@@theamazingspooderman2697I believe doom desire and future sight hit through protect so again, they still force offensive pressure. Doom desire being F tier is kinda crazy

Thousand Waves actually had use on one of the scariest Zygarde complete sets in Ubers where he would trap in a weaker mon and then coil or D Dance for days and sweep from there. It still probably wouldn’t be that high because it’s still totally outclassed by Thousand Arrows, but it could be a tier maybe 2 up. Also you missed the part where Core Enforcer negates the opponents ability. It would be so good on Zygarde if only it were a physical attack
Yeah saying thousand waves is D tier just because thousand arrows exists is ludicrous. And even then these moves serve different purposes. Heck, thousand waves should have been much, much higher…
Darkrai is way better cause his passive would null sturdy and focus sash automatically right after he put both opponents to sleep not to mention unlike the copy boy his stats are great The issue is that darkrai is pretty much never allowed in any competition
Non-Scarfed Kyogre will often get outsped and hit before moving itself in the metagames where it is allowed, so those sets will either completely forgo Water Spout or run Water Spout and Origin Pulse together.
Kyogre tends to run both moves. Origin Pulse is a good backup if your Kyogre gets worn down during a match, or even if you know your opponent's Pokémon is faster and will attack Kyogre first
I don't think you realize how broken Thousand Arrows is It's not only the best ground type move, it's the best offensive move in the game. Ground is offensively broken and is only balanced by the fact that levitate and flying exist. Literally any setup pokemon that would learn this could go for a mono attacker set with this attack and ruin the game
V-create has always been my personal favorite signature move. It was why I was so amazed to see Mega Rayquaza get announced, because to this day there are only three pokemon that ever got V-create. Victini of course, Smeargle obviously, and there was one event Rayquaza that got V-create, and thanks to great trade I got with a Japanese player, I got a fully EV trained legitimate V-create event Rayquaza just in time for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, so needless to say, that was pretty great.

The absolute difference in power between roar of time and spacial rend is downright criminal. You get way more damage in 2 turns with SR and the high crit rate just rubs salt in the wound
Core Enforcer over Thousand Waves is a terrible take. Yes, it’s a good move. 100 BP no drawbacks is good, but it’s a Special Attack exclusive to a predominantly Physical Attacker. You also forgot to mention its effect to nullify the abilities of the Pokémon it hits, which is great; however, since Zygarde is slow in its Complete Forme and has an even lower Special Attacks in its faster forms, the effect is wasted on it. Thousands Waves is a Physical Attack, which is exactly what Zygarde wants. Additionally, you severely underrate trapping abilities, especially in VGC. A Complete Forme Zygarde which traps two Pokémon which struggle to whittle down its HP are basically dead. That’s half a VGC team in any given battle. Ground type is also a better offensive type than Dragon and will hit more types for super-effective damage. Thousand Arrows is arguably Zygarde’s best move, but Thousand Waves can shine in its own right. Core Enforcer and Land’s Wrath are both lower tier by comparison.
I think Doom Desire is better than you give it credit for. Sure, Serene Grace Iron Head is great, so Doom Desire usually isn’t the steel STAB of choice, that’s fair. But it’s a stronger version of Future Sight, which has seen a good deal of usage in singles now that it’s 120 power and 100% accurate. You can use it to deal psychic type damage and another type on the same turn, which puts a ton of pressure on the opposing team. Psychic and fighting is an absolutely lethal combination for example, because most Pokemon don’t resist both of those types. Doom Desire is the same move, but it’s steel type and 20 base power stronger. In the context of Jirachi’s movepool, Doom Desire isn’t great, sure, but I don’t think it’s F tier bad
To quote a foreign dairy-based youtuber parodying an old commercial: "It's my damage and I want it now." And that's another big problem, that it is actually Steel-type damage. 140 base power is nice, but only if it can actually deal that damage. Aside from against Fairies, Steel kinda sucks offensively. Future Sight was buffed to 120 and 100% and sees zero play. So why would Doom Desire on something as frail as Jirachi when it can either be a glass cannon, a supporter, or a flinching monster.
I dont understand the Shadow Force placing, especially since Giratina learns Poltergeist now. I think it's an F/D Tier move. Also, Take Heart is Calm Mind, not Cosmic Power
Take Heart also deserved Double S instead of A since it gave Phione a ZU niche for a little bit before tier shifts. Can't believe JPR forgot such a monumental buff smh...
