Cramorant having a ROM Hack with Pokemon Yellow as it's base game is canon because it's signature ability, Gulp Missile, has it eating a Pikachu when it's below 50% health, and inflicts paralysis on it's opponent, which is weird and quirky.
I couldn't put Crystal Clear in S due to the sole fact that the creator replaced the E4 with their own OCs and made themselves the champion. It was so cringe I didn't finish. They would have been better off as post-game super bosses. There were other issues I had but they are more minor.

As funny as it sounds, I think Brown hasn't aged well with all the competition it has! Thanks for this, though! It's great to see people talking about Pokemon ROM hacks
im currently playing the dx version and crystal clear.. i really like the freedom of the Crystal Clear, the DX one is really hard, i installed the challenge mode gen 1, never played a game as hard as that one and i played a lot and i mean a lot of pokemon games and hackroms. By the way! i was able to battle myself with 2 different characters on Pokemon Crystal Clear with TGB Dual, its a GBC game and i just created a Gary character with a charmander, the second one is a Blue Girl with Asuka as a name, she has an squirtle and did everything i could to connect myself so i could trade or battle, you know, the 2 characters are different and they started on different cities so i challenged myself having 1 charmander on one side and a squirtle on the other side and charmander won because it started with Outrage as a move, i believe the 2 last moves are random moves once you start, my squirtle had mirror coat and confusion wich was not enough to defeat a charmander with outrage! by the way i believe i will not delete that move because is perfect to defeat dragons.
The best one for me didnt make this list due to it running on advance. Crystal Advance looks and feels a lot like FireRed or LeafGreen while hosting the Crystal world of both Johto and Kanto. The phone system is removed but the trainers that would call you once they found an elemental stone now simply give it after being defeated, similarly there is a merchant for a Link Cable item to evolve trade evolved pokemon. For me the best enhancement is reworking the entire Crystal moveset system to where thing now make perfect sense if they calculated of psysical strength or special attack stats, think of Aqua Tail for psysical water move versus surf as special based water move, or ghost moves like Shadowball now being coded as special attack move. I also quite like how the 3 original gen 1 starters now have a low encounter rate in Ilex Forest for Bulbasaur, Whirl Islands for Squirtle and lastly Burned Tower for Charmander which are all quite fitting imo.
I heard it's the 9bit version you want for that one though, as that adds a ton of Pokemon, but seems to ONLY be available from their Discord. Like...I was looking for it earlier today, and it doesn't seem to be ANYWHERE on the more visible internet at all, surprisingly.
I have I have Pokemon Brown is S tier. It is really good at what it does. The 2 main things that Brown does are: 1) Gives us an new Gen 1 game with an original story. The Gen 1 mechanics can be really fun to play around with. There are a lot of pokemon that are almost never used in playthroughs in later games that were quite powerful and fun in gen 1. However, there are only 2 completed gen 1 rom hacks with their own story and map that I am aware of. 2) Pokemon brown allows us to use later generation pokemon under gen 1 mechanics. Example: Blissey. Imagine a Blissey with a 135 SpA. That is the type of thing that you get in this game. You can't put Pokemon TRE in the C tier. The rest of the games in that tier are jokes (both literally and figuratively). TRE is one of only two gen 1 rom hacks with its own region and story. Plus you get to play as team rocket (kind of). You have to at least put in "B" tier. It is complete, has its own unique region and story, and it did it all in gen 1. I had a Cloyster in my final team. In what other generations is cloyster a great end game pokemon?
Believe it or not, Pink Version isn't a hoax. For a very brief time, Gamefreak considered releasing Pink along with Yellow Version, but ultimately decided against it. There's code in Yellow that supports this, and DYKG covered the topic not long ago too. ^^
Have you ever played Ancient Ruby or Ancient Saphire? It´s exactly what you´re thinking, a Crystal ROM hack recreating Ruby and Saphire, I played it for a couple of minutes and was blown away! Sadly the game is not finished yet.
I'm currently trying to get through Blue Kaizo with Hardcore Nuzlocke rules. Managed to beat Brock and Misty without any items (I am using documentation though)
O my real downfall is they decided to neuter alakazam with the element punches. He’s fine as normal use and still OP but damn the one game he’s allowed to dominate with element punches and they took it away. Otherwise it’s a great game.
Great video! I played a crystal Gold Spaceworld version with the original Pokedex when out and was very nice! Btw have you seen this gen 9 demakes battles?? I don't know if there is a gen 9 japanese demake or what!
What were the twitch versions they made called, anniversary edition? Those were great 'standard' ROM hacks. Although now with Smith legacy editions, these have become the game standard for sure.. I love crystal clear, but it very much is an embellished game and nothing like the originals
Bro you gotta stop touching your mic/mic stand/desk when recording these I can't watch it with headphones on. I left you a like but even on 5%, I can hear the thuds in the recording. Much love, maybe look into a shock mount.

