems that way, beer is a staple and we could probably get used to it - it was quite delicious and seemed suitable at any time! 🤗 woah, that sounds extremely cold! 😅
Oh beer for breakfast?! Count me in. Being a nurse and working the 11pm to 7am shift a bunch of us would occasionally go to an “old man’s bar” in town and get beer (instead of usual coffee) that was our “5:00” time! ha ha in some places in the states we have beers made with either lemon or grapefruit. It’s odd but interesting. I prefer the one with grapefruit. All these places look like such fun. I’m sure I would really love to try out such as you 2 did. The architecture is amazing! The ending picture is priceless 😂. Thank you
Hahaha wow! I can’t blame you, after a long shift like that you deserve multiple beers! 🙏🏼😅 I used to work as a healthcare assistant in the hospital many years ago and finishing a 12 hour shift in the morning is horrible… anything to cheer up that situation is needed (I should have popped to the pub ❤️😂) Thank you so much!!
Hi new sub I’ve been loving your travels for a few weeks and I very much enjoy them, you two are awesome and loved this Munich edition wow those beers 😂. Also loving your Thai adventure too. 👍😊
A nice tour through Munich. I have watched many videos of Munich. But I never got so much detailed views as if I was there with you. Well done! I rarely drink beer. Mostly after workout with the group at the "afterparty". Actually I prefer Weizen and Berliner Weiße mit Schuss.
2:05 i really like your cute mixed order (English & German) :D. So cool to see you two in Germany and how your impressions are. I have never expected that as you have travelled so long through Asia.
Hehe we really really loved going to Germany together! It was Dylan’s first time 😍😍 hehe I attempted the best German I could, unfortunately im not fluent! 🥹🤗
Dein Deutsch ist super! Oktoberfest has been held in September for many years because it is usually warmer and sunnier. You're so nice. Goodbye! Auf Wiedersehen!🙋♂️
I had breakfast at Schneiderweisse every morning when I was in Munich for Oktoberfest. It helped in part with the hangover from being at Oktoberfest the night before.
.... by the way. The building in neo gothic style built in the early 20th century, is the New Munich Town Hall. St. Peter is just 100 meter to the opposite side of the square
Weißwurst -- a short story. As a U.S. Army bandsman stationed in Ansbach, Germany in the late 70s/early 80s, we traveled often. And supported U.S. Army exercises. To stave off public relations problems, we were called on to play "Platzkonzerte" in various places. For an entire week, we played in the morning and were invited to sample Weißwürste mit süßem Senf -- white sausages with sweet mustard. Let's just say that we got our fill of that particular food item!
the Glockenspiel at the Rathaus shows how the Schäffler danced in public during the plague signaling the people it was safe to be out in public again, guess we all can relate now after 2020
That was one of the best revisions of Munich I've seen so far! And as you probably know, there are a lot of them on RUclips! A big compliment! Very entertaining and detailed! Much love from Germany!
The cheese normally is called "Obadzda" meaning "the smashed one" while you cheese was named: "Ogmachta" which means "the made one". I suppose they are ot allowed to use the name as it normally is not sold in shops but prepared fresh and sold in restaurants.
Great video folks. I loved watching you both visit beautiful Munich. I love pretzels and all of the other goodies :). I love to visit Munich on my travels. I have some Munich videos on my YT channel as well. Btw, new subscriber here. I am looking forward to watching more of your travels:).
Your german pronounciation is excellent - much better than the regular inhabitants of Munich speak - I'm a Bavarian (from Munich) and german is our first foreign language
Aha thank you very much! Ah, hearing some people speak in Munich it sounded German but I couldn’t really understand, is the Bavarian accent quite strong? 😁
New to this channel, and as time permits, I am slowly making my way to the older videos. Wow, this video makes me want to visit the country I was born in. I love the expression "holy guacamole," which is much less crude or offensive than "holy sh.t," which is what I use to say when I lived in Canada. It's funny to hear Europeans use it as I hear it hear it frequently here in the United States, which is where I now live. Given that there are more positive comments than negative ones, we can chose to either ignore them or teach them not to be judgmental.
Yes in Germany people share tables in eating places. Often they are long tables with chairs. That cheese and pretzel looked really good. I think people just go to the popular places and eat things they presume are German when in fact the whole of Europe has similar versions of dishes with a slight twist. That is why they also say Bon Appetite. A little bit French isn’t it? You go to Poland and the food has more paprika but you still get dumplings and sausage.
I'm not a Bavarian, so I can't speak for them, but elsewhere in Germany only seasoned alcoholics start drinking beer at ten in the morning. Everyone else prefers a non-alcoholic breakfast with coffee instead of beer.
