When you have siblings, you just go by your naturally opposing aesthetics. My brother always loved the warm colors (Red, Gold, Ruby, Fire Red, Pearl, Heart Gold, Black, Black 2, Y, Omega Ruby, Sun, Ultra Sun, and Shield), so of course… because those were my brother’s colors, I was drawn to and got the cooler colors (Blue, Silver, Sapphire, Leaf Green, Diamond, Soul Silver, White, White 2, X, Alpha Sapphire, Moon, Ultra Moon, and Sword).
My brother and I grew up doing the same, right into adulthood. We always ended up wanting the opposite of the other so it worked well. My brother and I were the same as you, except we were swapped on b/w.

Mine are weird, i prefer the blue color scheme except very specific times Red, Silver, Sapphire, Fire red, Diamond, Soul Silver, Black, Black 2, X, Alpha Sapphire, Moon, Ultra Moon, Let's go pikachu and Sword
Michael: We will not include enhanced versions specifically yellow, crystal, emerald and platinum as they r the better games IGN: gives ruby and sapphire 9.5/10 Gives emerald 8/10
Ikr Emerald was 1000x better than Ruby /Sapphire, earlier this year I was going to transfer my emerald and ruby Pokemon over to Pokemon HOME. I had 400 hours of gameplay in Emerald and 121 hours in Ruby
That's probably the best advantage go has over the mainstream games. The fact that you can catch basically every Pokémon, except the less than a dozen regional exclusives based on where you live, and possibly legendaries
When you were comparing Vileplume to Victribell with petal dance and Razor leaf for Red and Blue, its also worth noting that what you were saying later about speed and high crit moves in gen one also applies to razor leaf. Even not that fast pokemon would get insanely high crit rate with razorleaf.
Wow 8 universes ahead of Mikey! Me who’s got every Pokémon game including side games and spin-offs. Hmmmmmm how many universes am I ahead of all u peasants!? 9999999999 perhaps 🤔
Ditto; I only skipped on getting both versions for gen I (got Red as a gift and was 11 so couldn't go out and buy Blue), IV (poor college student who couldn't afford Pearl/Platinum), and VII (got both Sun and Moon but was so put off by them I didn't *want* USUM)
Not exclusives, but I think in Gen 1 it's still worth mentioning Caterpie/Weedle. In Red, Viridian forest will be swarming with Weedle making that early game stretch harder if your Pokemon get poisoned. By contrast, not only is Viridian forest easier in Blue, but Caterpie evolves into the much more useful Butterfree, so not having to put as much effort into finding one is a double plus.
I think it's the same way in hgss, you couldn't find weedle where you find caterpie in Heart Gold, I never would use them because there's Many other bugs I wanna use but I will choose HG mostly because I would evolve caterpie and just keep it to follow me around while walking 😂
me: how come he's done with Hoenn even though I'm not even halfway through the video yet? Micheal: show's the version exclusives in Fire Red and Leaf Green Me:Oh.
Good call choosing Bastiodan over Rampardos. Something to keep in mind is that having a Pokemon with great defenses can buy you time to heal your team back up if you have sustained heavy loses.
Video idea: strongest pokemon of every type based on based stat total, move pool, and type coverage. Legendaries excluded of course and maybe if a pokemon has two types then you should only put them as the strongest for only one of their type
For the Ho-Oh and Lugia situation, I would say that their signature moves are "version exclusive." When accessing to catch these legendary Pokémon early (Level 40), they have their signature move, Sacred Fire for Ho-Oh and Aeroblast for Lugia. When getting them after defeating Pokémon League and access to the Kanto region, they will be Level 70 without their signature move. Since Gen 2 doesn't have any move relearner (only move deleter). That just means that obtaining their signature move would be available by trading or cheat code. The enhanced version (Pokémon Crystal) isn’t better either as both legendary Pokémon are post-Pokémon League so they are higher levels but not as high as its sister versions (Level 60) and they don't have their signature moves. Of course, the remakes (HGSS) improved this by having access both signature moves for each legendary Pokémon.
Honestly, In my opinion I like zacian. But maybe that’s just because of my OP one in my copy of sword who I named “good doggo”. Perhaps Zamezenta is better, but people who play sword wouldn’t know.

