27:12 *_HOLY SHIT!_* I've been playing for 3 months now and I had no idea you could do this. Keeping military units inside their building so you can send them out at once.
You can't garrison them back in once they've left, and the default rally point is outside so never thought to try setting it inside the building.
I just tested it right now to see if it was true.
I remember seeing someone do it when I was looking up a strategy and my jaw hit the floor

My sister is still playing the old version on AoE, the other day I played a comp stomp with her because we are all stuck at home and she is lonely and I found out she has all her women farm and them men mine and chop trees

When I was much younger and playing this game, I thought making farm on the greener grass will provide more food to the farm
I only recently got back into AoE2 and then found this channel. Honestly I mostly only watch the Low ELO videos cause I find them the most entertaining and because its the skill level I am at so it makes me chuckle every time T90 panics or exasperates about something and I just think that I would have completely made the same move as the player.
It's handy when he suddenly laughs hysterically, because it jolts you awake. He then proceeds to explain to the viewer what's going on.
LEL series is my favourite of all your content. These games have always a lot to learn & relate to. I also love the fact that you always add your "I might laugh, cry, sigh..." in the beginning of every single video.
The fact that this guy separated gender on resources in an ONLINE game is LEGEND
DarkElf's economy was more efficient because of the gender roles.

This is exactly how I played. Just sit back, build a wall, gather resources with only 50 tops villagers, get *all* the upgrades, wait for imperial, build the perfect army, and then destroy the opponent (easy AI).

Should have a Smalll Low Elo tournament where they get 4 days before hand to train with a character from Hidden Cup so the pros basically have to coach a newbie to win ... In order to get a split prize....
You'd need to go for mid ELO like the "adopt a noob" tournament as at this level there's so much disparity in skill.
Day9, for example, would be a comparable ELO to these guys but a week of playing ranked games would put him miles above red even with Hera coaching red for a couple of hours a day.

Judging by the title, I'm going to assume that someone does what I used to do: send women to pick berries, butcher sheep, and farm; send men to chop trees, and mine(I don't think I knew about hunting, but that would have been performed by men.) I let them both build. I also preferred to make the towns pretty/orderly.
I was completely wrong. Nevermind, I was totally right, and T90 used to do it too. I never built a wall of houses around my TC, though. I built my houses like blue did.
I never chopped straggler trees because of their look; I like trees scattered around the town.
I used the male female villagers for different tasks because their animations were different. Used to wall my sheep in with palisades for pastureland, and would (in some games) send one female villager in there, maybe build a locked gate, and have her shepherd.
NightKnight347 me too I actually used to make my game like campaigns or something like that make a city with walls and outside the mills and farms if there’s a mountain I put the sheep and house and a man in there with sheep placing houses in the side of that it’s supposed to be
I always put the women to chop trees because I thought girls and trees look good together. Men would still mine and hunt because those boars were too strong.

I'm impressed that low elo players usually build more than one lumber camp. That wasn't something I ever did when I was low elo. I'm pretty sure I knew actual build orders for knight rush or something before I started building multiple lumber camps.

Autoscout is fantastic on Black forest. It helps find all those extra resources hidden in little nooks.
In the original release of Age of Kings there was difference in stats between Male and Female villages. Woman would farm faster, and men would mine faster.
Using auto scout often gives you a higher score for many players so your enemy might get uncomfortable and potentially affect their performance.
Scouting is like the great joy of solving jigsaw puzzles - corners first!

Ok, these videos did it for me. I finally played some 1v1 ranked games. 10 of 'em actually. So now I actually have a rank. It's not worth mentioning really hahaha, but yeah. Wanted to say thank you. :)
ok in defense of supplies, if your opponent isn't making archers, and you wanna just spam like 30 man at arms, it's definitely worth picking up BEFORE you do that. One thing worth mentioning here is that man at arms spam occupying your base is very hard to counter. They can destroy buildings, albeit not efficiently, and they can seriously wreck any trash the opponent can muster. Archers are strong against them but not one archer against massed infantry, and not when the infantry can just camp the archery range.
Plus if you're goths, you can combo it into Huskarls after baiting your opponent to fully commit to archers and you've already got some infantry upgrades.
So I think if you plan on fully committing to militia line, supplies is worth it. obviously that's only if you are about to do that. Not currently are.

