  • Hey everyone!
Here's my video reviewing the Makita Corded track saw. This thing has been fantastic and will be a great addition to your shop if you are looking for one. I mentioned in the video that you may be able to get the longer track for cheaper at your local woodworking supply store. Just in case you couldn't you'll find a link below for that as well as for the saw/55" track combo (which is a pretty good deal).
    Track Saw and 55" track:

    Long 118" track:

Great video on all the knobs. First one I've found explaining all of them

I got one for breaking down sheet goods and has worked awesome.

They are fantastic for that. So much easier than using a table saw!

Happy to be the first commenter. I think I have watched every video about tracksaws. Being 60 years old, and never having used one, it's hard for me to justify buying one but every time I have to make a long cut on a fridge panel (I do kitchens) and I find myself making marks, joining those marks with a straight edge and then slowly cutting to the line I think, "buy yourself a track saw man." One day I might. The other thing I am having a hard time with is battery versus cord. Most of the reviews lately are about battery operated saws. Here's another thing that being my age I have a hard time with. Anyway, thanks for the review. Best of luck with your channel.

Thanks for the comment! I have a hard time with a lot of the battery tools because I just love the reliability of something being plugged in. I like batteries for impacts and drills, but most tools I like corded. I was debating on a track saw for a while too and have been super happy with this after having it. Some tools have a buyer’s remorse but this one hasn’t had that at all.

Nice saw and review, keep up the great work! The weather is getting nice to get your truck out. 👍

Thanks! Yes it is getting nice. I just need to replace the battery and there might be a couple of other small fixes from sitting 😂

Nice review, I've got the same saw. I see you use it a lot in a garage or shop- you might want to think about hooking up the shop vac. I find it cuts down on the dust in the air and around the work by quite a bit. Especially good with MDF, really don't want to breathe that stuff in over time.

Thanks! You’re definitely right. I’ve been building some book cases this week with it in my basement I’m finishing and I’m coughing up dust!

Hi. Have you ever put a straight edge against your cut to see if there is any day light between the straight edge and the piece you cut ? I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Do the clamps run under the track so you can clamp where the track is overhanging the sheet?

Yes they do. They fit in little rails so they are completely out of the way.

Do you have any issues with the plunge saw shifting on the track? My cuts are always off by 1/16 -1/8 by the time I finish the cut.

I have some clamps I use that go on the underside of the track that hold everything really tight.

i have the same makita. its not the best one, but for the price its nice. i had the problem that the anngle not cutting 45 degress, the screws in the bottom are sometimes loose. have the mefell and festool now outstanding tracksaws but really expansive, i cant give them to my workers. the makita for the price, if they destroy it i can buy new ones for cheap.

That makes sense. I felt like this one was a good value for the price point where you can produce some quality cuts without spending as much for the Festool. It’s always nice to have tools employees can use without stressing you out!

There's no need to plunge straight into these sorts of cutting remarks...