Good video but I think most people who click on this are gonna look for ROMs to play and this kinda assumes you know something about these.
Right! Barely explains anything 🤦♂️
i've been romming since i was 8 in 95 bro, without youtube c'mon kid.

There's a Pokemon Brown?!!! 😂😂😂
legacy crystal just came out, and it's a banger!
If it's gen 2 I'm definitely gonna check it out?
@@cicada4883 the guy who made it has a pretty cool yt channel covering his philosophy! Its called smith plays pokemon or smth
Cannot wait for Coral to be finished
You and me both
You missed the best one: Polished Crystal.
This! Especially the 9bit version which is continually being improved to this day. It always seems like CC gets the spotlight.
good video. thanks for the recommendations
Polished crystal and Red ++ are goated gbc rom hacks

Spaceworld 97 is a thing of beauty, honestly feels like a better gen 2

I'd check out Polished Crystal. It has a bunch of QOL and modern features, as well as later gen Pokémon.

Any generation after it got shell smash
So glad to see Pokémon Bronze getting more love ❤❤
And YES the sequel is fantastic!!!
any thoughts on the crystal legacy ROM hack and the rest of the legacy ROM hacks?

Polished Crystal is hands down my favorite
Who's pumped for the kanto expansion pass?
Thanks for the video! I might check a couple of these out.
"Shin Pokemon" one of the best
Pokemon Orange was amazing, no stupid random new types, fun new map and had a nice flow to it.
are any of these only gen 1?
Yes several are, like creepy black, The first Orange Island game, and TRE to name a few
Prism, BW3, Orange and Coral are my favorite gbc hacks. Been planning to try bronze out next.
Where's Periwinkle?
There's a new rom hack of pokemon crystal: pokemon crystal legacy. I'd check it out. Cool stuff
Have you ever played Ancient Ruby or Ancient Saphire? It´s exactly what you´re thinking, a Crystal ROM hack recreating Ruby and Saphire, I played it for a couple of minutes and was blown away! Sadly the game is not finished yet.
I have not heard of that but it sounds very promising! Can't wait to check it out!
Unfortunately it looks like Ancient Ruby is not coming out for years.
Which of these games are compatible to Stadium 2 other than Crystal Clear?
Prism was so good
Gotta play em all
Where would Righteous Red fall in this tier list?
That's one promising looking Hack, id probably put that in A at the very least but that could change
Nice! Maybe it can rise up if you get the chance to play it. :)
Kinda surprised Fools gold isn't here. Can we expect an updated tier list that includes it and the Kanto Expansion Pack?
I'm currently trying to get through Blue Kaizo with Hardcore Nuzlocke rules. Managed to beat Brock and Misty without any items (I am using documentation though)
Try and say the mod name more. I had to rewatch three times to catch the name of the first mod
Where are the Polished Crystal , and Crystal Legacy! Those 2 may be on rank SS
For pokemon red dx does anyone know how to change the difficulty and level curve in the game I'm getting stomped
A tier baybeee! Blessed.
A++ but the more it sits with me the more I think it should be S
Dark energy also good for those who like. It has some cool features
Good list but you should add quarantine to s tier
Crystal Legacy S+ Tier
I may or may not be playing that one soon, im excited

Way to go, playing the Lavender music and making me shit my pants.
This was not the intention lol
Look at us discussing emegal activities 😂
Crystal legacy?
Did you snag an Analogue Pocket?
I did not, id certainly love to get my hands on one someday!
I managed to get the blue one, but now I can't find the bag that had all my games in it! T_T@@cicada4883

Coral?
Crystal Clear is the best one so it's S tier. Perfect Crystal is A tier for me.

I think those were the TPP games. The Smith made games are certainly some fun ROM hacks!
Crystal clear. *chefs kiss
Bronze is a decent hack, but it was the first hack I played that is less enjoyable than the vanilla games.
prism is pretty great
Make that gba rom hack tier list!!!
No fool's gold?
Crazy you didn't speak of Red++
Thank's brow
Aw man I gotta disagree on Red & Blue DX. As far as Gen 1 enhanced editions go I feel Red++ Version is far superior
Why no pokemon brown?
HE PUT IN IN A STOP BEING BLIND
Yes, shoutout to the people who made these rom hacks. Nintendos lawyers are on the way.
GB/GBC ranking without Pokémon Kanto Expansion Pak and Red++ aren't ranking /s
Pokemon Grape...
I’ve been wanting to try it out. What would you rank it?
@ryubreathoffire1 if you like Gameboy color stuff it's a solid 8
@ You’re right, this is a gem. Thanks
I bought Oia thinking it was the Orange and Yeah... Not my favorite game. tried it. Definitely not playing it again.
polished crystal is way better
No radical red?
RadRed is a GBA hack.

The best are Pokémon Brown and Pokémon Grape from 80c. And you don t even mentioning them?
He put pokemon Brown in A tier watch more then 50 seconds of the dang video
crystal clear is such a let down, same old map, no rival? It shouldnt even get B to be fair.
