Carlin was a constant pearl of wisdom when it came to seeing situations and warning people through comedy, and he has a lot of material that has aged quite well.
Being a native New Yorker, he would've had a field day with Trump's criminal ass not only being nominated, but being elected. I wish he'd lived long enough to write that monologue.
Michael I've been a fan of you and everyone at Cracked since I was in high school. Well over a decade. It's been wonderful watching you all grow as people. Very proud of you. Overcoming alcoholism is no small feet.
I have to listen to "The Great Dictator" monolog every now and then to keep up hope and love that Bill Hicks monolog, comedians are the people who can tell truth and, usually, not get killed
Great selections. That speech from the great dictator always gets me 🙂. Congratulations on the sobriety 😊. I've been following you a long time. It's good to see you, better to see you doing well.
the new cracked video team is doing their best to revive the cracked energy, but it just comes so easy to Swaim. no shade to the new people, but having Swaim back really does a lot to revitalize cracked video
I genuinely haven't paid enough attention to realize there were other presenters than Swaim at Cracked. Just like with Breeding, I always only see one presenter on their videos like its supposed to be a solo effort.
That bill hicks monologue has stuck with me more than any other performance. Thank you for sharing it with others. George Carlin and bill hicks were very formative in my upbringing and evolving my worldview. I’ve been a fan of yours since the Agents of Cracked days and I’m glad to find out we share the same complicated love for these guys.
Never knew my dude's a fellow traveler in the Alci Hall. 9 months as of December. Keep coming back, Mr. Swaim, and Happy New Year to me, new book to read 🥳 💜
I dont love most of the new stuff but I really enjoyed this. I can totally see a series exploring different themes in stand up or classic bits. I am a huge stand up fan and watch a ton of comedians, it was really enjoyable to watch them all compiled. Also, 6 years?!?! That is awesome and insanely hard to do. The book is awesome to but I think sobriety is just a beast (look at all the drunk authors). I hope you're soaking up all the pride and really able to enjoy such a great moment in life!!
there's alot of stand up that ive watched over the years and you basically tapped on all the comics that i watch most when i need a different view point to bounce off of when i myself am having trouble trying to rationalize shit going on in my life. and Cracked has always been there too. i was reading every article on the website before i knew about the youtube channel and i love that you Swaim are continuing to keep this beloved brand going. I loved all the full recaps of movies you did, those were wonderful to listen to while i was slaving away at work pushing snow and making sure people didnt die on my runway here in my home town. Stand Ups exist to give us a vocal slap in the face to come to our senses when the world around us is crumbling and they find the absurdities within the system to say "hey, isnt this kind of bullshit and funnny". dont stop being you and what made this brand what it was.
I nearly sh*t my pants at 6:21 I laughed so hard "hi Micheal". My first time in rehab I remember they asked my name and everyone hit back with applause and told me hi and it scared the hell out of me.
One I would add would be Craig Ferguson's monolouge after Brittany Spears was in and out of rehab. Instead of making fun of her, like every other late night comedian, he shared about his own struggles with addiction and asked for sympath for a young person going through a rough time. One quote I will always remember him saying was that if money could cure this, no rich person would ever die from it.
Awesome job on 6 years man, this Christmas will be 5.5 years for me. Alcoholism killed my best friend of 30 years, about a year and a half ago and I miss him every single day. Glad to be seeing more, and more of you again. Keep it up. ( edited for punctuation and grammar mistakes** )
Chaplin was always about bringing humor to humanity and humanity to humor. That's why so many of his films starred impoverished characters and his foils were rich and powerful.
Love this idea for a series! Stand-up is such a rich genre and art form, and it changes as rapidly as the society it exists in. I can't wait to see the next episode 🎉
Loved everything about this. More than one example of people who've helped me stay sane on this wold and silly ride so far. Crazy to think I'm older now than Bill will ever be, but it's beautiful to still be able to hear his voice echo of the edofoces of stupidity and his vision reflected in the eyes of those who still want to connect and make the ride better.