I've been playing the AoE series ever since their release, but never online, aside from some LAN back in the old days. I thought of myself as an average player, especially watching these kind of games, but whenever I play online I get my arse kicked and get destroyed in 5min :D keep posting more Legends and meme videos, it's much more educational than watching the pros.
Franks, Byz, and Brits were the civs most picked among my noob friends and I back in the very early 200s. Fun civs

What even is this game? my very first 1v1 in this game I got freaking tower rushed and castle dropped... I cry everytime....
If you are getting tower rushed on feudal you must compromise to a feudal fight.
Get 8 scouts before he puts his fifth tower, bring 15 vils and batter down all the tower asap and snipe the vils.
Also counter tower to prevent him to going forward.
There are three ways to play. 1.) Tower rush. 2.) Build things until imperial, and then send the army in. 3.) Look up a build order and fast castle

Honestly I still do this LOL, ladies farm and men build, mine and chop wood. In a blind panic to put up a castle or tower anyone will do though.
I use to split them this way when I was little kid. i would as well build the town with like inner walls and circle so you had outer lands with farms in in the centre was castle :D
On the subject of role playing Age:
So back in the day like 10-12 years ago me and my mates would play age like mad, I'm talking 6 hour LAN sessions, sessions that started at midnight after we had been to the pub and lasted until it was daylight (we were students Hey!), we used to play quite a lot of games high and/or drunk, we were pretty bad as we only really played BF LAN so we never picked up decent strats so our games would be 50 mins booming on 1/2 TC and then a big fight then repeat as the winner returned to their town victorious but didn't actually kill their opponent, they could sometimes last hours but we were all having fun and it wasn't really competitive.
No we weren't great but we could usually boom reasonably well after a few months (alright years) of this.
BUT....
One time by which point we were pretty decent I was high AF and decided the best thinng I could do was to build a dark age agrarian Utopia in my BF clearing .... I'm talking William Wallace training campaign style base, I had square palisade walls with 4 gaps (no palisade gates in AoC 1.0c) so about 25 mins into the game my team mate is like 'can I get some support I'm being pushed here. I'm like: "sry mate no can do." We get wiped in short order and me and my mates spend the next 30 mins pissing ourselves laughing over the whole thing.
Online communities are great and all but seriously there's no substitute for LAN gaming, it's a tragedy of the modern world that it's basically gone the way of the dinosaurs.
Not everyone has small tree mod, I think that explains the straggler tree phenomenon that grinds your gears

I used to kill the female villagers because I only wanted all male villagers. But I used to do exactly what red did, females farming and males doing everything else. I also used to and still do use a single vill to build everything and just leave them idle so i can find them easier
you can press ctrl + a number when you have that vill selected; then when you press that number it will select the unit.
Did you play as the Chinese a lot? I know they have a similar mindset, lmao

Ayy, you use the classic hot keys too! Nice, I tried learning the grid layout ones for HD and I gave up. I learnt the hotkeys back in like 2001 as a kid and when I came back when HD came out I couldn't learn the new ones as my brain was like, no that's wrong.
When I was a kid I used to build all the buildings and get all the upgrades in every age before clicking up. So I'd make sure to get M@A tracking (who remembers tracking, yeah that's right) and all the blacksmith and eco upgrades before clicking up to castle age. And then I'd make like 10 of every unit, doesn't matter what they good for, just 10 of every unit, seems good, but like 50 of my unique unit, doesn't matter what it is, it must be good as only I have it. What I'm saying is DarkElf is me in 2001

I picked britons and franks all the time. Britons for longbows and franks for paladins and throwing axemen. Teutons were there too and when AOC came out, I hard swapped to huns, because no houses ftw

I'm getting back into AoE2 (thanks largely to this channel!) and I was wondering if there were any good resources to list out things like what you stated early in the match - you said you need 4 villagers on gold to support a single archery range producing archers nonstop. How do you know that? I mean obviously you can test it, but is there a reference for this or other rules of thumb?

Hello T90. I have been requesting on twitch for you to cast a community game using the Nile Delta Map and I decided to request here on youtube too! I dont know if you ever saw this map, but it is included in the game. Basically you star in a very small island without TC and there are 2 large islands where the most of the resources are. There are also small islands with gold and stone. I played it a few times and I found it really interesting because I really do not know how I should play it. I actually went to a feudal TC drop on the large islands. Well, thank you for all your good job, HC3, LEL, etc.And please at least give a look on the Nile Delta map, I think it is really interesting.

For me straggler trees get in the way of building and are a quick resource for wood at the start before going to build the lumber camp and staring on wood properly. Yet again I'm terrible player lol.
I think if they happen to be right next to the TC, that's probably fine. But mostly it seems like they're not worth it beyond a very short distance.

I have a potential explanation for red's villager sex discrimination. Because he's a new player he's not very good with balancing eco, so he sends all females to farms and all males to something else as a way of helping him to have enough of a distribution of villagers across different resources.

Wow this series does wonders for my self esteem. I'm still preparing for trying my hand in ELO AoE2 - still memorizing the hot-keys, still drilling those first 15 villagers - but if this is what I'm gonna be against I might be more ready than I thought.

I didn’t know that you don’t need to drop off wood with wood cutters before building farms. That should help in my future games.

I have been playing Age of Empires for about 16 years now and I always have my lady villagers collect food and the males collect the wood,stone and gold . Only once I have two agricultural centers (mill perfectly surrounded by farms in spiral fashion ) running full time do I send residual lady vills to help get wood or gold.
