- No recap pod this weekend as we're all on the road after our Nest Invitational Tournament in Frisco, Texas. Instead, we bring you another calendar year majors deep dive with Soly and KVV as we turn the clock back to 1996. We start, of course, with the dramatic Sunday in Augusta as Greg Norman falters and Nick Faldo claims his third Masters.
Then it's on to Oakland Hills (49:00) for Steve Jones's unlikely triumph at the U.S.st Open, Tom Lehman's lone major win in the Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes (1:27:25), and we wrap with the PGA Championship at Valhalla (1:29:55) where Mark Brooks beats local favorite Kenny Perry in a playoff.
Lehman was just happy he didn't have to rent skis to people doing cross-country on a course in the winter. That job requirement was what led him to quit as golf coach at the University of Minnesota.

That Masters was the same story as the 1990 Open at St Andrews. Norman gets paired with Faldo and can't break 75.
How many majors does greg win if old mate doesn't chip in on him in 87? We'll never know!
3. Norman's other failures had nothing to do with Larry Mize. He had already puked up 3 majors in 1986 before that Masters.
@jimiverson3085 of course he had, but having the monkey off the back can do a lot for the mental game. As mentioned in this pod, that's the loss that really hurt him. Not suggesting double figures but maybe 5 or 6 career total. But it's all moot!

The story about what he assumed shows why he didn't win more. Even if it was unlikely Mize makes the chip, he has to assume that Mize will get up and down. Bad mindset.
