i wish they extended the outro for like, ten minutes
i was thinking the exact thing
That's exactly what went through my head when I first heard this song. I wanted it to just kept building and building, more and more layers, strings, a choir, anything... just keep going! MORE!
Not that I know what I'm talking about but I really feel this needed a whole extra outro segment that kind of shifts gears.
Absolutely
THIS.
So funny how when I was happy in my relationship I did still very much enjoy radiohead .. now that I am not in that relationship and that it ended in a sad way .. I enjoy the songs more to the point to where they help me cope and literally enjoy my moments of sadness and confusion .. kinda like seeing the beauty and the realness of pain .. it’s amazing.
I am exactly the same man
That is the healthiest way to deal with loss, one day it will feel less and you will miss it. It just goes to show you that sadness is far from the worst thing we can feel.
I fucking hate/love this band for that same reason lol
I couldn't have put it better myself. That's the beauty of it! Back in 2007 exactly, I had to let my biggest love go.... My world came crushing down.... and months later, In Rainbows came out. As you explained it, I literally enjoyed those moments of sadness through this music... knowing that I gave my best self in that relationship, having no regrets at all, felt almost ...sublime
bad hey.
my obsession with radiohead is becoming unhealthy
sophie I know, right?
Sometimes I feel like there's a.. you know... a radio in my.... in my head.
It shows that you are not a mindless person who lives superficially, you are aware of deeper meanings, and are prioritizing un-orthodox neural connections in your brain. Bravo.
I thought I was the only one lol.
Mine too, I share your name
I’m a teenager, and got into radiohead recently. And it’so interesting to read comments, that were posted here 5, 10, 14 years ago… And they’re got just the same feelings as me, it’s crasy
This is so true, I love just going through the comments of Radioheads music, everyone just enjoying the music and sharing their own stories it’s the best lol
when I hear this song I drift away... thank you Radiohead for giving us this masterpiece... Victoria Park soon...
this says 13 years ago wow. do u still like the song?
Hello 13 years later... There's a Victoria park near where I live, in Warrington, they throw a few live shows there every so often. It'd be cool if it's the same one. Radiohead are really one of the greatest bands ever. I can't imagine how amazing it must be to be as talented as these guys.
i hope you enjoyed the show at the park :)
The intro of this rendition is the definite proof of Ed's immense role in Radiohead.
Crazy this song is 10 years old already and still sounds contemporary. Great songs are timeless and this is one of them
To be honest, 10 years wasn't that long ago. Music (or at least rock) hasn't changed _that much_ since then.
The main riff always gave me a vibe of Roygbiv by Boards of Canada, which was from I think 1998.
@@telequacker-9529 which funnily enough is all the colors in a rainbow.
And of course this is off In Rainbows
Agreed, in rainbows, and this tune in particular, has held up very well
Freeeeeeeeedom🗡
Thom in the beginning is the reason why I'm alive.
Amazing.
This whole video is the reason I'm alive.
ninjamuffinizcoming I like you, my friend
wish to meet you one day
only to discuss
I can imagine him running like Jack Sparrow
Radiohead really is the epitome of modern music. Innovative Melodies, Complex Rhythms, and Poetic Lyrics have always brought them fame, and they've stepped it up with their new album. Especially this song.
refreshing to see a comment from back when I first watched these
Or....it just sounds good, especially loud!
Jonny doesn't age.
thats because you only see his hair which has stayed the same since like 1992
Jeremy Kilbourne probably the truest statement I've ever heard
joni don't cry
Phil's drumming so good in this
And on Reckoner it’s off the charts.
Always stuck in my head
Clean and crisp like a Sunday morning
He’s pretty much a human metronome lol
This song feels like a spiritual experience every time I take a listen to it.
+A RUclips Account exactly why I'm in love with Radiohead.
Exactly mate
Radiohead Is a spiritual experience by itself

Me too
I love how Thom goes into an almost trance-like state when the song begins.. incredible.
It's so beautiful this version just shows how amazingly talented Thom is to keep on the right notes and he sounds so perfect I love them so much I wake up sometimes just to be able to hear their music, thom's lyrics take us to hell, sorrow, belief ,worried, love, and heaven all in almost everywoman when he hits that breaking point that we can just fly to his notes
spot on
this version has made this one my favorite song of one of my favorite albums
This is the best version I've ever heard. I listen to it more than the album version. The perfect dissonance of Ed's intro sets it off, the drums are perfect, and the whole performance has this wonderfully dissociative feel to it. Sublime - neither understated nor overstated.
