Max 1 and 2 are the best without a doubt .The characters from number are a masterpiece, somebody commented that Mel said he wouldn’t do another mad max after thunderdome and I don’t blame him
I love that they were able to make the blue healer one of the main characters, they found him in a pound, and was going to be put down in the next few days! He played his role very well!
The year is 1981 the location Crockett, Texas. It was a single theater, not much by today's standards, but it was my Grandfather and my eight year-old self. Earlier that day I was shooting at buzzards with a bolt-action in .22LR, had a 100 or so rounds in each of my front pockets, the sights were off, I didn't hit anything. I went into this theater a boy and after seeing the Warrior Woman I left a man.
I almost literally pissed my pants, needed to use the bathroom badly, but i couldn't get off my chair at the movie theater, i missed 2 minutes of this movie, thank god for VHS at the time good ol blockbuster, awesome film Miller and Kennedy did a fantastic display of craftsmanship creating this film., what kills me is how dirty the V8 interceptor is but how shiny the weiand blower motor is.
I saw Mad Max at the drive-in movie theater with my high school friends. We lived in the Southern California area of Carson. I was already in a garage band (drums) since 1976. But when Road Warrior came out a few years later. This movie inspired me to buy a GS1100S Suzuki Katana motorcycle. I bought leathers and equestrian boots as my riding gear. 1982/83 were great fun years of my young life! I was 19 when this movie came out.
Right? I am currently looking for the same kind of Cleveland V8 that's in the Interceptor for my own car build. I ain't building an exact replica of the good old Pursuit Special but I aim for the same vibe.
While I haven't even been around for decades I love this movie and I appreciate it very much. It makes me so happy knowing that such gems are still loved by so many!
Notice how much better this is that the Furry road. Our hero is not seen as some super human - he does not kill dozens of enemies. He makes them crush into each other - there are only two of them and the motorcycle guy decides to retreat.
I agree that this is a bit more grounded and classy movie but I do not see the point in being condescending towards Fury Road which is about on par with Road Warrior by my mind. I believe that both movies should be appreciated for what they exceed at. I especially appreciate Road Warrior because it pretty much revolutionized vehicular action and defined the popularized the post-apocalyptic genre.
Sure didn't "notice" a thing... Had just as much fun watching this movie growing up, as I did watching Fury Road in the theatres in my adult years. Feeling the need to trash one thing to praise another, is the true mark of a fanboy, and their opinions should be considered accordingly...
If you pay attention, not all of the cars chasing him are the bad guys. The guy in the dune buggy is from the good guys, and he is looking for a tanker to haul the gasoline.
I met Hugh Keays-Byrne who played the Toecutter in the 1st MAD MAX and Immortan Joe in FURY ROAD. …well I didn’t actually meet him. I was checking out a replica of Max’s black intercepter at Supanova Sydney and I could feel someone watching me. All the cast of MM1 were sitting behind desks signing stuff… but the toecutter was staring right at me. He made my blood run cold, then he just laughed out loud! …I just shook my head and laughed back. That guy was truly freaky!!! Oh and MM2 was the best for atmosphere by far.
Right on. It's meant to take place in the real world so why CGI? it's not magic or some distant planet - the CGI in the latest movies (even when they just visually change the background or "enhance" it makes it seem unreal.
I remember during the “oil embargo” of ‘73-‘74 that the young sky is falling types predicted that the world would run dry of oil in 1994. Well, 50 years on we know that it didn’t, nor will that happen. And The same sky is falling types that are still around today have predicted that the sky will be falling any time now just as they did 50 years ago.
@@pat5882 we're always learning more and operating on the limited information we have. Our thirst for oil is so insatiable that we have invested quite a bit into recovering all that we possibly can. This habit has increased our proven reserves. But the day will come when the well runs dry. Guaranteed.
The oil embargo in the 70's was the main catalyst for the creation of Mad Max. I remember reading an interview with George Miller when they first announced that they were making Fury Road, in it he said that he saw two guys getting into a fistfight at a gas station during rationing because one of them had jumped the line and wanted to refuel his car before it ran out. Seeing regular people fighting tooth and nail for "a tank of juice" really struck a chord with him and it gave us the brilliant movies we have today.

The two most disturbing scenes in this film. When Dog was shot with the crossbow and Max smashed The Interceptors front end. I didn't mind Vince Neil copping a boomerang to the noggin.
Imo that was dumb to ram another vehicle and risk damaging his own engine to gain nothing and why would he risk grabbing a snake when he could've just clubbed it with the crowbar, there's no er around if he had lost. Not good decisions in those situations, but still a great movie.

Ok boomer
Martin Scorsese absolutely did not say the new Mad Max movies are like theme parks. Everything you’re too old to appreciate isn’t a Marvel movie.
@@ronnieortiz6803 Don't be like that. The guy has a point and surely meant no offense. Listen lads. I am a member of the younger generation and I can say that you can like both old and new. No need to pick sides or be hostiles to newer/older fans of the franchise. I think Road Warrior and Fury Road are about on par for me with the first movie coming right after, BT after that and then Furiosa at dead last haha.
