Lauren, I've been "playing" guitar for a long time (on and off). My brother taught me a long time ago. He had taken lessons for about 14 years when we were kids and I picked up on it as a teen. Way back then, we played on stage and really enjoyed playing. (I purposely am not revealing my age until the end of my story...LOL). As a rhythm guitarist I never really caught onto what I missed over the years and the longer I didn't play it got worse! I was a horrible strummer!!!! Your lessons are invaluable now as I pick the guitar back up. My brother has since passed away and you are taking over as my guide. Now at 70, I am learning all over again.... the right way.... Thanks.
Hi Lauren, recently happened to see your channel, as a novice to the guitar (limited strumming) I'm really impressed by your teaching method and no gimmick delivery, all the way from the uk, on my 61st birthday... big thanks, peace x
hi David i've learned how to play the guitar in my younger years, in my 30's; i have jsut resumed playing now that i'm 59 and i absolutely love and plays quite well. Lauren's the best teacher by the way, she really is and a hit for us all guitar-lovers. I've learned a lot from her than from any others around on you tubed :)))
@@FemaleObserver anyone who can make simple strumming (for a novice) sound dynamically interesting must be a challenge. Knowing the subject and instrument is one thing, but I would say empathy/connection with the viewers is also flooding through these lessons. Respect!

Hi! I just chanced upon your channel from one of your vids in my search for All My Loving. Just want to say, stumbling upon your channel is like striking a goldmine for beginners like me. Keep up the good work.
Hi, Lauren, I've got such a unique piece of News! Today I've been to my 1st Guitar-World Event in a town nearby (I live next to Venice, and I've just come home) and... It was AMAZING! I liked it too much! I even found Guitarists are all so nice, so cool! Yeah, MUSIC is actually maybe the only powerful stream, able to change the world! 😀
I have been trying to do this for a long time listening to music trying to figure out how to figure out what chords are what and how to figure out the rhythms thank you for this this is a wonderful lesson as all of your lessons thank you for being such a great teacher
I'm what I'd consider to be an intermediate guitarst. I've found as I've started to play shows the last few years, though, that my rhythm isn't nearly as good as I thought it was. I'm self taught and never really learned to count as I'm playing. As I've started to try to count along to some simple rhythms I've realized that over the years I've learned to feel rhythm in a pretty weird way. It's okay for some things, but when things get challenging I have a hard time having a consistent rhythm. I didn't necessarily learn anything I didn't already know throughout this video series, but I've enjoyed practicing my rhythm along with these videos. It's easy to let your ego convince you that you don't need to practice this stuff, but I've started working on counting simple rhythms like this and counting along to some 12 bar blues and I feel like I can already tell a huge difference in my rhythm. Thanks for the great, high quality videos! Also to anyone out there practicing their rhythm... if you have the means I HIGHLY recommend recording yourself playing along to a click track. It's a very humbling experience but if you want that studio musician quality rhythm you can get some instant visual feedback on how close you are to hitting the click!
