Do not buy a home based on a social media trend or need to " prove you are grown ". Take your time. Do your research. Ensure you have good credit and a stable income.
I purchased mine January this year at 19. I love it, and I can handle the maintenance, but the bills do need to be paid each month lol, but God supplies! It was worth the investment
Congrats! And exactly !
What do you do ?
Congratulations 🎉
So glad I found this series! I’m 30 and looking to purchase my first home next year ☺️
SimplyLiv yayyy🥰 and congratulations so exciting !
Sameeee! Also 30 fixing my credit currently! Hoping to buy next year!
Girrrrrrl I feel you! I think with calling those companies and they try to bash you for not knowing stuff can be that they're jealous. They find out how young you are with a home and it probably took them longer if they even have one. Don't let them intimidate you! You are so bomb!
Brianna Lewis thanks so much girl! Yeah it’s super frustrating! But whatever just have to keep it pushing and doing my thanggg💃🏾😂
Lexis Shantell 😂💁🏾♀️ periodt sis!
I bought my first home at 29 so I applaud you ma’am and it is like having a child it’s a long term commitment
Hi! Honestly, regardless of one's age, it's the same for most homeowners. Not just at 22. You have to be informed, know your credit score, and know what you are getting into. Good info though. Thanks! I love being a homeonwer. I hate renting, really do.
Agreed!
Thank you for this! 21 and closing on a house next month all by myself❤️
Hey love I’m 20 and I have a daughter . I’m interested in buying us a home but I’m scared on doing it alone , would you mind putting me on ? What you did , how , where to start , If you down , I can give you my Ig or snap
And congrats 🤍 idk you but I’m so proud of you. You’ll do just fine
HI Lexis ...I THINK even though it's alot of responsability you are paying for something that is yours...not spending your money for someone else. It's a blessing that you have your own home...Many people never are able to have one.
You are such an inteligent and responsable young lady .You are a rol model for all young people..We all
know it's not easy .but you made it possible.💕Love you.
Girl I think I’m ready for the process.... I may do a few videos once I get started. Thanks for all the positivity and information.
Looking forward to it ! Of course 🥰
Having a HOA is annoying but I must admit it helps keep the community nice. You will learn to appreciate it when you live next to a slum homeowner who does need keep there property up. 💕💕💕💕
trecp1969 ahhh good point !!!!
You are right about that, but for how annoying they can be, it's truly feels like it's not worth it at all. I only hear bad stories about HOAs.
I’m glad you brought all of these factors up! I didn’t even think about it lol. Love the video ❤️❤️
Great overview of pros and cons and just generally things to think about. Love your channel!
Love the Rugrats clip! ❤️
😂😂😂
Good info. Really whether you're paying rent or a mortgage you stull want to be responsible. Whether it's knowing where the gas lines are, paying your rent or mortgage on time yada...yada. So if you can afford to buy a home, buy it. Look at it like this do you want to pay someone else mortgage by renting for the rest of your life or would you prefer to pay your own mortgage for 30 or less years. When you do purchase what ever you can pay extra on your mortgage do it! I don't care if it's $50, $25 or $15 extra pay it each & every month. Long as you're smart & wise about buying you will not regret it.
Yeah that’s true! I guess because I’m so young my mind goes to renting an apartment and I always disregard just renting a house which I agree you’re just helping pay someone else’s mortgage lol but yeah I guess I am always comparing renting in an apartment where it’s def less things you are responsible for knowing , but yea I should keep in mind that renting a house can come with the same responsibilities as owning ut
Omg I've never thought about just a regular townhouse having a gas leak 😱 That's so scary wow glad you and Ava didn't have to make a run for it
Right glad we were in the clear lol but it’s scarier because in a townhome if one unit were to have a leak and blow up most everything connected and surrounded is donezo too
I respect you sharing your personal home buying experiences with us.You got this 💪🏿♥️.
Of course! Thanks so much ❤️
All great tips! I love your point about buying before knowing for sure that you want to spend a few years in a certain location
Thanks girl! Glad I brought up some things that you found helpful!❤️
HOA is a rip off. My community came together formed a committee and we manage the maintenance ourselves. We pay 1/3rd of the costs. Maybe you can lead the way.
Oh wow ! Love that you guys did that !
Hereee heyyy sweetie thanks for sharing your experience really appreciate it ❤️
Thanks for watching 🥰
Good information. Good idea to balance your check book and tick off money going out by verifying the money cleared your account. You can catch payments that aren't received before problems arise.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing
Keep inspiring. These videos are very helpful!.
Thanks ❤️❤️
Very informative!
Omg !! Thank you for the shoutout !! I absolutely love your channel 💕

I’m so glad you’re talking about all these aspects... thanks for the honesty.... I think I might just get a town home when my lease ends, what do you think??