Psystrike 100% deserves more credit, being able to hit an opponent’s physical defense with your special attack is huge for an offensive special attacker.
Yes. Psystrike is just a better Psyshock, and Keldeo's Secret Sword is just a Fighting-type Psyshock. Both are great options for getting around special walls. On that note, I don't think there was mention of Sacred Sword, the signature move of the Swords of Justice, which ignores defense and evasion boosts and gets boosted by Sharpness. It would probably be in B for being solid.
Small note on the Bears: Hitting through Protect has nothing to do with "Wicked Blow"/"Surging Strikes". That comes from them being contact moves and Ursh´s ability making contact moves ignore "Protect".
I think sunsteel and moongeist should be A tier because of the ignoring parts of the moves which are helpful in niche cases but still seperate them a bit from the B tier
Yea, I can fully acknowledge roar of time's drawback but it's great for taking something out, then just swap pokemon to get rid of the cooldown. Besides, I've been carrying a dialga from all the way from og Pokemon Diamond, so no chance I'm ditching him now 😁
Move the genie storm moves to A and spectral thief/thousand arrows to S. These moves are actually so good (thousand arrows is broken because of how spammable it is, which in turn makes Zygarde’s dragon stab more threatening) and Spectral Thief bypasses substitute, meaning boost sweepers hiding behind a sub are NOT safe.
IMO Origin Pulse should be bumped down a bit - it's still good, but the 110BP/80% accuracy combo is very inconsistent (especially compared to Water Spout, which Kyogre also gets)
Oblivion Wing is incredible for a choice specs set. Since Yvetal is naturally bulky, it tends to survive hits, and then it proceeds to hit the foe for MASSIVE damage and healing all the way up. Granted, it’s only used on one set and relatively inconsistent since you can’t guarantee you’ll run into a favorable matchup, let alone trap a favorable matchup, but it’s not *never* used.
Hey man, I’m just reading through the comments and seeing there are a lot criticising and correcting, just wanted to say this was such a great video. Highlights the barrage of Urshifus in VGC! I really enjoyed it, keep it up man 😅
Meloetta’s Relic Song should at least be D Tier. It actually has a secondary effect of 10% Chance to put the opponent to sleep. _Meloetta’s ability is Serene Grace._ On top of that, it’s a Sound based Spread Move.
Where's Zekrom Kick? Edit: I'd move thunder cage down a tier. If you look on pikalytics it isn't even listed in moves that it uses. And Smogon doesn't even have thunder cage listed in any of its movesets.
I definitely feel like Mewtwo's Psystrike should be higher. 100 BP 100% Accuracy move with Psyshock effect goes crazy on such a powerful special attacker
I haven't watched your channel in a bit (not on purpose just been busy) and wow you changed a lot. You feel a lot more professional here and it's more enjoyable to watch. If this was a one-off style video then that's fine and you do what you want to do but I thought I'd leave my feedback. I love this new style.
Doom Desire is NOT F tier. Its a stronger steel type Future Sight and Future Sight is key to anti-stall tactics. For starters, Doom Desire Jirachi is a best friend to any Dragon or Dark type attacker, since if you opponent switches in a Fairy take Knock off or Draco Meteor, it will also have to take a stab 140 base power supereffective steel move.
"How Can a Lance Hit two People!?" Well, While on Horseback, you come from the enemy's Flank with Lance couched. Raise it up and pierce through one person, and into the next.
I bet Techno Blast would be better (or at least considered more often) if the Drives did more than just change the type of the attack. Maybe give it an adjusting additional effect that changes with the drive? Like a 50% chance to burn/Paralyze/Freeze/whatever-works-for-water the opponent. Or maybe Genesect could get an ability that effectively gives it a third type when it has a Drive equipped, so that the Douse and Burn Drives could come in with a Flame-resistance, but new weaknesses.... making your opponent pay attention to the model/sprite for the tiny detail that can tell them what type would be super effective against it. They should really restore Dark Void's accuracy.... but keep the "If won't work if not used by Darkrai" limit. All these moves that are just reskins of extra attacks should probably get some extra buff... so that way the Legendary pokemon's version of the attack will be a cut above the regular version.
From a purely casual perspective, Roar of Time was at its best in its debut. The move's animation took a while to get through, but it made great use of that time to showcase the raw power behind it. Now, it's just a glorified laser beam.
