I had a set of these, returned them after a weekend (and ate a 20% restock fee, thanks Asetek!) because I found them to be pretty unpleasant for a couple of reasons:
    1. They are super stiff, as you explained. It is tough to convey just how stiff they are out of the box but they just feel like pushing against a wall. With the default setup it is tough to feel when you hit the second stage because the force required is large and the travel is low.
    2. The hydraulic action is sticky. If you are just going 100%, rolling off, and then exiting the corner you won't see it, but if you are driving in rally sims where you will often be applying smaller brake forces and varying through a corner to balance the car. You can even see the stickyness in the brake trace as a small bump as you change direction. Asetek assured me there was nothing wrong with my set when I returned it.
I bought a set of VX-Pro pedals, and I was incredibly pleased with them. Configurable to the extreme, entirely smooth, and really well built. Highly recommended over the Aseteks that I honestly feel are more of a gimick than anything else.

They are not worth over 450euros in my opinion

Asetek Aesthetics is what keept me out of this ecosystem, i always wanted to buy the invicta wheelbase to combine it with the Mclaren Artura Ultimate in cordless mode but ended up purchasing a simucube 2 pro with Mclaren Pro wireless from ascher to use on PC and a CS DD+ for ps5.

I’ve been fortunate enough to own these for around a year, and they’re great pedals in my opinion.
They’re definitely not without their issues though. I wasn’t a fan of having to drill holes in my pedal plate. For a company that prides itself on compatibility, I would have expected pedals that can be mounted to a wide range of rigs. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Secondly, I only wear socks, so buying the smooth pedal faces are a must. They’re much better than the original faces, of which I find unnecessarily hardcore for a sim racing product. Again, another feature that narrows the target audience considerably.
Thirdly, I found that the stock setup had way too little travel, even for formula cars. I bought the long travel kit and it solved the problem for the most part. However, I wish they could release a new hydraulic system that replicates more of a GT style brake pedal, one with much more travel whilst retaining the THORPE design philosophy.
In an alternate timeline, would I buy these knowing what I know now? No. It was too much money and effort to get a brake pedal that felt right, when I could have just bought a set of VRS pedals for less with way more adjustment and better compatibility. Yet, I don’t regret buying them, because they’re still a really solid set of pedals that do the job more than adequately. Had 0 technical issues and their software is a breeze to use.

Poignant review, thank you. I am currently running inverted HE+ with simagic haptics but have a set of these Invicta S new in the box and was looking forward to giving them a whirl one day. I even have a set of donor TK pedals so I can swap out the thorp and try the elastomer only system as well. But getting the feeling I should temper my expectations.
Most importantly, for the reasons you so eloquently describe - I am anxiously curious if their design ethos results in consistently faster lap times. Period.

These pedals are fantastic. I had Elite V2s and P1000 and the Invicta wipe the floor with them. Yea the pedal is firm, yes there is little travel but I am much faster once I got used to them.

I used them once at Man Cave expo in Birmingham (nice meeting you btw!) last year and they're ridiculously stiff. My arse came off the chair trying to get 100% input pushing the pedal hard as i can. Only my upper back was in contact with the seat. I wouldn't buy them if i was shopping for pedals. I got a steel gt from bj sim racing, offers so much adjustability options. You should test and review bj products one day!

Sorry, I just don't care for this ecosystem particularly from a comfort, lack of adjustability and pricing perspectives. I went with VRS pedals (awesome) and Simagic base and GT Neo wheel. So far, flawless. Great value with excellent performance. Many thanks for your honest and first class review btw. Subbed.
