In the manga, they say that Izumi lost the ability to have children because her sin was trying to bring her child back to life. It's totally heartbreaking. And when Izumi and Edward clap their hands together, in effect they are creating the circle with their own bodies.
The reason why Trisha, Ed and Al's mom died was revealed in the second episode: it was epidemic caused bye the repercussions of the civil war in the East/ Ishval. Edward mentioned it in exposition in a 3 second long sentence. So that's the reason you probably missed it.
I think Suraj would like the original Fullmetal Alchemist better, it's much more character focused, and he could theorize about things a lot more easily, because a lot of the plot twists and Brotherhood aren't really foreshadowed that much, they just kind of happen
Also, I really want to see the normies go camping, please get some footage of this. Also, the real issue when it comes to surviving outside is getting clean water, and keeping yourself warm, even if it's warm during the day, it might be cold at night
Muad'dib2288 Brotherhood rushes through the first episodes because they assume you already watched the first anime. Most people in japan probably did since japanese people watch a lot of anime
In the manga, they had an assistant working the shop with Izumi and her husband. That guy actually disguised himself as a man-wolf creature and pretty much antagonized the brothers on the island during their month in isolation but was instructed to make sure they didn't die. It pretty much highlights that Izumi didn't want them dying. But they took him out in the anime.
hellowhat890 I think this shows her having more faith in them. When you listen to her talk, she sounds certain they will be fine. The survival was never meant to be the actual test. It was meant to teach them the real lesson.
@@morbidpistachio6505 I don't think it makes her out to be uncaring, if anything I think it only shows her to be potentially overconfident in their skills. But as she said, the island had plenty of food. And there were no dangerous predators on it. So the risk of them dying in any way the assistant could prevent seems minimal.
Yeh well not so much, because you don't vomit blood when you lose your uterus. I mean, a lot of women don't have their uterus (because of cancer for example) and they don't vomit blood every two hours...
+Nora Girl I think it is obvious as FlyBoi said. It isn't just vomiting blood. Izumi specifically said that she lost "an organ" which she lost the ability to ever conceive a child again. The most natural organ comes to mind is the uterus
I like the fact that Ed and Al never cry, until they go see teacher. We all have that one person where we can keep it all together, but as soon as we hug that person, we feel it all, and everything crumbles - That's who teacher is to the Elric brothers. She is the person that makes them feel safe enough to let themselves be vulnerable
It's poetic, how even though Izumi committed the taboo and lost her reproductive organs, she was able to meet Ed and Al who became her new children. Hiromu Arakawa, you mad genius, you.
An early FMA today. Navi remembers the expanded version with the guy in a mask harassing them (the other kid is an 03 only character). You have 2 more episodes till you gotta find a new shuffle. Introducing Izumi Curtis, one of the most kickass women in anime. Hohenheim is their dad, in the manga Ed’s resent is sourced more from the fact that Ed felt that she succumbed to illness because he left, they also tried to send a letter to him to tell him about the funeral - where he didn’t show. They needed to learn from Izumi to do Human Transmutation, they say so in the ep where Izumi is seen but it’s easy to miss. And that’s the tragic origin, she just wanted her child back and paid the price. As to your question of The Truth, the Truth is an entity of God, it is all and it is one, which also means that they are you. Izumi’s husband is called Sig. There is an origin OVA but I suggest waiting out on OVAs for a while, for the Teacher one till after Ep.35 To be fair, explaining the circle of life to a starving orphaned 10 year old without Mufasa isn’t an easy thing to segue into. You don’t know, but you will. It’s not like the 03 series. Trisha died of illness, ep.2’s narration said ‘an epidemic came and took her’. Bear in mind that next ep’s kind of a 2-parter and the end of the first ‘season’
The whole Ed's explanation of "one is all, all is one" reminded me of Neil deGrasse's comment of "the most astounding fact". He explains how stars, now long gone, collapsed, exploded and spread their elemental structure across galaxy, creating new solar systems, with their planets, even ours. Whole comment is kinda long, but part in end is what could be seen as "one is all, all is one": "...so that when I look up at the night sky and I know that yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us."
I’m so excited for you all to explore this series! It’s one of my favorite series of all time and I never get tired of people being introduced to the series.
@1:20 that edit when Marketa coughs had me laughing out so much louder than it should've!! You guys always make the most appropriate and hilarious edits, love it xD
