What's giving them their current holiday is because of the nature of the electricity infrastructure. If power were to be like telephone that can be Mobile, the Ekedc, Ikedc, eedc etc. Would have known what hit them.
The bigger question is why is OPAY OWNED BY A CHINESE BILLIONAIRE? There are no investors in Nigeria that can own it? This is the new form of neo-colonism.
Lies. No foreign company in Nigeria is owned 100% by foreigners. Back in the 70s, Nigerian govt made a law that foreign companies must be co-owned by Nigerians in the established of their business.
I think opay needs to limit tier 1 accounts even more in order to make customers do the needful verifications that will limit fraudulent activities. Im a big fan of opay they have made banking in Nigeria to be less stressful unlike traditional commercial and microfinance banks which has made banking way frustrating
The Opay birthed a revolution in the financial sector by decentralizing financial services and bringing same to the unbanked and underbanked. Do you know that Opay does not deduct #50 for Stamp Duty unlike other commercial banks? Opay network is always fast and reliable. Opay was there for everyone when most commercial banks network crashed during the Cash Redesign Policy integration. Opay does not charge transactions fee unnecessarily. If at all, you can pay easily with cashbacks. Nigerians deserve the same revolution in other Sectors, hopefully soon enough in the electricity industry.
Opay is a very welcome development because it demystified banking as we used to know and made it very easy for users. Every category of the society is catered for instead of the rigid and exploitative structure of the old banks. Please let's support them to get better and better. It's similar to what MPESA of Kenya contributed to their economy, which brought banking services to the simplest phone be it rural or urban.
Opay emerged due to the failure of the traditional banking system of the country, and let me remind you that it's only d beginning, very soon all d big banking institutions will have to succumb or be relegated. It's a promise!!!
My only concern about Opay is Nigerians information security…….. I think the government needs to carry out checks and make sure there are no back doors for information theft, Indian did Same recently and closed lot of Chinese tech companies stealing it’s citizens information
Getting an investment of over 500 million usd from China definitely come at a cost, which is your data, chinese government has been involved in data harvesting for a while now, they did it with Tiktok, Huawei, and many other companies they invest in. Trust me, nothing can actually be done to stop this, The US government tried to ban TikTok but wasn't successful at doing so.
I was hoping you would answer the question posed at the beginning of the video. How come when the banks don't have network, Opay somehow alwyas has and is always very fast?
Opay is a source of succour. They will get over each hurdle with time. Most of our conventional banks are still experiencing the same fraudulent transactions as well.
OPAY Nah de best. I love them. Government should allow them take over all sectors so that we can enjoy this country. Others noh go serious unless dis kind of competition noh exist. God bless Opay.
Great journalism style from Jude as usual👍🙂. Honestly, Nigeria 🇳🇬 scares me with all its notoriety. I wouldn't feel safe retiring in that country after almost 4 decades overseas. Opay is definite a #NOpay for me given the loop holes and fraudulent activities on their banking app platform. I wouldn't touch it like a rotten apple.
Your traditional banks, I wouldn't even touch with a 10 foot pole. Those pple are more rotten than a cursed apple. Imagine having 500k and u go to withdraw it and they give u 100k and tell u to ur face dats all they'll give u. A man came to my office and while we conversed he looked really restless, and I asked what d issue was and it turned out that transfer of 5 million he was trying to do, first bank dat u know stopped it at 2m, and refused to allow anymore transactions go through and u think u are safe. I'll rather loose my money to any other financial app than d licensed ones by our rotten in-house govt.
@@samijay not when u complete all d necessary identification processes, people still do loose ATM cards, do I have to remind u. All have similar issues, but there's always a better evil.
There is no downside of Opay mentioned that the mainstream banks are not guilty of, theirs is even worse. Opay has right to exist just like any other financial institution.
I am downloading opay because of this documentary. This guy never travel before because he doesn’t know the mobile money will overtake the bank within a twinkle of an eye.
This shows you that what makes Nigeria, Nigeria is the power of the masses. I don't think any wealthy Nigerian has an opay account. And that's why we are where we are.
You name it sound like opay is a bad thing. But I beg to differ. The conventional banks have been complacent and have taken customers for granted. Their red tape frustrates customers transactions

Nice documentary but i was hoping you will touch the area of casted doubts in the mind of majority as they hardly use Opay as a saving account instead they keep their money in traditional banks, while money for the quick running of things are put in opay. There is still this fear that opay does not have this quick go to physical buildings like traditional banks and hence the fear among majorities
But how did the central bank of Nigeria allow them to get so big? There's too many loop holes in their operations. In Ghana for a fin tech to operate on such a large scale like opay they would have to be supported by or be in partnership with a traditional bank.
You have to understand , when nigeria goverment ..or elite or politicians do things, they do things in there personal greed interest , they dont care how big they are provided Opay is payng there bribe direct to there account ...you think nigeria goverment care about making us great