You described it perfectly
@@SplendidFellow Actually I really think, seriously, Thom is better pianist then the guitarist.. sure about that,. just watch him and you'll realise how much he seems to enjoy the piano...
The climactic outro part doesn't sound nearly as fully formed and thus satisfying as in the studio version, but I agree that that intro is perfect.
The album version may be the worst version available. Yeah, the sonics are cool and the outro explosive, but it never quite hits the same as most of the live versions I’ve heard.
That feeling when you love someone and they are all you need, but you are the days they chose to ignore. That's the worst feeling. Great song Radiohead!
I love music where you can really tell that it is art and a craft. Radiohead epitomizes that for me. Pink Floyd too.
+Ryan Beck how about reggae
+PinoyAbnoy gotta love reggae fuck ya
+Chris Williams I'm sure some was used in the process ... 😂
Radiohead is my first and Pink Floyd is my third favorite! NIN is second for me.
my two favorite bands :)
最近寝る前に聴いてる、どこかに飛びそう。。おやすみ
The way they end this song is like the entire point of music really
That whistle at 1:41 gets me everytime. Something so subtle makes me feel so emotional. Like the piano at the end of "Reckoner"
what whistle at 3:07? there's one at 1:42?
@@Htheorphanarian You mean 1:41?
There's a piano at the end of Reckoner?
@@k-leb4671 in the basement performance
Yes!!!

You are all I need

I enjoy watching the little looks between the band members. Thom to Ed at 1:31 to start, Ed to Jonny at 2:06, Jonny to Phil at 2:30. I've been enthralled by this video for 6 years now.
EDIT: The vid was changed to remove the short story! So I'd better update: Thom to Ed at 0:04 to start, Ed to Jonny at 0:38, Jonny to Phil at 1:02. I've been enthralled by this video for 12 years now.
galoistheory Poor Colin...
@@TheCrazyN00b1 now its over 11 years
now its been over 11 years
12 years
6 more years
This album will be ten years old next year. Despite the fact, every song on In Rainbows has such a fresh, contemporary sound (as hard as that is to define). I wouldn't be surprised if someone had mistakenly told me this song was released earlier this year - it's that good!
And A Moon Shaped Pool sounds like music from a decade into the future
honestly this is what makes kid A so great for me also. completely timeless
My most listened to song on Spotify this year. And my top band of this year. Actually, they helped me through my divorce in 1997. Ok Computer. My 74 yr old Dad loved them. The best in the world.❤
Yeah, I'm that old lol.
When we perceive our sadness to be familiar, we see sorrow as hope
I love this kind if videos where you can see how they play their instruments. It makes me appreciate the song even more.
Head and Shoulders:
When I moved to my new flat I was very happy, but when I worked out that the whispering voices that I can hear when I put my head under the water in the bath belonged to dead people I wasn't any longer, particularly because I realised that every time I put my head under the water when I had a bath the voices were slightly louder than the time before.
I tried not putting my head under the water when I had a bath but every fucking time curiosity got the better of me and I had to try it just for a second, just to check, and of course even half a second of that sort of thing would bother anyone.
I keep asking the landlord to put a shower in, but he prevaricates and says things like: "What do you want a shower for? That's a lovely old bath, that's an antique, that is. Look at it, it's Victorian, you'd pay top dollar for one of those at the reclaimation yard." It's alright for him, he hasn't got fucking dead people talking to him every time he washes his hair.
thank you, my english is poor. I haven´t got almost anything from the story.
@@bukowski_ mine too lmao
Pablo a me too lol but, i love radiohead
Pero de qué está hablando? Its so weird that he said
Northern English pronunciations/accent must be difficult for you since all English teaching abroad is based on London or, even worse, American English. 'Bath' rather than 'Baarth', etcetera.
I literally love this song so much
Never heard any other song that kill you right at the outro, this is a masterpiece.
Does no one else appreciate Ed's masterful guitar playing?! - He and Johnny are equally great guitarists, just in two COMPLETELY different lights - which gives the band even more depth and greatness.
Ah, Radiohead... You kill me in the best way.