In case anyone’s interested, the 2003 version of this episode follows the manga much closer. I’m not saying this to criticize brotherhood, just as a fun fact
No, the manga was first. But it was a monthly publication and 03 quickly overtook the source material, so they wrote their own ending. When the manga finished, Brotherhood was created.
AceKimiChan Actually, the manga was still ongoing when Brotherhood first aired. Then the manga ended about 2 weeks before they animated the last 2 episodes.
I've always wondered, whether or not Izumi kinda knew the boys wanted to do a human transmutation. That's the importance of the "woke message" she "searched" from them at the very beginning of their training: like, if they understand that, then they understand that life is THAT precious that you can't "create" it with Alchemy. At the end, by discovering that it didn't work and her secrets/her way pushed them to make the same mistake as she did, is what saddens her the most. Ugh I love Izumi so much, she's my fav character, tight with a blond lady you haven't met yet (even tho I think the drama-effect of Izumi - her sad past, the emotional impact she has on the brothers and all - makes me love her more).
Also one other thing to take note of on FMA vs. Brotherhood and FMA Azumi actually does indirectly tell them about the taboo and you know bring something back to life it is dead and saying specifically it will disrupt the great flow of life every living thing as a part of that flow and we mustn't disrupt that so she actually does kind of tell him you know not to do it even though she didn't know that that's what they were trying to do they did indirectly hear that from their teacher disrupting the great flow and cycle of life is something that must never be done under any circumstances so it's not as if they didn't know Edward was just very arrogant in the original FMA so he talked to his brother into doing the taboo anyway that was the whole reason for them learning Alchemy in the first place so they already had made up in their mind
Are you going to watch the OVAs as well? There are 4 of them. Three of them relate to characters & events in the main show, but the 4th is a stand-alone story. One details about Izumi's training & how she met her husband Sig.
Their backstory is essentially the same as Usopp's(the least sad of the Strawhat's backstories),dad walks out on them and then mom dies of an unnamed illness.
⚠ NOT SPOILERS, READ TO AVOID MISSING IMPORTANT DETAILS IN FUTURE EPISODES ⚠ Episodes 6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, and 49 have scenes after the credits; they are sometimes just fun little vignettes, but often they include significant details that will be relevant later on, and that might make some future events confusing if you haven't watched them; it's therefore highly recommended to watch them. If you don't have this list at hand, just look at how much time is left in the video when you get to the credits; if it's more than usual, there's almost certainly a post-credits scene. Furthermore, the credits in episodes 45, 54, 63, and 64 are different than usual, and worth watching (especially the ones in 64, which everyone will probably be expecting a reaction to).
Navi! I don't think that's Doraemon. That style is popular among early Japanese anime. The animes I've seen in that art style are typically comedies or for the younger kids demographic.
The mom died of illness. Illness struck the area and she was one of the victims. They said that I believe when the kids were at the grave right after her death.
Ever Beltrán oh I thought patreon would have a section on their site to watch things or something. So I am guessing they just get the video link and the video are just set to private
*+killler240* Nah, Patreon doesn’t have its own video player, so yeah they just give us the link to the RUclips video and set it to private, we can still leave comments on the original Patreon post where they shared the link, though.
Film theory has done 2 videos on FMAB. One on why human transmutation isnt possible and one on the cost of a human soul... I recommend watching them but the second video will have spoilers for later in the series
Good one, u have to see OVAs specials later, one of them is how Izumi survive in winter Brigs wildereness, this is best one of OVAs with great pun in the end! P.S. It will be awesome to see your reaction on the oldschool famous animes, like "Cowboy Bebop" and "Trigun" (Trigun is super it have the same combo of mixed comedy and tragedy like FMA, and its like Firefly and Madmax is combined together), and great short parody is "Those Who Hunt Elves"
12:30 Long time ago this whole island was probably at the bottom of the sea in peace and harmony then everything changed when the Elric Brothers attacked
Not even a third of the series, bro. Hop on the feel train and buckle up 'cause it's gonna be one hell of a ride. They should titled Feelmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Actually, in the original anime adaptation, Suraj's theory was right, and Sloth ended up being their mother. However, its not true in this version. Still, pretty damn good deduction on Suraj's part.