Haven’t finished the vid yet, but PLEASE, somebody besides me needs to acknowledge that PMD explorers Roar of Time is soooo much better than the lame beam we get in the main series
Aeroblast is pretty much objectively the best Flying-type special move out there, since its main competitors are Air Slash, which is like 35 BP weaker, and Hurricane, which is 70% accurate outside of rain. If this move was ever given distribution, it would be seen on every special flyer except for Pelipper in singles, and a handful of other rain team mons in VGC. Not sure if that merits placing it above B-tier or not, but it’s worth mentioning that Aeroblast should be graded on a curve, here
Fiery Wrath is more of a stronger all-opponents Dark Pulse. Same flinch chance, type and accuracy, just 10 more power and attacks both opponents. Also, Manaphy's Take Heart is not Cosmic Power that removes status, but a Calm Mind that removes status.
Imagine if Meloetta’s different forms were things like Normal/Dark and Normal/Ghost and you could Relic Song to turn immune to an incoming Fighting-type move, that would’ve been interesting. Just a thought.
I personally like Meloettas move it Hase some unpredictability on it that the Oponent isn't sure at the start if it's physical, special or mixed builds, it allows you to simply avoid the dark weakness by turning into fighting, and has a 10% chance to inflict sleep which gets boosted cause of Serene Grace.
I feel like all of the F Tier Legendary Pokémon signature moves need to get buffed. Freeze Shock buff would be it doesn’t need a charge effect if electric terrain is activate. Plus make the move accuracy 100%. Ice burn would be like Freeze Shock but instead of electric terrain to not have a charge effect, it must be harsh sunlight. Plus make the move accuracy 100%. Prismatic Laser, Eternabeam, and Roar of Time buff would be you can’t use these moves twice in a row. Just like with Gigaton Hammer. Doom Desire would be like Ice Burn. No charge time while harsh sunlight is up. Maybe nerf the base power of the move. Crush Grip would also increase the power depending on the opponent Pokémon’s height and weight. Relic Song would be making the base power of the move to 90.
Here is how you improve relic song: first off make it so it is a special attack in aria form and a physical attack in pirouette form, make it so its secondary effect happens even if the foe is immune or if it misses, lastly make its sleep percentage increase to base 20%.
As for the others, i love the idea for most except doom desire and crush grip. Doom desire is just fine for bateing out fairy types, and crush grip would be fine if it were not for regigigases ability.
Doom desire made usable special pivot jirachi in dragon spam, it was simple, you use doom desire, then u turn, then outrage in band dnite for example. It was a extremely solid strat that made people peak top 1 ladder in some metagames. This ranking cannot be taking seriously for this, and other examples such as thunder cage in A
Seeing this video I realise that LPA Shadow Force (100 power and drop the targets speed but raise evasion) and especially Legend plate judgement (changes the user and move type to be super effective against the opponent) would be OP in a classic game
Roar of Time needs to be reduced in power; 120 (Or 100 to match Spacial Rend), have Negative Priority, and Force an Opponent to Switch Pokémon just like Roar's effect! That would be a great redesign for this move!
I've never thought about how to make dialga busted but a stab earthquake clone that set up trick room would instantly improve its singles and doubles viability
Oh helll nahhhh. If ANY ability or ANY move sets up trick room as a side effect it's the most broken thing ever. Even if the user is a freaking magicarp
Just finding out Zygarde has FOUR signature moves. Only knew about Thousand Waves, Thousand Arrows, and Core Enforcer (which I completely forgot about) before lol
Actually, I love Relic Song. I have a mixed Meloetta set with Relic song and psychic (for its regular form) and Close Combat and Knock off/Facade/etc for its Pirouette form. Works pretty well
my favorite manaphy set is to used Scald, Stored Power, Acid Armor, and Take Heart( which is actually a calm mind variant not cosmic power) Because I get super bulky and people keep trying to toxic me and get totally thrown off when i cure myself with take heart
Doom Desire is kind of an underrated move in gen3 If you manage to build a team that allows Choice Band Jirachi to use Doom Desire multiple times, its really hard for the opponent to counter it cuz it has no resistances and its a rare Jirachi set I saw a battle on BKC's channel where an ADV OU Pro mansged to pull it off
2:50 it also bypasses protect, and hits through substitutes. Its not a worse psychic, its upgraded psychic. the only reason i would use psychic over this move is because in scarlet and violet it automatically replaces with hyperspace furry and an unbound hoopa can not have it. If it were not for that i would replace psychic with it instantly!