Fury Road is basically Mad Max by way of Micheal Bay.
Ever wonder why Gen X doesn't age? This is because we are all waiting for this... Just waiting for it.... :D
Yaaaaaaaaaasssssss brother /sister whoever you are 😅
Pretty much
I'm ready have been for 45 years. Gen x
You got that right when the cell phone stop working they won't know won't know heck
baby boomers, not you wimps.
Awesome opening!!
The camera doesn't focus on the violence, the worst moments are off screen and left to the imagination. Tactful and evocative like dark poetry.
4:21 Aaah... that awesome shot where he breaks so hard it seems his tires are gonna come of his wheels!
ビスタサイズからシネスコサイズに変わる爆音の興奮と感動は一生忘れることはないです😊
All are Old vehicles. The engines, so strong.
Right? I am currently looking for the same kind of Cleveland V8 that's in the Interceptor for my own car build. I ain't building an exact replica of the good old Pursuit Special but I aim for the same vibe.
I'd forgotten just how good this movie is! Decades since I watched it.
While I haven't even been around for decades I love this movie and I appreciate it very much. It makes me so happy knowing that such gems are still loved by so many!
I grew up on Mad Max was so excited when it was on.
Movie Action was defined by Bullitt and then The Road Warrior and then The Terminator.
Magnificent intro ! Mel Gibson, eternal Mad Max ! The only true Max Rockatansky !
I was about 12 when I watched this back in the eighties! fck what a film back then and still now! masterpiece
By far the best Mad Max movie
Bubba Zanetti had it on good authority that you were sent by the Bronze......
Kundalini wants his hand back and hot yoga
This flick defined a whole new genre.
When that movie came out .... oh boy how awesome it was, that's how it should be, zero CGIs, just pure action.
Right on. It's meant to take place in the real world so why CGI? it's not magic or some distant planet - the CGI in the latest movies (even when they just visually change the background or "enhance" it makes it seem unreal.
Mad Max 3 came out in 1985. Went to the movie theaters for that pne. This one around 82-83 ish.
Love the sky at the end of the scene..
A low-budget Australian movie made in the early 1980s filled with motorcycle crashes and graphic violence. A+ for this B movie.
Best action film ever made.
This and Terminator 2 I would say. They are very different but captivating and ground breaking in all the same ways.
The first five mins of this flick put to rest any fears I had that it would not live up to first one. That's how you do it.
Humbly chilly every time. Thankyou
The world order expect the and of petrol , we don't know yet when ...
@@1pcfred that was the “peak oil” from the early 2000’s. We’re always 10 years away from another 10 years away. And there in lies the grift.
@@Stuntman175 fist fight? People were getting shot here. The juice!
This entire film is a tutorial on how to make an action movie!
This series is so underrated
Its literally underrated
It is for the best seeing what success actually does to a franchise. Fury Road was as good as Road Warrior imo and now the prequel Furiosa is an uninspired mess. Thank god that the originals exist to tip the scales :)
Just watched Furiosa. Solid movie. This one is still the best.
Gurrrllll power!!!! YAY!!!!
If poo were solid
Can't compare, this Mad Max is pure brutality ❤
@@nealm6764you didn't watch it.
@@nealm6764 Another pleb who hasn't watched it but seems to have an uninformed opinion. If you like Fury Road, you'll like Furiosa, no girl power in it either...
Still, nothing beats The Road Warrior.
The Gyro Captain character arch really brings a lot to this movie as well.
Fun fact : when Christopher Lee died in 2015, that actor, Bruce Spence, became The World's Tallest Leading Actor.
The Gyro Captain is actually the true hero of the film. He even gets the girl in the end.
Best intro to any movie, ever!
The opening scene from The Road Warrior could rival the opening scene from Fury Road. Wished Mel Gibson did Fury Road.
There's something so visceral and tangible about the old movies compared to the present day ones, too much reliance on CGI now just takes so much grit and impact and realism out of the experience,
I don't know why these directors do that look at the new movie Furiosa too much CGI
Yeah exactly, people praise Fury Road but even though they may have done real stunts you could tell they used CGI to enhance visuals and backgrounds etc. It makes the whole thing seem unreal and is so dumb.
No girl bosses
@@poocrayon4588The plot if Fury Roaf required a level of environmental devastation not available on earth.
CGI was required
@@HALLish-jl5mo No it didn't, it's set in the same basic time as the Mad Max 3. Regardless it looked fake.
As a child, I watched the crap out of this on my Betamax. Everything about this movie is simply perfect.
MAD MAX 2 is the best movie i think the first n followed sequel after 2 is just fair......still watching......it's 2024!
Definitely the best Mad Max movie out of ALL of them! And easily a top10 action movie ever…
9:00 " that's MY Snake , I trained it and IM going to Eat It ! "
His name is The Night Rider
Remember him when you look up at the night sky.
Me and my brother Jimmy saw this in the theater. Gainesville Florida 1982. Such a long time ago.
Yeah his dog getting it killed me