10:02 what is Chris on about. I thought it was odd so looked it up and Rabbits are actually one of the highest source of protein per weight of any meat.
And see that's another reason why I feel you guys should go back and watch the other one as well because it is a lot more gas and maybe some of the fight scenes aren't as good and maybe it's even a little bit off the manga but it's very very similar to the manga end in the hole but they get into certain things that they just don't get into in brotherhood like the whole aspect of Al having trouble about bringing their mother back and it kind of pushed him into it so it shows why Edward feel so guilty about what happened to Alphonse and it also specifically plays into the one is all all is one episode I can personally watch Fullmetal Alchemist or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and they're both different from each other and respect but they're both great pieces of work that are based out of the same manga and that's really hard to do when they come back and let you know remake something so how would this is one of the shows that I would really just advise you guys to you know kind of revisit maybe after y'all finished Brotherhood and go through Fullmetal Alchemist and and watch that one is well because they're just both so great and relevant to life
If y'all think this version is deep and heavy you guys should really watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist the not the Brotherhood but the regular Fullmetal Alchemist episode of one is all all is one it's way way better in my opinion because when Azumi figured out that they committed the taboo she did more than what she did their she actually kicked their ass then hooked like I have to punish you because you did something that I told you not to but I understand why you did what you did then she hugged them I thought that was way more touching then just I'm going to give you a hug and understand because she didn't just let it go as oh yeah the kids y'all messed up they actually showed her physically discipline them and then after it was all said and done got really just just watching just watching it is amazing and from a from a Sensei student perspective it was absolutely necessary
This is very late but, rabbit have too much protein, the problem with eating to much rabbits is they have no fat, and contrary to belief of the stupid, you do need fat in your diet, otherwise it would not be on the food pyramid at all, alcohol is my there, and you can consume it because the human body doesn't need alcohol. Also, I know the pyramid isn't that good an example any more, but it helped as a reference
Truth is God. And I wouldn't say it's impossible to bring someone back, but no one has ever truly understood what they needed to give to do such a thing. For their presumption, God uses ironic punishments to teach the foolish alchemists who try to get something so important in exchange for far too little.

in the dub, they had to censor it. in the japanese version, she specifically lost her uterus

Actually, singing a new language helps you learn it... I've sang Latin, German, French, Hebrew etc.
Varsity choir kid lol
This is very late but, rabbit have too much protein, the problem with eating to much rabbits is they have no fat, and contrary to belief of the stupid, you do need fat in your diet, otherwise it would not be on the food pyramid at all, alcohol is my there, and you can consume it because the human body doesn't need alcohol. Also, I know the pyramid isn't that good an example any more, but it helped as a reference
the camera fed up a bit but no worries still, good reactions
"wtf is that" the answer is one only real fans will know

*Whenever I watch any of your show, I always wonder this: How many of you do actually know and speak hindi* ?
These kids reached enlightenment when they were like 10 lol
They cut the guy out who comes in and beats them up.
Truth is God. And I wouldn't say it's impossible to bring someone back, but no one has ever truly understood what they needed to give to do such a thing. For their presumption, God uses ironic punishments to teach the foolish alchemists who try to get something so important in exchange for far too little.

"…one great all" except the only thing is humans are the only things capable of knowing about that and making decisions that affect the "all". Humans are not the insignificant part… they are the only important part.