I'm so thrilled to be getting more Swaim videos, let this man talk about whatever he wants! Also, I read "The Climb" and was ENTHRALLED the entire time!
After you said Bill Hicks told homophobic jokes I had to look up that performance to see for myself. Bill Hicks "homophobic" jokes were really poking fun at toxic masculinity (the whole dancing as a man is gay cause men are supposed to be angry and reserved) and also the male double standard of finding male homosexuality "gross and evil" while finding female homosexuality as "fine and sexy". He takes the approach of leading the audience through a bait and switch w them, seemingly saying the standard homophobic response but then following it up w pointing out the hypocrisy/double standard. So idk if I'd label the jokes themselves as homophobic but really a take on homophobia itself.
Put it this way: I once asked Bill before a gig if he was aware that Andrew "Dice" Clay had performed in town the night before. He shot back "Of course! I'm the antidote!"
This was an excellent video, I too drank a bottle a day. Vodka instead of whiskey. I got EMDR trauma therapy and started taking Zoloft and the urge to drink disappeared. It seems crazy I operated in such a daze. I am so happy you’re out of that alcoholic hell.
This was neat. Also, congrats on 6 years. My sister is going through her 2nd dhs case and may lose her 2 youngest. Meth has been a big part of her dysfunction. Being clean isn't easy, and 6 years is incredible. Congrats.
Jammin in New York is classic af, the whole fucking set. Glad to see Charlot in here too. Thank you for perpetuating the storied art of the RUclips list video with a solid entry, Michael Swaim.
11:04 Charlie Chaplin: Mine eyes have seen the coming of the glory of the Lord, He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored...
I'm so happy that Mr. Swaim is back on Cracked. I have followed Cody Johnston and Katie Stoll over to Some More News, and Daniel O'Brien is doing a great job writing for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Michael Swaim the only one of my favorite people from Cracked that I wasn't watching so this is wonderful. I hope they're paying him well because he's worth it.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays Michael! This is what I started my holiday off with and it set me right. Here's to a successful 2025 to you and the re-re-re-re-reborn Cracked from a fan from the magazine to the site to RUclips over all the years. And everyone, check out Small Beans!
as a depressed kid in the south with a guitar, bill hicks was a hero of mine as a kid. those two posthumous albums still stand up (pun intended) today, mostly. don't worry about marky mark, bill also channeled that bit onto ted nugent, much better target imo.
Pretty cool man but you hit some big numbers. I don't know how you're going to find some more stuff that tops this. I mean you included the Bill Hicks it's just a ride thing. Wow. Glad you're back
George Carlin's stand-ups shaped my worldview and beliefs in a way that's hard to explain. I never met the man, yet I miss him greatly. May he rest in power 🤍
Idk if you do this all yourself brother, but thank you! I’ve missed you quality of content and this was amazing. (Ps missed as in I’ve not seen a lot of your newer content bs it was lacking in recent content 😅)
i’d love to see more of this! and also the climb is one of the coolest things i’ve ever read. i loved the story and the telling was so fucking good! not spon btw lol
I heard someone say after doing dmt whilst on acid, “I feel like we’re all octopus tentacles, aware of each other, having our own nervous systems, perceiving things slightly differently.”
You are MacGuyvering Cracked back into a channel I am excited to check in on. This Swaimaissance has been a long time coming.
I think it feels a bit more like a reswaimgence.

Yeah, what happened to Cracked? It just kinda went away in the late 2010's...
whoever is running Cracked now... you've got lightning in a bottle. Pay the man.
Michael Swaim returning to cracked has already improved it noticeably. I love the comedy museum notion as well
This was kinda fun. Keep doin the work to get Cracked back on its feet.

He could've made it as a rapper, TBH. I haven't forgotten about that song, about being lost in the woods... It was so catchy!

Hicks was a racist, sexist idiot who smeared an anti-racist with fake plagiarism claims. He'd be a Trump supporter these days.
Bill hicks was silenced by cancer culture run amok
James Acaster is the man.
Acaster is one of those folks that if he was born 1000 years ago, would still have been an entertainer.
Human joie de vivre
I really couldn't stand him when he first appeared on panel shows, then I saw his stand up and I was like "damn, he's really good"!

I'm here for all of it, we need more! like individually and collectively lol