0:09 Thom tryna be like The Bends mannequin
I feel like this song is a spiritual successor to Creep. The lyrics portray the same sentiment in a more mature Radiohead style. It's my favorite Radiohead song hands down and one of my top 5 songs of all time.
Can you share with us your top 5 songs? 🙏
I wish I could love someone as much as described in this song
It would hurt.
It really really hurts
The song is about infatuation not LOVE!

I never listened to Radiohead much in the past but having started to... I feel like I've tapped into a vein of gold... and my music listening experience has been enriched. Thanks Radiohead.
One of the greatest songs ever imo
you can tell Thom really likes the songs from this album, the main reason the album is so good. Something musicians fail to realize, if one member, especially the singer, doesn't like a song it's going to suck and fail. Sometimes it can be a whole album, a realization that just became much clearer to me after watching this.
Absolutely brilliant. Hands down one of the best Radiohead compositions, and it’s such a simple song. The silence between is what makes this such a great track.
I will start saving Radiohead's video clips, cuz some of em simple disappear from youtube.
Speaking of that, anyone have a link to the Hail to the Thief era documentary ? Not meeting people is easy or Scotch Mist. Haven't been able to find it in years.
They are pretty on top of things regarding copyright and fair use
This song builds to such an incredible crescendo, Phil’s drumming on this track is what really drew me in.
I miss her a lot... all the time.
And there's nothing I can do now,
just listen this song, and hope
I know your pain mine is lying still underground from suicide. Love really hurts and it hurts worst when it stops❤️ you're not alone
i feel the same, mate, saw her yesterday, and all i can say to you, is that it doesn't hurt... but my future just can't be seen, without her in it. well, let's hope together.
it's just that everything hurt so much...
off course you already know that
we all understand why.
but sometimes it really helps when you just put this song on and just lay down on the floor, for a few moment...
Release all what happened before she let your heart broken
by the way, I think Thom really understand this too
+FruhMambruh thom keeps me pushing all his life he has suffered from major depression as do I, and his songs are our life journeys and experiences they are so alike because ppl who open there eyes and hearts feel pain thom does you do and so do I, my one walked out and the other left the world feeling unwanted. Stay strong radiohead will keep you from letting it drown you untill you find your place again I've been looking for four yrs and haven't given up ❤️
when the internet was probably less than 100 terabytes
I agree completely Ryan. They are genius and know exactly what they are doing. Great respect for these guys. Pros.
Oh my god, that intro is absolutely astonishing. I thought 'd be putting this on for a bit of background music, but I was completely stopped in my tracks. The rest of the performance isn't as good as the studio version (especially that coda), but holy crap that intro, more subdued and drawn out than on the studio version, is simply magical.
This is my favourite song from In Rainbows. It's just beautiful.
The song when my son was born. I'll NEVER forget it until my dying moment.
The comment sections of every single Radiohead's video are the nicest place on the internet.
Favorite version of the song.
all of that Scotch Mist Radiohead session is grate... and the poems gives a beatiful and artistic detail... love it!
Emotions are paying the rent.
We as a band love these sessions so much. So inspired.
Radiohead are just so good definitely one of the greatest groups of all time a group on a other level
I just started listening to radio head this year thru Spotify on my red hot chilli peppers playlist and the rest Is history.🙌
To all the Radiohead fans, thanks for existing. I feel connected to each and every one of you through Thom's voice.....
One of my favorite things about listening to a radiohead album is trying to pick out what each member is contributing to the songs. It's really cool to watch it done live.
so beautiful~~~radiohead are ridiculously talented
the fuckin bass. it's so fuckin lovely that it makes me fukin calm.
damn! I'm sad now :(
Nayeem Adon orchid my fave opeth album.
Amit Singh yeah. I love that album too. but my most favorite album is Damnation
Nayeem Adon true , nice taste in music man. Happy weekend brother.
Amit Singh thanks man. Don't forget to party like a monster in this weekend ;)
Nayeem Adon yes I ☃❄❄ lol. where you from brother?
this song is something so special. radiohead's music is simply too beautiful, it's ethereal.
THIS IS *THE* SONG... THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U (1 FOR EACH RADIO HEAD)
This band is beyond amazing. There is no other group like it. Never has been never to be repeated
the intro is so beautiful
Creepy start! Wonderful song as per usual.
