    I have seen the city clearing out all the major homeless camps several times. I’m glad they are staying on top of it. I believe we have 3 stay safe communities open which was a great idea. I was looking to purchase a home back in 2015. I never knew prices would double since then. I was turned down for a home loan of 300k while making 75k per year with a 800 credit score. I wish I bought years ago like my peers did.

      I agree about the clean ups and the stay safe communities! Everyone will never be 100% happy but I think it's a step in the right direction. Hindsight is always 2020 with the housing market. Clark County has appreciated every year since 2000 except for four years during the financial crisis. Email me if you want to see if buying now is a possibility :) you never know, we can try to get creative

    In 197 0 I bought my first home in Vancouver for $14,000. People have gone crazy with their prices on everything. Don't believe people this used to be a very good community to live in, but you have to have a six-figure income to buy a house around here

      Prices have certainly changed dramatically, not only here but all across the country. Many people (myself included) still believe it's an amazing place to live! Every purchase situation is different, so what you can afford on a six figure salary varies widely.

    Higher interest rates forces the prices of homes to go down, which in turn reduces inflation. Great solution for the homeless in Vancouver, I hope Portland follows suit!

      Thanks for commenting and watching. We will have to see what happens - some predict significantly lower rates this year, others do not. Frankly, I think they will go down a little but not substantially. There is still a ton of pent of demand for home purchases.

    Hi, this is KS.. in over 20 years ago, in the Vancouver Waterfront used to have just Red Lion hotel that my wife and I used to have meal. But no fun facilities. Nowadays, it became more fun place and always so many people. especially it is very difficult to fond parking spot in the weekend. I have seen so many people in Downtown Portland who is affected due to drugs like Zombi people. I hope City of Vancouver will solve such situation.

      Zombie people, oh my 😂😅 It's certainly not perfect down there, I think any city will always deal with those issues, but Vancouver is trying. The waterfront has been a huge hit for the community and brought in a ton of action for the economy. I expect the 192nd corridor and Columbia Palisades to bring a similar experience to the east side!

    Heard there’s been like 4 billion invested into the waterfront

    Homelessness is very bad here can’t pass a bridge without seeing homeless under it that’s coming from someone who’s lived here for 30 years it’s gotten terrible the drugs and homeless come right over the bridge Oregon legalize every drug and there 5 min from downtown Vancouver

    A question ?? . If I were an immigrant in Vancouver, WA earning an average living wage, I would be able to pay my rent in one of those apartments in that beautiful place.

    • @LivingInVancouverCamasWash
      @LivingInVancouverCamasWash  5 месяцев назад +1

      Unlikely that the apartments at Columbia Palisades will be average prices, they will be luxury units, so likely no. However there are other apartments around town!

    None of these developments are affordable housing. That's what the city needs.

      You are right, we do need more affordable housing. I am sure some of the units in the Palisades will be designated affordable but I am not sure of the specifics
