The First Step of Finishing Your Basement! - Insulation Removal
Просмотров 3462 месяца назад
Hey everyone. If you're looking to finish your basement there's a solid chance that the insulation you already have on the walls isn't good enough. Where I'm at in Utah you can insulate the basement walls of an unfinished space with R-11 Insulation, but the minimum insulation rating you need for finishing the space is R-13. Some people will just leave the R-11 in place and then add more insulat...

How to Find Irregular Angles for a Miter Cut
Просмотров 9937 месяцев назад
So you've come across an odd miter. How in the world do you figure out what it's supposed to be cut at? This is a super simple formula. Find the total angle you are needing to miter (using an electronic angle finder). Subtract that angle from 180°. Then divide that number by 2! That's the winner right there. Super easy, right? If the angle is too large (or, I guess tight) for you to cut on your...

Bosch Laser Level Review | Bosch GLL40-20G Laser and Tripod
Hey I bought this and now Milwaukee miter saw wouldn't turn on. I think he's mad at me and wants me to take him off of this thing.
Ive been a finish carpenter for 30 years been in business for 25. To be able to develop the skills needed to quickly and efficiently trim a custom home take years and years and years. You just dont quit a job and start a finish carpentry business. There is a big difference between doing projects around your own home or in your garage to working on a new home. There are a ton of good garage weekend warriors out there. But trimming a whole home and make money at it.... well thats like jumping into the deep end of the pool without learning to swim first. As far as advertising. Builders have "There Guy" it takes years of building relationships to become "The Guy" I dont even have my company name on my trucks because great finish carpenters are working because of there reputation not yard signs or flyers. I have all the social media platforms for my buisiness and post alot. I can honestly say its only a place for my builders customers to go.get ideas. I have not generated any NEW builders because of then. I dont mean to be a buzz kill but waking up on day with dreams of going from a appliance salesman or desk job to a full blown finish carpenter and making money... thats the key... making money. Is just not realistic.
I only buy Harbor Freight's air tools now I completely switched over to Harbor air tools because my popular name air tools break and stop working while my Harbor air tools have never stop working not even one. and I have a lot of tools, don't listen to all of the misinformation some people spread. Harbor Freight's 2 in 1 18 gauge Nailer is a truly a stallion ready to work time after time when ever you need a dependable Nailer this is it! for only $29.99 or less. Always note that air guns need oiling daily when in use and a squirt or two during constant use and use correct air pressure in during so your air guns will last for years.
Strike plate goes on last. I would say 6-7 times out of 10, the mortise for the striker isn't perfect. Could be from the manufacturer or also could be the installer didn't pay attention the level of floor when setting the door. Knob first, then you can see where the striker hits on the jamb
Great tip! I’ve started doing this too!
I hate mine. I can’t walk on the floor without the line bouncing all over the place.
Wow...best hack ever! My hubby and I will attempt do this.
Thank you. This is creative.
Why didn’t you use I longer piece across the front?
I liked the look of it better this way. It’s just a preference.
Echo is annoying can barely hear what your saying
Looks like you may have put them too high? You need to angle the hangers to get them in now right?
I love the idea of building furniture on downtime. Where do you get wood to wood that won’t put you in the negatives after selling that furniture
Do you have a blog or video of how you did the built in?
So trim takeoff means ordering trim?
It does!
Remember that one time we didn’t strap down that vanity😂
Lessons learned 🤣
The sound on this video is amazing 😂 insulation really does make a big difference!
For sure! I love blown-in insulation 😂
I don't know why I find it so comforting to know this is an estimate game and like rounding up on decimals. 💜
Nice round numbers make life easier!!
I'm a contractor I have my own ladies's John. That may be great for concerts and single use. However, I'm on site all day and using too much tissue reduces the the liquid and also making it harder to hide the result of the mess. Say for example you don't want to see a turd on Friday that you crapped on Monday staring back at you lol
Got one yesterday for $79 without looking at reviews.
That was a gamble well done!
Thanks im learning but I don’t understand what you did to fix the rattle at the end……..
How big is that workbench?
Right about 3’x5’
I'm new to woodworking and had to change the blade from my dad's old Ryobi and your video saved the day. Thank you!
Strong MPG for a truck and hauling a trailer. Ain’t nothing wrong Gpa driving lol I went from how quick can I run a quarter mile in my vette to how good of a MPG I can get in my daily driver’s. Dr Pepper is on of my favs too but make sure to drink plenty of water as well. 👍
holy sh*t no one cars about your snack time sh*t you id!ot