The bavarian cheese you were looking for is commonly called "Obatzda". Unfurtunenatly this name is an intellectual property brand mark owned by a single manufacturer due to recent jurisprudence. So every producer of the original "Obatzda"-reciepe has to work around with the naming. In your case you had "Ogmachter".
'"O'g'machter" means 'Angemachter' - 'add something to it' - take a small round piece of Camembert, slice it into small stripes, add butter and some spices like paprika powder, take a fork to smash and mix it all together, then add some very small sliced onion pieces to it and there it is. 🎉 Such a smashed and mixed mass is called a 'Batzen' i.e. O'batzter means 'smashed seasoned cheese with something added to it' - the amount of butter defines who creamy it is
@@JOKERLE21 this is a good use for a very ripe camembert. Also makes it easier to get it to the right consistency. I like it just smooth enough to spread, but chunky.
The origin of the Oktoberfest is a horse race organized by the Munich militia on 17 October 1810 in honour of the wedding of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (1786-1868, King 1825-1848) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (1792-1854). Thats the reason why it is called Oktoberfest. At 9 o'clock in the morning that is no longer breakfast, you can believe me that we also drink coffee and tea for breakfast, At this time of day, it's no longer breakfast but a "Brotzeit" (there is no english word for it but it is something like a snack between the normal meals)
Bräuhaus is just a word for "brewery" and Weisses is most likely refering to the beer type (light beer aka not dark beer) and thus the name of the restaurant (which probably has its own brewery) is the "White Beer Brewery" :)
Awesome channel ! Great content! 😍👍 Enjoyed watching all with advertisements👍🏻 😎😎😎 New subsciber here and waiting forward ! Greetings from Istanbul Turkey 🇹🇷💛🤗🙋
Hehe my grandparents on my mother's side were both from Germany! Growing up as kids we would speak German at home but when we moved from Sweden when I was 11 my mother was concerned that we would lose our Swedish (since we would need to learn English for school) so we started speaking Swedish at home (I am Swedish). So unfortunately, the German didn't stay fluent - but my understanding is still decent and I'm happy to hear that my pronunciation is still ok!
Beer for breakfast that’s a new one for me but you make it look cool. The people who have beer for breakfast here in NY….you don’t want to see that trust me 😂. Technically speaking Adriana tasted Dylan’s beer so that counts as having 2 beers for breakfast for you Adriana. 😂
The buildings look historic but nearly 50 percent of the city was destroyed during WWII. The Germans did a wonderful job of faithfully rebuilding their cities. You can see photos online of how these cities looked right after the war ended.
I lived now a very long time in Germany because I was born in Berlin 🙂 but I have never heard "Stein" for beer. I think it calls so in the "far west" of middle Germany (maybe Saarbrücken or Karlsruhe) Practically everywhere else in Germany you will receive a stone if you order a "stein".
Getting vegan food in the Weisse Bräuhaus would maybe be a challenge - but getting vegetarian food is easy. you should have tried the 'Obazda' or the Reibadatschi (potato pancakes) which are really typical 😉
@@2Passports1Dream I don’t doubt it-but in other parts of Germany you would eat very different things… like Franzbrötchen Tee Rollmops Kaffee Käse Wurst…
you can eat the skin of a white sausage but its very chewy and almost everyone peels it. The old traditional way is even eat it with your hand, dip the whole thing in sweet mustard and suck the meat out. But today only very few people eat it that way. Apart from that there are like a hundred ways to peel it. The Spielzeugmuseum is actually the old Town Hall that is now a museum for toys. It looks newer but it isnt.
If you eat a Weisswurst, you have to remove the sausage casing by cutting the upper side lengthways and push the sausage carefully out of the sausage casing without cutting through the lower side of the casing. Please find the explanation of cooking and eating it in the following video: ruclips.net/video/Hq8GdORSFbM/видео.html
Your german pronounciation ist almost perfect. Please forget the word "schtein". We have lots of stones in the Isar, but our beer we drink from mugs (Mass (=Masskrug)). Only Americans and a few villages in Badenwürtenberg know the word Stein.
Unfortunately, that's not true. In the north of Baden-Württemberg (Kurpfalz) and in Rhineland-Palatinate nobody says Maßkrug, here it's a stone. In the USA it is so widespread because of the thousands of US soldiers who were stationed right here in the region (Heidelberg, Mannheim, Kaiserslautern, Ramstein, etc.) Incidentally, this comes from the 1-liter mugs made of stoneware, i.e. 1 stone. We associate a Mass with Bavaria, but we have our own beer culture here.
I would love to visit Sweden and stay there for a while, but unfortunately this will probably not happen in this lifetime. BTW: Have you ever been to Cologne and seen Cologne Cathedral? That is a big one!