reasoning was explained in the video...heavy slam is usually a better move than behemoth bash on zamazenta because of its weigh (in VGC context this is usually to demolish Flutter Mane), while zacian has no stronger option
Literally the easiest fix they could do for dark void to restore its former glory is give it another effect that its only 100% accurate when darkrai uses it
Have you ever heard of big boss and demon zygarde, big boss would d dance and sweep with thousand waves while demon would trap you without thousand waves if you were a bad matchup and then proceed to use coil to set up all while the other pokemon sits helpless
HEARTBEAT HEARTBREAK !!! Love the video, I always try to keep signature moves on my legendaries I keep for collection, but a lot of them do suck. Love get Jojo’s and persona references in a Pokémon video! The trifecta of my life :D
I'd like to make a correction: People don't use Enamorus not because Springtide Storm bad, but because trying to get an Enamorus with 0 IVs in Attack and Speed is basically impossible, because you need to BEAT LEGENDS ARCEUS FOR ONE ATTEMPT AT GETTING ONE WITH THE RIGHT IVS like, if it's not the right IVs, you literally need to rebeat the entire game in order to get another shot, because you can only see the IVs when you transfer it out of the game, and that requires you to save the game
they really didn't go overboard, both can still hold up to other restricted legendaries, with Zamazenta being stronger than ever. The only thing they should have gone overboard with nerfing is the Calirex riders and Urshifu.
Double Iron Bash is easily S tier! 60 BP move that hits twice 100% accuracy (so basically 120 steel type move no drawbacks) AND 30% flinch chance per hit... yes 30 PERCENT?! This move is above S tier honestly

Well, RIP JPR. You disrespected Giratina and will probably be sent to the void by it
"Looks like you're going to the Shadow Realm, Jimbo!"
im pretty sure take heart is like calm mind, not cosmic power.
yeah I def misread the description while scripting my b
@@JPRPokeTrainer98 its not a big deal srry for being annoying i j had to say it💀
Double Iron Bash is S tier, that flinch chance + power is so nasty
Melmetal has 34 base speed so it’s never flinching…
Yeah, because trick room does not exist...
as a dialga fan, its so sad and unfair that roar of time has cooldown but spacial rend does not..
The genie storm moves should be A tier because they are so reliant on rain, thus not being great moves in every situation.
Eternabeam is still in the game
Roar of Time setting up trick room makes so much sense
Meloetta’s Relic Song should at least be D Tier. It actually has a secondary effect of 10% Chance to put the opponent to sleep. _Meloetta’s ability is Serene Grace._
On top of that, it’s a Sound based Spread Move.
Where's Zekrom Kick?
Edit: I'd move thunder cage down a tier. If you look on pikalytics it isn't even listed in moves that it uses. And Smogon doesn't even have thunder cage listed in any of its movesets.
Great tier list aside, the sound effects for the moves are KILLING me. The metal pipe for Behemoth Bash was the most unexpected lmao
as a VGC player, astral barrage and glacial lange is for me automatically S tier even without watching this video 😁
I definitely feel like Mewtwo's Psystrike should be higher. 100 BP 100% Accuracy move with Psyshock effect goes crazy on such a powerful special attacker
12:30
Fun fact, it steals the boosts before calculating damage, and *only* the boosts… 0_0
Considering how already prominent cress was in VGC, lunar blessing should go up in A Teir
This video was a lot more entertaining than I expected it to be. I appreciate the effort put in trying to keep it entertaining. Great job 👍.
The effect of hitting through protect is urshifud ability, not an effect of the move
take heart is calm mind, not cosmic power
also phione has access to it too[and i think magearna has heart swap]
Doom Desire is NOT F tier. Its a stronger steel type Future Sight and Future Sight is key to anti-stall tactics.
For starters, Doom Desire Jirachi is a best friend to any Dragon or Dark type attacker, since if you opponent switches in a Fairy take Knock off or Draco Meteor, it will also have to take a stab 140 base power supereffective steel move.
You forgot Mist Ball and Luster Purge
They're better off running either Psychic or even Psyshock instead.
"How Can a Lance Hit two People!?" Well, While on Horseback, you come from the enemy's Flank with Lance couched. Raise it up and pierce through one person, and into the next.
Signature moves range from meh to demonic and I love them. V create especially is great, even more so on mega Ray
7:10 given how double spinning edge is playing in the background, I'm guessing you have played all 3 Xenoblade chronicles games.
you know it 👌
I bet Techno Blast would be better (or at least considered more often) if the Drives did more than just change the type of the attack.
For the drives instead of making them hold items they should be key items.