I believe it might be or similar to it. It’s been a while since I installed those! 🤣
does the 3.0 Duramax engine have cylinder deactivation?
I looked it up online and it looks like it does 👍
The 3.0 Duramax platform does not have any of that nonsense. It's a full-time straight 6 diesel.
Good to know. I must have gotten an incorrect article. What I do know is this thing has been great for my needs!
@@berlinbuilds it’s been a while since Ive considered a GM truck, mainly due to the cylinder deactivation. I owned a Ram truck once that had cylinder deactivation and I did not like the feature, not to mention the varying opinions of that feature causing lifter issues. Anyway, the fact that the 3.0 diesel does not have that feature, plus it gets great mpg’s, makes me consider a GM truck again.
@@MrGunner945 I had a 2011 Silverado. The Z71 flavor got the aluminum block LC9 engine for the weight reduction. Mine had the defective left valve cover (that contains the PCV) which allowed the intake to pull about a quart of oil every 2k miles. The oil consumption caused a lot of carbon buildup in the cylinders which led to pretty bad preignition aka spark knock. On top of that, the unknown missing quart+ of oil was starving the lifters. The valvetrain was very noisy. AFM activation was very harsh and sluggish. The oil burning was not fixed after several months of oil consumption tests, AFM VLOM replacement, VLOM screen replacement, and AFM pressure relief valve replacement. GM corporate finally gave me the "it's normal" go away treatment. Two dealers failed to look at my build date and notice the tech bulletin for the valve cover. Did my own research, returned to the second dealer with the TSB in hand and demanded they replace the valve cover. The oil consumption dropped to less than an 1/8qt in 5k miles. I put in a bottle of detergent every fill up and put the pedal to the floor every chance I could to try to clean out the carbon for several months. The valvetrain noise wasn't getting any better. I have no doubt the lifters and cam lobes were worn pretty bad from the lack of good lubrication. Late 2020 I got rear ended and my insurance totaled it. Full coverage. They gave me $15k for it. At that point it wasn't running terrible and had almost no rust. It was a comfortable truck to drive. I'd still be driving it today. So it was time for a new truck, and I'll admit I was looking at all the brands. Even with all the problems I had, maybe call me a GM fanboy, but I felt more comfortable sticking with the devil I knew. I was considering just a new 5.3 Z71 until I saw the 3.0 while shopping online. I figured I take the risk on an entirely new engine and get away from the AFM/DFM issues. Plus the MPG with the 3.0 was highly attractive. It is the smoothest, most efficient truck I've ever owned. I've towed upwards of 6500lbs with it and got about 13 MPG. My old truck got less than 6 MPG doing the same. The downside with the small displacement of the 3.0 is it will drink the DEF while towing, but normal unloaded daily driving is a non-issue. ~6500 miles to a tank of DEF is pretty normal. Ford and Ram bowed out of the 3-liter diesel market because GM crushed them. The LM2 is great. The LZ0 is even better.
Say , Thnx for the video. I've lost my blade locking bolt. Do you have the diameter and thread size? PartsWarehouse sent me the wrong screw...
No matter what your videos are about, there's always something you say that catches me off guard and makes me laugh 😂
That’s what comes with the territory of me being a little weird!
@@berlinbuilds "a little"
Now do it in a Prius.
Do you think it would make it out of the parking lot?

Nicely done with measurements and techniques. The bracket at the 45 degree angle was the Goldilocks 😂 justtttt right!
Haha, thanks brother! Happy YouTubing out there! I’ll be checking out your new videos soon!
Duh?
Some things we’ve used forever and don’t think about are new to others 👍
So... Using scissors was a ...bad idea... Got it.
Generally. Though it will technically work once.
Funny because Toyota has a Tundra with an 8'1" bed..... Just saying 😅

Good advice ty
Thank you! Have fun out there!
Good tips and at least you learned some things that you can share with others as the company shorted your pay!
Thanks! There’s always a silver lining!
Nice job Nick. I liked the filming style too. It’s impressive to watch a video from about 3 years ago to now, keep up the great work!
Thanks buddy! It's always good hearing from you. I've been a bit of a slacker on uploading lately so I'm focusing on getting more videos out. I'm glad you liked the filming style! I've been trying to make things more interesting!!
@@berlinbuilds Great hearing from you as well! I understand completely, it’s tough to balance your career, family, and being a content creator. Have a great weekend!
It works good. It doesn't sink nails all the way when angled. I've tried over powering it on the PSI and ensuring the depth is all the way down. And that helps. I desperately need a rafter hook on mine. It didn't come with one.
I’ve read the best insulation against foundation walls, for moisture issues, are foam boards or closed-cell foam. You like blown-in, and that’s cellulose, right? That works well to prevent moisture and mold issues? I’m having a hard time deciding what I want to do in my basement. There’s so many different opinions on how to do things…
Might get one after watching ,, if their still around
That's a great question! It's been a minute since I did this video but it looks like Home Depot still carries them!

What's the best process of reducing the width of a door [33" to 30"] with a chipboard inner? Two small cuts on each side [taking out the inner piece length] then reglue/clamp the real wood outer lip edges back on or one large cut on each side and iron on veneer strips onto the chipboard? Obviously, the latter option is the easiest and would have no noticeable joins but would it be strong enough to take hinges and latches?
At that point I’d probably suggest a new slab. It’s technically doable, but the interior rails of the door are usually only about an 1.5” wide.
