    • @AJ-bh7vm
      @AJ-bh7vm 21 день назад +5

      How can the same people hold each other accountable? You think that African presidents and government officials fell from the sky? The presidents and other government officials reflect the people they are leading. These presidents and officials are from African communities that are just like them. African communities produce these type of people, these people are from African communities. You need to stop separating government officials from African communities, because they are the same. 99% of the people here complaining of corruption, if you were to elect them as presidents or ministers, they will do the same thing they are complaining about, including you.
      Why do you think Africa keeps having one corrupt president after another? These presidents are not falling from the sky to rule the people, these presidents are from corrupt societies...the people/communities in general are just corrupt, that keep producing corrupt leaders one after the other....in simple terms, the people are corrupt. All corrupt presidents and government officials in Africa right now, had a time when they were complaining about corruption before they became presidents or government officials, but when they get in the government, they do the same thing they were complaining about....it's the people that is the problem, the communities, the societies that are just corrupt.

    I like how you constructed the conclusion.
    The most painful part is the fact that the money he stole was never used for anything good.
    A significant point is the fact that Nigeria would have been producing our locally consumed oil products if not for this loot.
    Let that sink for a minute.
    Imagine how good this country would be if we had had been locally refining all oil products since 1993.
    His children didn’t enjoy the wealth in a profound sense and the whole nation is suffering the impact of the loot. 😢😢😢

  • @iamfemo

    Nigeria is a nation where the thieves who now hold keys to the treasure-store reward the thieves that stole in the past with compensations of being caught out and in turn, signalling to the next administration of theives to be lenient in case they are caught on the wrong side of the law.
    Tiring much.
    Imagine how Nigeria could have been if our leaders were truly visionary and invested all that sovereign wealth into infrastructure, social welfare, free education and healthcare. public development, investment of wealth from natural resources into the wealth funds of other nations and general nation building?
    Imagine if we had a 20 year to 40 year vision that each administration ran with, with strict adherence to achieving it? Imagine if 26 years ago, Abacha had a vision to transform Nigeria to the greatest nation on earth and put laws in place to ensure it was nearly impossible for train of successors to derail from this goal?
    Imagine how powerful Nigeria could have become and how high the shoulders of her sons and daughters would have been anywhere in the world?
    These are tin dreams no doubt and what will rid Nigeria of corruption remains an utopian fantasy that may never materialise.

    They carried all the money to go put in european and American banks. Those banks will use those funds to give their citizens loans at low interest rate, but when you come Nigeria the interest is almost 50 percent.

    One stunning detail is that all the associates of the Abachas that have been prosecuted for these huge crimes, were the ones prosecuted by foreign countries! None of them have been jailed in Nigeria. Ok, there was a plea bargain, but even before that, none of them were prosecuted! I remember his son even contested in an election afterwards. Some other associates currently holds government positions in Nigeria. What a shame!! Does the plea bargain also mean that we allow them hold government positions and elect them into elective positions?? This is really really worrisome and says a lot about Nigeria.

    Yahoo boys in high places and no DSS agent around to collar them. I wonder which one of them is collecting the commissions on the new Toyota Hiluxes. They seem to have designed a template for stealing and pretending to prosecute the offender as can be seen in the recent Kaduna State Assembly investigation of its former governor. Leadership in Nigeria still has a lot of growing up to do.