I don't really pick a specific one. Sometimes I'll go for a specific one, like with Sun and Moon where I preferred Moon since I like Lunala a lot more than Solgaleo. Donphan vs Ursaring should have been a clear win for Donpahn, and Skarmory was/is so incredibly crucial in competitive gen 2 that by himself he should make pokemon silver win. Competitively speaking all the rest is trash (except for the legendaries).
I recently did a Nuzlocke of Leaf Green and ended up soloing the entire Elite Four with only a Starmie Ev trained in Special Attack and Speed. Definitely the better one between it and Cloyster lol
For me, usually a matter of which version of each set of games has the most version-exclusive Pokemon I prefer; it usually ends up being the first of a pair, but I can remember retroactively wishing I had played blue, because I came to like Magmar; that's why I got LeafGreen, but my first Pokemon game was Yellow, anyway.
Another point for gold versions: You don't need whilrpool in the story. That's wrong sry "Everything is garbage" blah blah blah. Once Whirlpool is necessary.
I know this video is like 6 months old or whatever but I can add one more thing sapphire has: 1 more pokemon. Because wild lunatone are available, they can carry moon stones. Because of this, both delcatty and wigglytuff can be obtained. However, in ruby, there are no lunatone, meaning there's only one moon stone in the whole game, meaning you can only get one or the other.
There are often story differences from the special version, or even minor sequel status, so it is also worth playing the base games for the base story experience.
26:06 However, I disagree. Mismagius learns both Perish Song and Mean Look, meaning that you can take down difficult opponents without type matchups mattering, assuming your opponent can’t KO Mismagius in two turns.
Another interesting thing about Ho-Oh and Lugia in GS is the lack of a Move Reminder. The higher level one will have already forgotten their best/signature move, making them far weaker than they could be. At level 70, Ho-Oh will know Fire Blast instead of Sacred Fire and Lugia will know Hydro Pump instead of Aeroblast. All in all, choosing Gold gets you an excellent Ho-Oh and an awful Lugia. Silver gets an excellent Lugia and an okay Ho-Oh.
So true! Also the comparison between Aeroblast and Fly in the video is just incorrect for gen 2, since fly had 70 base power back then, and not 90, so Aeroblast is just WAY better.
13:50 you can actually catch one of the roaming Eon PKMN in both games. This can be done involving a glitch in which you lose in the Battle Tower, then encounter a roaming PKMN, and the team that you battled in the Battle Tower will appear. Its kinda tricky to explain, but the point is, any PKMN you fight in the Battle Tower is catchable by this glitch. It can be done once per save file, so you can catch Latios or Latias, as they spawn in the Battle Tower
I didn't know this. I saw my first and only shiny Pokemon in the battle tower. I was like... tf? Then realized the only shiny I ever saw was uncatchable. 😭 Not counting Red Gyarados. I didn't even know shiny Pokemon existed.

Kyogre also gets to combine its weather boost with STAB, making its waterspouts truly devastating.
Meanwhile it’s weather is worse for it than the sun is for groundon, simply because no one was planning to use a fire type move on a water type, but getting rid of groundons water weakness is massive and the sun allows nonsense such as 1 turn solar beams

Good call choosing Bastiodan over Rampardos. Something to keep in mind is that having a Pokemon with great defenses can buy you time to heal your team back up if you have sustained heavy loses.

At least Crystal has the adorable Kris.
Michael: If you choose to teach Ho-Oh or Lugia Fly.
Me: Uh... they already know Fly, Michael.
For the Ho-Oh and Lugia situation, I would say that their signature moves are "version exclusive."
When accessing to catch these legendary Pokémon early (Level 40), they have their signature move, Sacred Fire for Ho-Oh and Aeroblast for Lugia.

Michael the lack of Ampharos in Crystal upsets me too! It's the one thing keeping Crystal from being a perfect game.
Another point for gold versions:
You don't need whilrpool in the story.
That's wrong sry "Everything is garbage" blah blah blah.
Once Whirlpool is necessary.
Yes you do, in the Dragon’s Den, which, btw, you need to go into to get the Dragon Fang, and thus, the Rising Badge
.
Brussel Gaming Truer words have yet to be spoken.
I prefer silver
ShardTheDDon your correct
What you said about crystal version not having Ampharos is something I've felt since a child
You can get a Perish Song Murkrow by breeding with Altaria. (No HA Prankster yet though.)
Not counting Red Gyarados. I didn't even know shiny Pokemon existed.

Remember when i was a kid playing gold/silver for the first time. No internet or information, just me and my gameboy trying to figure out all theses secrets in the game. It took me 1 year chasing thoses bastards to catch them all. The feeling when a miltank beat the crap out of my team. The feeling when you have to take hours to leveling, stuck in some dark cave v.v… that’s how pokemon game should be. So sad to see pkm game getting bad these days.
