The Dreadnought looks amazing. I'm in Southern California and I'm not sure if we have the trails for it. Pretty awesome to have that bike and live where you live!
Pretty sure I saw you at your car on your final day. Shouted something about forbidden as I pedalled by. Looks sweet! Hoping to cop one this Summer when stock is replenished. Have you ridden anything tight and janky on it yet? Curious how It would handle something like Bookwus or Grannies - even executioner. I’m only 5’9” - but I’m leaning towards the Dreadnought over the Druid since I’ll be up the S2S starting this Spring. I feel like a medium DN could be a really cool compromise.
Hah, quite possible! There aren't too many around yet so the odds are pretty good it was me. I haven't ridden Bookwus or Grannies on it yet, but I've done Executioner & Upper Elevator a few times - both of those can get tight. I found the bike did well but I did have to experiment a bit with line choices to make it around a few corners. I did ride Upper Oilcan on it too and didn't find that to be too fun - a bit too slow and pedally, the bike definitely likes to be pointed downhill.
Hi man, I have a 27.5 devinci spartan from 2018 and I really want to pull the trigger on the dreadnought, I always wanted a druid but it was to small for ruff single tracks here in South of france and I was waiting this long travel version a lot! Please let us know after 2-3 month of riding how it goes :).
I find that fox recommended settings are always off. Their recommended settings for my 36 set it up with way too much air pressure and way to much of both high and low speed compression damping
I ended up ignoring the suggested 20% sag, which needed 127 psi for me to get. I settled around 121 psi in the fork, ~2-3 clicks less damping on both HSC and LSC and 2-3 clicks faster rebound for LSR, HSR was about the same as recommended. I also removed one of the volume spacers that was in the fork so it only has one in there now.
This was just what I needed. Any updates long(ish) term? Im also a tall dude riding the shore and the dreadnought is what I plan to buy as soon as I can find one.
I've been really enjoying it. Riding the XL is kinda like sizing down for someone my height, so the bike still feels quite playful to me - I find it easy to jump and move it around etc. I have a blast riding it on steeper trails like Deliverance or fast & rough trails like Ned's, but I do find it to be a bit of a handful on flatter/ tighter trails like Upper Oilcan & Mow it Down. It's also really fun on fast flowy trails like Expresso or Ridden Art. Overall, very happy with the bike. Only downside I've found so far is if you have big calves the idler pulley/ chain will make your leg greasy.
@@lost_in_the_woods I’m 6’6. I’m used to having to struggle my XXL bike around the tight corners on the shore. Reach is identical to my current ride but the dreadnought has wayyy longer chain stays. I definitely like the idea of keeping the bike a little playful. Just wish I could demo one!
Hah, I bought it on faith too. The long chainstays are really nice for tall people - nice to have the rear of the bike grow in proportion with the front! Feels much more balanced. I did find the stack to be a bit low, right now I'm running it with 10mm of spacers under the stem and a 50mm rise bar.
Nice vid, thanks for sharing your impressions!. As a fellow 6’6 rider, your size/build looks like what I would go for. I know that we live in the era of “how cares about weight”, but have you weighted it by any chance? Not really worried about weight myself, but I keep fantasizing with the idea of running it with a dual crown fork. Cheers!
@@skatefarmerftw If an XXL size existed I would be right on the edge of it, so it's kinda like I "sized down" to XL. The XL size has been working well for me, I can still move the bike around easily and it honestly jumps quite well. Being as tall as I am though I don't think I've ever got to experience what "sizing up" for a bike feels like, so I can't give you any impressions from that side of things.
@@lost_in_the_woods Awesome, Sounds like its perfect for you. Now so many people are telling me about the Druid being all the bike you ever need I am totally confused haha!
@@skatefarmerftw I do agree that the Druid is the better bike for most riders. I probably would've gone with a Druid but the sizing on them runs so small that it wouldn't really work for me. Coming from a bike that is pretty similar to the Druid (Evil Offering) the Dreadnought is definitely harder to climb on, but the increased descending capabilities make the tradeoff worth it to me.
Good idea! I've just finished moving houses so I haven't had much time to film & edit, but I've been riding a lot. Seems about time to get the gopro out again to film something again.
Hey! Can I ask what you ended up doing for the chain? just joined two together 50% of each chain or ran a full chain plus the extra links joined by another master link?
A full chain plus three extra links from another chain, one of those links being a master link. I posted a bike check on vital, you can see the master links in the shot of the cassette/ rear end coming out of the bottom of the derailleur. www.vitalmtb.com/community/Beestrangler,54625/setup,43636
I was just looking for a video like this. No one has a Dreadnought yet!
When I bought it I had no idea it was going to be so rare! Apparently the first batch of frames sold was only 100 frames worldwide?

That color scheme is amazing. Great choice!
Thanks! I'm really pleased with how the bike turned out too.
What did you use to secure your spare tube to the two mounting screws below the top tube? Was looking for ways to best utilize them
It's a Wolftooth B-RAD strap, the medium one I believe. High Above makes a cool one too.
@@lost_in_the_woods Thanks a lot!

Sure thing, I'll make more videos as I ride the bike more!
Been thinking about getting an enduro bike to pair with my Izzo, this might just be the one! A little pricey compared to YT though haha
If you can find one it’s a great choice!

Yo what's the shock pump you using
It's one that came with my YT Izzo. I brought it because it was small enough to fit in my hip pack.
