    • @lizzieb6311
      @lizzieb6311 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@christineplaton3048 No. none of these would help in a tornado or hurricane. Wind uplift is the issue with hurricane…roof design (shape) - hip roof Or round) to allow wind to move around the structure rather than get UNDER the roof (example a gable roof with overhangs/eaves). Hurricane strapping that starts at the roof assembly and goes down the structure and through the trailer is then attached to helical piers that are driven deep into the ground to secure the structure. Tornado is another story…it attacks quite differently and unless you’re in a solid concrete dome structure you’re pretty much toast if it hits.

    Patrick did a great job explaining his thinking. Because he wasn't in a hurry, he could take ten years to build his house. He had the time to find and use recycled materials, which probably enabled him to build it out of pocket, and enjoy the process along the way -- and it only cost him $30K, which averages to $3k per year or $250.00 per month, . His house was small enough, when he got ready to retire he could just pull it up to his off grid property himself with his own truck. I really like his approach to the whole project, AND I like how it turned out. It is important for people to have the freedom to do their own thing, but he stuck to AND PROVED Jay Shafer's original concept. Thank you and thank him for sharing it.

    Absolutely love the build! Funniest thing was him sitting in the tub with his knees in his chest. My hubby would fire me if i told him he could take a bubble bath in there lmao

    Really cool ! He had some great ideas. I love the choice of the Eco Flow for electrical instead of getting involved with all kinds of separate components,.. which can get hairy.

    This is gorgeous home from a very talented man. I love the way you've thought about the space. This is an innovative triumph. Using material you're accustomed to working with is awesome. The planned 800SF home will feel like a mansion. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, sweet place and your great explanation of how you did it. Awesome.

    I'm struggling, I like the idea of having a tiny porch to have some shelter before entering... But seeing your current setup, I'm not sure I'd give up that interior floor space for the tiny front porch, since there's roofing between the house and the shed. I guess you really have to see into the future and plan for your final destination. ... But I really love your add ons. For me, the shed would have to be a bit bigger (or maybe a second shed) for you definitely need shop tools living remotely, and a few kitchen appliances and a sewing machine would be needed to make me feel at home. 💖🌞🌵😷

    Patrick is impressive, self taught! Love his house. Stairs are the best idea I’ve seen. Brilliant all over job.
    Don’t know why 🤔 he wants to build a bigger one? 🍻

      just guessing that not everyone wants to be climbing into a loft as they age - once Patrick builds his small home he’ll have friends & family lining up to vacation with him in his tiny 😉🇨🇦🙏

    If I am lucky to purchase a lot of land, I'll construct a house like this, but in a simple colonial style like those in my home nation of Trinidad 🇹🇹
    Why live in a mansion with too many rooms I might never use when I can have a simple abode?

    My goodness but you've done a most excellent job! The stairs? Thats the very first time I've seen that and I've been watching tiny home videos easily 10 years myself. Simply brilliant. I believe pocket door are under appreciated. And your use of concrete is also fabulous. The covered walkway, all the windows around your loft, the drawers and closet, I could go on!😁💚 Seldom do I see such clever, original work ON A BUDGET anymore which has convinced so many that it cannot be done today, I know that inflation and other current issues have made it seem impossible and maybe you did get this done before so much of those problems blossomed but I'm thinking not so much in your case. Anyways...I'll leave my babbling here.
    Oh wait! 🤣 That ancient oriental method of treating the wood?...I have seen that before and its also underrated! Bravo! I am impressed.

    I like how WELL thought out this tiny home was made, solid screens, light fixtures, hidden stairway, couch sleeping area, I think he could do better with his cook top maybe on a fold down hinge, or fold down shelf that pivots at the bottom, and will fold back up flat against the wall, backsplash