We haven’t been there yet! 😍 oh yesss Sweden is lovely, we are hoping to film there at some point and share it with people that can’t make the way over!

It's a lot of fun to accompany you virtually and to rediscover all the normal things for me with you.
So that you don't freeze so much anymore, here is some info for you:
Here it is currently -17°C with light snowfall.
Greetings from Kolari,Fi 👋cu soon, Kelsea
Hehe danke schön!! We tried 🥹🇩🇪 Hehehe it really seems that way, beer is a staple and we could probably get used to it - it was quite delicious and seemed suitable at any time! 🤗 woah, that sounds extremely cold! 😅
We cheer with a Wheat glas by touching the bottoms of the glasses, and look in each others eyes. 🙂
lol!
🙏🏼😅 I used to work as a healthcare assistant in the hospital many years ago and finishing a 12 hour shift in the morning is horrible… anything to cheer up that situation is needed (I should have popped to the pub ❤️😂)
Thank you so much!!
My kids would love this restaurant being they enjoy pretzels anytime they can get one.
Haha the pretzels were so delicious as well 😍😍
Hi new sub I’ve been loving your travels for a few weeks and I very much enjoy them, you two are awesome and loved this Munich edition wow those beers 😂. Also loving your Thai adventure too. 👍😊
Hehe thanks so much!! 😍😍 haha those beers were SO BIG but somehow so good 😂
@@2Passports1Dream and the heads of those beers 🤷♂️😂😎, can’t wait for more 👍😊
"I don't judge it, I just don't understand" beer for breakfast- love that!! 🤣🤣
Hahaha 😍
A nice tour through Munich. I have watched many videos of Munich. But I never got so much detailed views as if I was there with you. Well done!
I rarely drink beer. Mostly after workout with the group at the "afterparty". Actually I prefer Weizen and Berliner Weiße mit Schuss.
Thank you so much 😍 Happy to hear it!
your Pronunciation is on point ! hope u guys enjoyed your stay :)
Thank you 😊😍
2:05 i really like your cute mixed order (English & German) :D.
Danke schön!! 😍🙏🏼 That makes a lot of sense… it got cold FAST!! 😅 lucky we had some beers to warm us up hehe
I had breakfast at Schneiderweisse every morning when I was in Munich for Oktoberfest. It helped in part with the hangover from being at Oktoberfest the night before.
Hahah incredible! Can imagine it would take the edge off 🤗🍻
Such a wonderful video. All i wanna do now is go to Germany ❤
Heheeh we absolutely loved our visit 😍😍 incredible place!
Deutschland, wird oft unterschätzt. Gruß von der NORDSEE 😊
Me too to drink beer and eat those delicious meals.
what a lovely video 😍
Hahaha sounds so cool! 😍 sweet mustard is my FAVOURITE! I could have it on everything 😍
Hello! I watched your video and it was excellent. You and your boyfriend drank beer for 24 hours, even while driving. LOL!
Hahahaahha 😂😅 luckily not when driving!
the Glockenspiel at the Rathaus shows how the Schäffler danced in public during the plague signaling the people it was safe to be out in public again, guess we all can relate now after 2020
Oh wow no way??? So true!! 😅
Bavarian cheese usually have red paprika powder in them that’s what gives it the colour.
She really puts some efford into her german.
I try! 😀
That was one of the best revisions of Munich I've seen so far! And as you probably know, there are a lot of them on RUclips! A big compliment! Very entertaining and detailed! Much love from Germany!
Thank you so much!! 😍🤗
Good morning from Florida!!
Good morning!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
The cheese normally is called "Obadzda" meaning "the smashed one" while you cheese was named: "Ogmachta" which means "the made one". I suppose they are ot allowed to use the name as it normally is not sold in shops but prepared fresh and sold in restaurants.
Oooooh interesting!! Thank you! It was SOOO delicious - we’ve never had any cheese like it before 😍😍
I love this kinda videos, you absolutely rocked Munich as turist. I did the same 4 years ago and fell in love with Germany that now I live here
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it, too! 🥰
Great video folks. I loved watching you both visit beautiful Munich. I love pretzels and all of the other goodies :). I love to visit Munich on my travels. I have some Munich videos on my YT channel as well. Btw, new subscriber here. I am looking forward to watching more of your travels:).
Thanks so much!! Oh yes Munich has a lot of yummy foods! Germany, in general, was just such a wonderful place to visit
@@2Passports1Dream Oh yes, I agree :) !!! Great to hear form you both!! :)
You two are too adorable, honestly, lol.
