God I love this song , 1973 you will always have my heart. Music of perfection...I was a teenager ,life was perfect , to the 70s I would go back and have no desire to see the future of the river of tears ,pain unbearable that i will go thur ...
I always appreciate live music that sounded like the recording. Saw them open for Elton John in Greensboro, N.C. in 1973 and was really impressed with their live sound. The next week heard the recording and the live performance was spot dead on with the recording. Never forgot these guys! So glad to hear them again, good memories and good times!
1975-taped it from the radio to my Sony Reel to Reel. Stopped and rewound till I had all the lyrics. “Carry on, Carry on, to the end, to the end, looking hard in the sun for a better friend…”
I saw them fifst row on the floor, but they were on the floor, too, because there was no bandstand. I think they fronted for an Elton John concert and just played a small venue before the night of the concert a restuarant-bar kind of setup. They were approachable; I talked with briefly, all very down to earth. My first question was "Why have I not heard your music before?", being such a British invasion affecionado, I was stunned that I hadn't. I remember the bassist was doing the Chuck Berry Duck Walk; I think the bassist was Bruce Thomas who played bass on some early McCartney and/or Badfinger. Waiting to see if I was going to be drafted or would the lottery save me? It did. The waiting was made easier listening to this, for me, come out of nowhere, incredible band. I'll never forget Bruce and that duck walk. Great experience aand enjoyed their other songs, especially "Sailing". I remember the Sutherland Brothers as the band for Al Stewart, ah, memories fade; maybe Quiver was Stewart's band, and I 'm not even drinking vodka and lime....
Thanks. The song sadly isn't on the streaming services in the UK at least, though a live version is (on Spotify). I certainly remember it getting airplay but it didn't make the UK charts. The group had to wait another three years for that with "Arms of Mary". But I'm pleased to learn from Wikipedia that it was a minor hit in the US (highest position 48 on Billboard, 20 on Cashbox).
richard cleverly ...i am sailing was another song they wrote and first recorded, but never went high in the charts. then the already famous rod stewart got hold of it and the rest is history.
Dammit, what a perfect song.
I love this song to bits, bought it when it came out in 1973
Me too. I still have the 45 record.
Lifeboat also had Sailing and Real Love --two awesome tunes.
This should have been a huge hit.
No.
@@kattrunner1973 criminally underrated song
Agree

Could not agree more. 1973 was a ripping year for so much music and sort of the end of an era.

In a perfect world this would have been the biggest hit of 1973...
I was lucky to see them twice. Once as Sutherland Brothers, second time as Sutherland Brothers and Quiver. Great band.
You can blast this song full blast at my funeral. Maybe during that great guitar break I’ll wake up. Thanks for making my day.
Great obscure song! Should get more airplay. True rock song from that era with a classic sound. Love it!
The acid must've been stronger back then.
@@kattrunner1973 Geek kid.
With Tim Renwick on guitar, and Gavin and Iain involved, how could it be anything but perfection?
Love this song.
Great Tune.....
I saw them in 1973 when they opened for Elton John. What a treat.
K-SHE 95 played this on their Sunday morning classic show. Love this song.
Ahhh a STL metro person!!

My second concert. They warmed up Elton John on October 7th, 1973 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Yes same only in st. Louis, mo.
I was at that concert as well. I went there from Grand Rapids, MI with my teacher. I recently found my ticket. $4.00!!! $4.00 for two amazing bands!
@@michaelpacker561 oh sir that was a true BARGAIN!
The old song brings me back to the old time.
RIP Iain.

I won that lottery you mentioned and got an overseas vacation at government expense.
I found it from remembrance of my high school days. Took about 35 years 😆 thanks RUclips!!
Love that acoustic guitar intro
I saw them do this song back in the day and it became an instant favorite. CLASSIC!
Saw them at the Capitol in Aberdeen twice. Magic times.

Just heard this on Tunein!
ชอบวงนี้ที่สุดครับ
An old favourite of mine…played a lot on Caroline back in the day.
If you know of a better executed power pop song, I would love to hear it.
One other song just as Good is by Crabby Appleton w
GO BACK,
Possibly southern girls
Cheap Trick
Produced by Muff Winwood
Tim Renwick is sadly underrated. It's not all about vanhalen Clapton and Page.
Its hard to fathom that this is 50 years ago. Read that again. FIFTY.
The wonderful Dave Mattacks on drums?
The guy Andy Partridge tried to tell how to play drums lol Not the first musician AP pissed off. That said, I don't think he drums on this album.
I think it's John (Willie) Wilson.
@@johnnymongrel It is Willie.
Which album was this on ?
Es el sencillo del año 73 y en su cara B esta el tema Rock And Roll Show . Saludos !!