Of course! I personally love my townhouse but it’s up to you and your lifestyle on what you think is best !!
Lexis Shantell thanks
Great advice
27 & looking to buy. Thanks for this ❤
Thinking about investing in a property with my fiance at 21 years old. I’m part time, killing it with a small business (hasn’t been 2 years since I’ve started it so they don’t count it as income), my fiance is in school to be a nurse. I’m super excited!! Looking at a house in t-minus 20 minutes😱😱😱
fantastic content
Loving the "SUBSCRIBE" Plaque in the background.
🥰 thank you
My first home was a new construction townhome with an HOA like yours. I just sold it last year and bought a single family home with no HOA. I will never buy another HOA property. It's not the same experience for everyone but mine just happened to be a nightmare so I'm scarred lol.
mrileyga lol omg! Well good for you for finding something new! I know that even some single family homes get stuck in HOAs too but glad you found something that didn’t! I’m glad my experience is prob more minuscule so far compared to others but it’s still annoying lol
@@LexisShantell I was active in the HOA and was even Vice-President of the HOA board for some years. I learned so much and would urge you to at least attend the HOA meetings if you can to stay abreast of the goings on in your community. Just a word of advice 1) read your by-laws thoroughly so you can know what things are the responsibility of the homeowner vs what the HOA is responsible for 2) Know what the rental restrictions are for your community, as it can affect your ability to sell or rent your home in the future.
mrileyga awesome advice!!!! Thank you!
“I’m bout to blow up. I’m bout to be on fire” 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
😂😂😂
Is HOA mandatory for every homeowner on your block? Thank you for this video
Yes!
I prefer an HOA to keep things in line....having said that, definitely make sure you get something out of it like amenities....my fee covers water/trash/yard maintenance/bldg exterior - but I wish it also included the pool.
I will give you 10 cool points if you can tell me the name of the artist or the name of this
song - “Tonight I might fall in love, depending on how you hold me, I'm glad that I'm calming down, Can't let no one come control me, Keep dancing and call it love,
She fighting but falling slowly, If ever you are in doubt, Remember what mama told me, ….. your skin just like pearls, Your back against the world//// Oh yeah, and your video is awesome! The truth about being a young homeowner and I bought my first house at 22, Lexis Shantell. I like it. I can relate to a lot of what your talking about. I bought my first house April 2020. A lot different being a homeowner vs. living in an apartment. One thing for me is things seem to stay broke longer. The apartment, I tell the landlord something isn't working and it gets fixed that day or the next. Here I have to call somebody and sometimes it takes the mechanic days before he gets here. And then there's the thing about I have to pay. The apartment it gets fixed at no cost. Great video! Anyway, I just want to show support and love to your channel. I figure if regular, everyday, real RUclipsrs like myself don't do it. Then who will? I say, let's all stick together and support each other. And I have s2ub_scribed to your channel. Appreciate if you return the love. Appreciate if you return the love. P.S. if you do suxxscribe, please watch atleast 40 seconds of a video, as YoutTube tends to delete my subxxscriptions that don’t watch atleast 40 seconds. And it hurts my channel.
I’m asking you “FA 👏HELP”😭😭😭
I'm new to your channel
👍🏽
Just bought my first home and knew I didn't want a HOA
Can you prepay HOA FEE for the entire year?
Can prepay your HOA FEE twice a year?
I don’t see why not !
HOA SUCK, plain and simple! I owned a condo as my first home, and it was a good introduction to home ownership, but I WAS SO DONE after a few years. Single family house is so much better, it is more responsibility, but I don't care.
Aww, hoas are the devil lol but when you’re single , I think they help....
I live in illnois and they do shovel for us 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😂
😂😂 well that’s good!
Zoom past 10k 20k coming
Yes some people will be shocked at your age because its uncommon also you are a picture that shows them mistakes they made.
As for others keep holding them accountable
Hoa sites are not user friendly my wife has problems paying ours all the time and its a fee. Not to mention the options to pay are limited...
Very well done..yes a house is a lot to manager but you get good systems and reminders in place and it works out..very well done
Wooo I revive it! Yes maybe that is it honestly . Lol also yes about the payment limitations for HOAs! Agreed - thanks so much 🤗
Did you have to show you been working for 2 years?
Yep you do
Faith Smith if you’re a new college grad you just have to show you got a job in the same field as your degree
What’s a H. O. A
I hear a lot of bad stories about HOA
Exactly! I have not heard a single good about HOAs, regardless, of the area or price of the home. Seriously. We make sure live in homes with no HOA. We are not a fan.
They are just haters tbh 😊
Perioddd😂
😂 People assume you know their job, I Check them and move on lol.
ANZA 😂😂👏🏾
If you want to move you can just rent out your home...househack.