From a purely casual perspective, Roar of Time was at its best in its debut. The move's animation took a while to get through, but it made great use of that time to showcase the raw power behind it. Now, it's just a glorified laser beam.
Nowdays it's Roar of Tim.
I've actually had matches where Ice Burn was a pretty good grabber of momentum
Behemoth Bash should be in A Tier
In Super Mystery Dungeon, Crush Grip is actually quite broken outside of boss fights (also helps that Regigigas only gets a speed nerf in that game).
This ranking cannot be taking seriously for this, and other examples such as thunder cage in A
thunder cage in A is funny because i've never seen it being used by anyone
I know, maybe it will be a good move on another Pokemon but Regieleki doesn’t benefit from trapping opponents, it just wants to hit hard and run
give it to raging bolt or thundurus and it would be good
Seeing this video I realise that LPA Shadow Force (100 power and drop the targets speed but raise evasion) and especially Legend plate judgement (changes the user and move type to be super effective against the opponent) would be OP in a classic game
Roar of Time needs to be reduced in power; 120 (Or 100 to match Spacial Rend), have Negative Priority, and Force an Opponent to Switch Pokémon just like Roar's effect! That would be a great redesign for this move!
Technoblast is actually pretty decent because it can give Genesect sneaky water coverage.
Not just that doesn't it work like its ability and change to physical/special based on the targets stats?
@@tonic9539 No, it's always a special move. They only implemented something like that from gen 7 onward.
@@bananaspice1967 i just double checked and it turns out all they did was raise its power in gen 6 to 120 instead of 85.
@@tonic9539 Yep, it's a good move now. Still niche however.
Doom Desire is kind of an underrated move in gen3
If you manage to build a team that allows Choice Band Jirachi to use Doom Desire multiple times, its really hard for the opponent to counter it cuz it has no resistances and its a rare Jirachi set
I saw a battle on BKC's channel where an ADV OU Pro mansged to pull it off
D Tier them S's in ya script was BACK TO BACK you was tearing my hears up lol but i liked it
2:50 it also bypasses protect, and hits through substitutes. Its not a worse psychic, its upgraded psychic. the only reason i would use psychic over this move is because in scarlet and violet it automatically replaces with hyperspace furry and an unbound hoopa can not have it. If it were not for that i would replace psychic with it instantly!
Cosmic power raises a pokemon's defense and special defense by one stage, take heart is basically like calm mind with the status cure bonus!
Happy JpR Friday
What I find strange is that behemoth blade is above behemoth bash, even though they are literally reskins of each other on different Pokémon.
reasoning was explained in the video...heavy slam is usually a better move than behemoth bash on zamazenta because of its weigh (in VGC context this is usually to demolish Flutter Mane), while zacian has no stronger option
0:50 dang where’d you come up with that idea that’d be busted… it’d have to have the same priority as trick room though
Literally the easiest fix they could do for dark void to restore its former glory is give it another effect that its only 100% accurate when darkrai uses it
The fact that both ("both") gen 8 moves are top of S tier really says something about what we might expect from broken restricted gen 9 moves.
7:57 Star Platinum
Have you ever heard of big boss and demon zygarde, big boss would d dance and sweep with thousand waves while demon would trap you without thousand waves if you were a bad matchup and then proceed to use coil to set up all while the other pokemon sits helpless
HEARTBEAT HEARTBREAK !!!
Love the video, I always try to keep signature moves on my legendaries I keep for collection, but a lot of them do suck.
Love get Jojo’s and persona references in a Pokémon video! The trifecta of my life :D
Really enjoyed the topic of this video
I'd like to make a correction:
People don't use Enamorus not because Springtide Storm bad, but because trying to get an Enamorus with 0 IVs in Attack and Speed is basically impossible, because you need to BEAT LEGENDS ARCEUS FOR ONE ATTEMPT AT GETTING ONE WITH THE RIGHT IVS
like, if it's not the right IVs, you literally need to rebeat the entire game in order to get another shot, because you can only see the IVs when you transfer it out of the game, and that requires you to save the game
10:48 it’s basically a dark pulse with added 10 points to it’s bp and pp
nothing like the nostalgia of spamming through DP cynthia with a lv 100 roar of time
They really went overboard nerfing the doggos, they were already getting nerfed by dynamax being gone, so maybe just nerf the stats 🤷♂️
they really didn't go overboard, both can still hold up to other restricted legendaries, with Zamazenta being stronger than ever.
Melmetal has 34 base speed, it’s never flinching…
@@noahraymon9486trick room exists ya know
