I needed a quick, accurate tutorial on how to change my blade. Your video fit that bill quite nicely. No horseshit, no unnecessary babbling. Perfect!!! Thank you once again. Nice job, sir.
Hello, I needed to change my miter saw blade, but when I began, I started to doubt myself. I knew I could do it, but the gravity of what could happen if I made a mistake set in. I looked at your video and it was clear, concise, and very helpful. I gained my confidence, and the mission was a success. Thank you for your video, it is appreciated.
Okay I figured out why mine was wobbly. The blade I took out had the little circular washer in the middle of it still, it didn’t fall out/come off when I took it off lol. God I was losing my mind over here lol. Thanks for the SUPER simple video. People make videos way too long or way too complicated. This is easy and to the point!
Thank you! I’m glad this was helpful! You’re not the first person to mention the little washer. I wish I had captured that in the video! That would be stressful to not have it 😅
Thank you man!! H ey I have a question, (I’m new to woodworking) im trying to learn as I go, completely self taught. My question is this, j have a new dewalt table saw and it’s hard to feed wood through..it’s almost like it gets stuck when it hits the metal piece behind the blade (is it called the kerf or ravine???) it’s got a new blade…it’s centered j just don’t understand…I could be doing something wrong. If you have a Instagram I can send you a video of it
@@kyleallen1858 interesting. My Instagram is Berlin Builds. Are you ripping hardwood when it does that? Sounds like it is getting bound up on the riving knife. Some types of hardwoods are more prone to do that because of the way the grain flows and tries to pinch back together. Have you tried running a piece of mdf through? If it binds with mdf I’d say you have something out if parallel. If not it may have just been a piece of wood.
ive had this saw for 4 or 5 years….i used it ALOT when we bought this house…now, 4 years later, i need to put an 80 tooth blade on it, KNOWING there was a tool on here SOMEWHERE to chamge the blade….after cleaning sawdust of of it i found it but thought”this wasn’t the tool i used before “ ….lost owners manual….found you and VOILÀ!! you jogged my memory!!! Thanks . I bought the DeWalt 718 16 years ago and all of these years I've been using a Torx screwdriver and half inch ratchet to remove my blade. I forgot all about the tool that came with the saw. I never used it and right now as my blade is soaking to clean it I'm cleaning up around the saw and seen it behind on the left hand side. Thanks bud
@@berlinbuilds Yes it was still there and the way it's set up it's actually hard to lose it it slides into a hole and then you clip it down. Pretty good system hard to lose

It’s sad that I needed to watch a video to be able to change the blade. The manual doesn’t mention needing to loosen the screw and move the other piece up so the blade screw is fully exposed. How do you write a manual and just completely skip that? Thanks to your video I was able to get mine changed.
The special tool was snapped in place on the back right corner of my miter saw. This was my first blade change, and this video made easy what would have been quite puzzling.
@@dropndeal yeah, he's a stubborn old man, been with the company forever and all he does is deliver material and equipment. Nothing more Nothing less. He had picked up this saw form another foreman cause mine had a short or something and just wouldn't start anymore. But the blade was busted so he we are.
Glad I found your video! Of all the owners manuals I have in my shop, the only one I couldn't find is the Dewalt Miter saw manual...go figure!...Thanks
Unfortunately I didn't know this tool was there, and I used a screw driver with a bit that was too small to try and take it off and of course ended up stripping the inside out. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get the darn thing off and finding what the replacement bolt is if they sell it anywhere.
The only point I would add, is that the driving face flange and the corresponding contact area of the saw blade, should be checked for cleanliness and wiped clean if necessary. A piece of gunk, only the thickness of a human hair, on the driving face, will be multiplied to almost 1/32" run-out, at the cutting diameter.
That you for the info you confirmed what we were thinking by any chance do you know the size of the tool cuz we got ours at action so don't have that tool
I can't get past the first bolt because it's deformed you need a squiggly looking hex to turn it or maybe a squiggly flat head. What a joke. Thanks for video it confirmed I wasn't going crazy and have a quality issue on mine.
The blade is too tight you have to fight it to get it in or out. I thought I was doing something wrong when it kept getting snagged on the way in. Thanks.
Great video. I followed your directions to a tee but now I can't swing the guard assembly down over that first screw that you backed out. When I look thru the slots in the plastic guard from the top, I see a small tab sticking out from that spring housing hitting the top of the blade housing not allowing it to come back down to be tightened with that screw. I am thinking that the tab should be on the bottom side of the housing...not sure how it ended up where it is keeping the blade cover assembly from swinging back down. Any ideas?
That’s a strange one. I just changed a blade today and was trying to replicate what you are describing with no results. Were you able to get it figured out?
You don't need an adapter. I prefer the Diablos. The DeWalt one on there was a general purpose one I keep for breaking down framing lumber or for rough projects. The Diablo blade has a higher tooth count, so I use it for finish carpentry and moldings.
I do have a question for you that first bolt on the guard when I loosen it I still can't move the guard I actually have to hammer it up and pull it back down with channel locks. Do you have a remedy.
I don’t have one offhand. I’m wondering if something has gotten bound up with saw dust so blowing some compressed air anywhere you see as a pivot point to move, and if air doesn’t work probably some WD 40.
@@berlinbuilds Yeah I tried all of that blowing it out WD but it has been like that since day one I believe. I think I could probably loosen the nut above there but I can't hold the Torx type screw in back and you would have to take an awful lot apart to get to it. Not quite sure if I'm willing to do that. But thanks anyway . The only reason I know it's a Torx type screw head as I pushed my finger in it real hard to leave an impression and then I read my finger. LOL
On mine the pivot plate is jammed hard against the screw that you are supposed to loosen. Had to remove it completely and then could see the threads were shiny and flat from the contact with the plate. The rear connection bolt hole needs to be drilled out larger so the plate can move back a touch. Poorly made. Can’t believe how much time I lost just trying to do something as simple as a blade change.
I can’t get the black button on the right side to compress and click. It moves in a little bit but I don’t hear the click and it doesn’t stay out or go in as far as the one on the video. Any suggestions?
You probably need to rotate the blade by hand while you push the black button in. It’s trying to slip into a groove in the blade, so you need to rotate the blade until it catches.
Well, that really sucks. You’ll probably need a set of bolt extractors, but those are usually meant for lefty looses. Maybe wd 40 and some vice grips and then buy a new bolt from a DeWalt repair shop. Hope that helps!
My understanding is yes. I haven't played around with it personally (nor have I really looked for it), but I checked the specs and it says it should. I do my dados with a router so I haven't been too focused on it. Hope that helps!
It’s a little washer that rests in there. Once you take out the main bolt holding the blade in and the “clamping” washer it is exposed. I’ve taken blades off before and it hasn’t ever come off. I must have taken it off camera without realizing it. Sorry!