Okay, I've found my favorite version of this song.
Less than a hundred people are fucked. And i'm fucked. But, not that fucked.
nice
all the way through from start to finish ....thank you lads....
Thanks! It's really great stuff.
This song is simply amazing. It invokes all of my emotions and elevates me to a state of utter bliss. God Bless Radiohead and music for that matter.
and the crescendo just..shines.
This and the basement versions are the best imo.
i've watched this video multiple times, and still get goosebumps every time, especially when thom starts singing
this is amazing
This is a masterpiece
Well, frankly, Radiohead is on the cutting edge of "sharing".
They released In Rainbows for whatever people wanted to pay for it. Revolutionary. They have no problem whatsoever with people catching their vids on youtube. They made and then released for new year's day (a couple of years ago) a special video of themselves performing live every song from their new album (you're watching a clip now).
So, whaddaya want from them??!!!
Radiohead shares their art with no regrets. Good on 'em!
This has to be one of the best tunes ever. So haunting. I have to listen over and over....
There's no word for Radiohead. Everytime they release something I'm afraid to be disappointed. But it NEVER happens. It's really unbelievable these days.
Mad props to Jonny for playing 2 instruments at once, when I play the piano I don't even play the bass notes 'cuz I forget lol
He can play a fender, the keys, radio, tv and fridge at once
I have no words for how this song makes me feel.
I will nver ever get tired of watching this. I get chills every single time, nothing like it.
THIS is all I need!
This is just a masterpiece. Incredible.
i love these versions of these tracks.
i just saw them in Vancouver... been waiting about 12 years to see them and it was well worth the wait!
AMAZING! I love this song. Happy to see it in a more intimate setting
love the narrator to this, like a messed up Philip Larkin
+orangefudge sounds very much like peter serafinoviz.. see look around you!
+gnome1882 Oh yea! that looks really good actually , I`ve never seen it before, just came across loads of videos on here, I`ll be entertained for the next few days :) Thanks gnome
it's Stanley Donwood
+Wasa tury Oh is it... cool, I knew he wrote it, but didnt know it was his voice
, it sounds a bit more northern than his i thought, but he could have put on an accent. I love it anyway :)
I had a bath just in case
Man, I love Phil's face once the song kicks in at 2:35. They all feel the music and are so passionate about it. It gives me goosebumps, really! Very inspirational.
i dont know if i can trust in a new person on my life, im full of doubts, but radiohead recomfort me and give me some hopes, i think thats important so thank u.
I am studying for my final exams and I need to get a B and a A- on two of my exams to not fail the year. A boarding school that accepted my aplication might cancel my admission into the new school because of these two exams... If I fail the year, I wont get into my new school and I am forced to change my current school, because I wont be in my current school next year. This means that I am not in any school if I fail these exams.... Listening to this song helped me pass my exam
I was in the same situation a while ago. So I burned down the school.
I'm kind of in the same situation.
Thom running in slomo is really joyfuk

This is why Radiohead is the only band that matters!
My God, you have delivered again. This is incredible.
Best live version of this, hands down.
My opinion of course :)
Jon Parrent then it wouldn't be "hands down" if it's just your opinion...
Jared Rosenberg Exactly. The best in my opinion would be the "Live in the basement" Version.
man i forgot this existed.
shdji
man I forgot I existed
This is one of those songs that are absolutely fantastic when you see them live or if you have good soundcard and headphones.
What has made these guys great is the ability to expand on their own abilities as musicians. They are open to learning and using new instruments. They know that the guitar isn't a main instrument, but rather a supporting instrument so it's never overwhelming.
Simplemente excelente...
how the fuck did Ed get that sound xDDDD
No, it's not an ebow on this. He uses his Fernandes guitar which has extra sustain, I think due to the wiring. Added to that some effects such a loopers and delays.
And that's perfectly fine, we're here to help each other ;-)
I think besides the Sustainer Pickup he is also playing mostly harmonics
This is amazing.
I LOVE the intro this one. And the performance is excellent as well, of course.
They should make a channel on tv where you could roll a joint and then hear a poem to plot less video then a sound collage to a animation and than a song from a good band. Commericals would be straight.
I use to have a bathtub like that... oh the memories
Did you hear dead people when you washed your hair?
I sure did
Well at least it was an antique!
