My life fades...the vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos...ruined dreams...this wasted land. But most of all, I remember the Road Warrior, the man we called Max. To understand who he was you have to go back to another time, when the World was powered by the black fuel and the deserts sprouted great cities of pipe and steel...gone now, swept away, for reasons long forgotten. Two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all...without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw, the thundering machines sputtered and stopped... Their leaders talked, and talked and talked...but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled...the cities exploded, a whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear...men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white-line nightmare; only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of "juice". And in this maelstrom of decay ordinary men were battered and smashed, men like Max, the warrior Max. In the roar of an engine he lost everything... And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past. A man who wandered out into the wasteland... And it was here, in this blighted place... that he learned to live again...
I've worked in the film industry for over 25 years and I could go on and on about how technically this movie is flawless, how George Miller's senses of geography and timing are flawless, on how the stunts have still yet to be matched, or how the story and characters are perfectly compelling, but that's all just icing on the cake. This may be the best movie ever made. 'nuff said.
Yes, and as an artist I've always been captivated by the ingenious details that portray creative resourcefulness and reuse of materials in a post-apocalyptic world. Each costume is like a work of found object sculpture. The Road Warrior is a work of art with genuine originality and soul. Fury Road just a long boring chase scene rehash.
Yup. That's why Chuck Norris copied and pasted May's intro music to MISSING IN ACTION 2 in a scene where one of his buddies died... to good effect, but Brian May and The Road Warrior were first!
I think MM2 (aka "The Road Warrior") is the best in the franchise. While MM1 has its charms, it's amateurish in a lot of ways, and I found it difficult to invest myself in any of its characters. It was a great idea but lacked the technical and narrative ability to tell the story properly (and a tiny budget doesn't help). By the time MM2 came around, Miller had honed his skills, attracted a decent budget, and successfully reworked the tried and trusted American Western Loner archetype into a compelling and entertaining character. The other characters, also, were well-written and sympathetic. Wez, the Humongous, Gyro, Toadie, Papagallo, Warrior Woman, Feral Kid... how could you not want to know their back stories? From a technical standpoint, for a story that relies so heavily on geography, Miller clearly is master of viewer orientation and story pacing. I think it's a brilliant film. One of my all-time favourites. Its one weak point? The score. Its abysmal (as is the score for MM1). It feels to me like stock library music from another era. The Tina Turner one was unsurprisingly disappointing and I've only watched it once. I could live my life without seeing Fury Road again. But MM2 is a movie I have probably seen 100 times and I never, ever get tired of it.
The original Mad Max if u have the patience for the slow pacing. The first scene where we first meet Max is awesome with the chase etc. The ending is extremely brutal and visceral.
There hasn’t been one bad mad max film. I know you are a stickler for the old days but you’re just being a grumpy old person calling Fury Road and Furiosa nonsense. BOTH ARE GREAT FILMS just like Mad Max 1-3
One of the most sensational films ever made, crazy to think I was like 8 when it came out (49 now) still in small trousers and never been kissed or anything else (be a long time for 'any thing else') Still with petrol and diesel prices as they are this movies doesn't seem so far fetched any more

Not until Fury Road came out, and this movie sort of became obsolete lol
@@Andromeister27 What do you mean obsolete? Have you ever heard of nostalgia? Deep thinker you are!
@@Andromeister27 Fury Road doesn't even come close.
Fury Road can lick the boots of this masterpiece!

I've watched it a million times!! I will watch it again!!!

Best trailer for the best apocalyptic action flick EVER.
My number one favourite film of all time
My god that spooky soundtrack is awesome

The ONE and ONLY Max Max.
I love this movie of all mad max parts
the motorbike stunt without helmets at 0:45 is insane, they nearly slipped
True, back when there were real stunts.
Awesome back story on the dog
I've just began watching the original Mad Max trilogy for the first time and I wanted to know, which out of the 3 do you guys think is the best?

The first and second are even for me, but I prefer the visual landscape of MM2.

No wonder Fury Road was so praised. These movies look awful.
It amazes me how much praise Fury Road gets for such a mediocre movie.