❤️❤️
Beautiful place
Your german pronounciation is excellent - much better than the regular inhabitants of Munich speak - I'm a Bavarian (from Munich) and german is our first foreign language
Aha thank you very much! Ah, hearing some people speak in Munich it sounded German but I couldn’t really understand, is the Bavarian accent quite strong? 😁
We use another pronounciation and even some other words in our bavarian language
@@2Passports1Dream
New to this channel, and as time permits, I am slowly making my way to the older videos. Wow, this video makes me want to visit the country I was born in. I love the expression "holy guacamole," which is much less crude or offensive than "holy sh.t," which is what I use to say when I lived in Canada. It's funny to hear Europeans use it as I hear it hear it frequently here in the United States, which is where I now live. Given that there are more positive comments than negative ones, we can chose to either ignore them or teach them not to be judgmental.
Oh amazing 😍😍 haha yeah we try not to swear too much, keep it as family friendly as possible haha!
It’s really nice that the seating is a lot more social! Shame we couldn’t join in their conversations haha!! 😊
I'm not a Bavarian, so I can't speak for them, but elsewhere in Germany only seasoned alcoholics start drinking beer at ten in the morning. Everyone else prefers a non-alcoholic breakfast with coffee instead of beer.
Hahah it makes a bit more sense to have coffee 😅 it was fun to try but beer for breakfast won’t be a regular thing for us either!
Breakfast beers are the best! 🤩
Hehehe it somehow works!
May have to stop in Munich next year!
Definitely!! 😍
Ooooh that’s so interesting!! That explains why it was soooo hard to find! 😂😅
in franken it is called Gerupfter.
Wow munich. Beautiful indeed.
😍 we loved it!
This is not St.Peter's Church, it is the "Neues Rathaus" (new townhall)!
Oh....you found it later! 😄
Breakfast of champions 😁🍻
Hahaha agreed!! 🍺👊🏼
Bräuhaus is just a word for "brewery" and Weisses is most likely refering to the beer type (light beer aka not dark beer) and thus the name of the restaurant (which probably has its own brewery) is the "White Beer Brewery" :)
That’s interesting! Makes sense 😊 thank you for explaining!
Thumbs up after 5 seconds of watching.
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Awesome channel ! Great content! 😍👍
Enjoyed watching all with advertisements👍🏻 😎😎😎
New subsciber here and waiting forward !
Greetings from Istanbul Turkey 🇹🇷💛🤗🙋
Your pronunciation is exceptional! Did you take German lessons at any point?
Hahahaha so true - I technically did 😂 I guess I’m a beer drinker now! 😅🍺
The buildings look historic but nearly 50 percent of the city was destroyed during WWII. The Germans did a wonderful job of faithfully rebuilding their cities. You can see photos online of how these cities looked right after the war ended.
Oh wow that’s so interesting! Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sweet mustard is strong???😂😂 No way!!
Brauhaus = brewery 🙂 You also could've eaten at HB, they have solid Bavarian food like pork knuckle
Ohhhhh that makes sense! Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
You also could have had a pretzel with Obatzda cheese there.
Cheers!
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Ah, Schneider Weisse, eine gute Wahl - Schneider Weisse, a good choice !
Delicious!! 😊😊
Beer for breakfast. Wow.
Hahaha it was a fun way to start the day 😂
Nobody drinks beer for breakfast, except the germans.
Haha I think it’s just short of steinkrug??
Getting vegan food in the Weisse Bräuhaus would maybe be a challenge - but getting vegetarian food is easy. you should have tried the 'Obazda' or the Reibadatschi (potato pancakes) which are really typical 😉
Ååååh next time!! We didn’t see it on the menu! 🫠
You weren't lying that a spectacular dingly dongly 😂👋🇳🇿
Hahahahahaha 😂😂😂
She's a good girl, you done well there fella
i like a weisswursr with the very thin scin super and a dark bier
In Nürnberg und Umgebung war Bier zur Vesper am Morgen üblich.
Traditional Bavarian Breakfast- nobody outside of Bavaria would eat that for breakfast 😂
Aha 😅😅 it was good though! 😍
@@2Passports1Dream I don’t doubt it-but in other parts of Germany you would eat very different things… like Franzbrötchen Tee Rollmops Kaffee Käse Wurst…
Ellwanger wood say you had a good time!
When you said "St. Peter's Church" you pointed towards city hall...
And it's also not behind the city hall.
Hehe if you keep watching I correct myself a few seconds later😍
Wonderful city ... but I have never had beer for breakfast. 😀
Hehe there’s always time for a first! 🍺
you can eat the skin of a white sausage but its very chewy and almost everyone peels it.
Oh interesting! Thanks for the info! 🙏🏼😍 that sounds like an intense way to eat it, and something we’d probably get very good at with practice hehe!
Oh okay!! Masskrug from now on, oops! 😅 It’s all the American movies confusing us haha! Thank you!
