@Veronica yep we made it over from Oahu Feb. Of 22. We landed Hilo side, ended up in Leilani few months then found a house way down in Naalehu. Been working on and coming along great. Just need get some work to finish it. Best decision ever.

I’ve been working on persuading my sons to spend more time outside and less on social media or in front of a screen in general. We recently found a grove of wild tangerines in the woods a few miles from home and a huge stand of bamboo near to it. We decided to harvest a few pieces of bamboo while eating tangerines and I found your video while looking for how to treat it. From one life long self taut tradesman who has a similar philosophy on sustainability and independence to another. I thank you for these videos.

It's just my pressure relief of the moment from working from home, but Hawaii has always been my happy place, and I've long been drawn to the simple life. So thank you for your channel and your videos. They help me get a glimpse of what it's really like. Good for you for getting clear on your goals at such a young age and getting out of the 'rat race'.

I will disagree about the mortgage I think it depends on how big it is and how long it will take Some of us can't get on the ladder AT ALL without a mortgage Bought my small house last year, got another piece of land year before Going to fix up the house this year when we get the money and use the rent money we pay now to pay down the mortgage before the end of the decade (10 yrs rather than 30) We all need to do it how we best can :)

Aloha. Thanks for watching. Hawai'i is a state just like any other state. You do not have to wait a year. But I would suggest it. It's always best to spend sometime where you want to live before you buy. Every neighborhood, or street even, is different. Hawai'i has a tendency to send people back to where they came from. You are either welcomed with open arms or put through the test. I would like to also mention that while Hawai'i is a state, the people of Hawai'i do not agree with it. Their country was stolen from them in 1896 by American Business men. The Hawaiian people never wanted to be part of America and there is still some angst over that issue today. All that being said, Hawai'i is a beautiful place and I feel grateful that I get to live here. Especially during this time of lockdown.

Buy with other people. Consider black sands subdivision or nanawale. Can get cheap lots in leilani but that is lava central. Hawaiian beaches has cheap.lots too. Seaview area has been pretty high priced lately. Real estate is nuts right now.
