Great clip, I'd not seen it before and I have admired him for many years as a fellow Brit. It's not just that he is at least honest about this country and its history, his whole character and line is to lambast other countries and cultures but always with the intention of assassinating British stupidity and those aspects of British cultures that are, in truth, pretty unpleasant. If you want to see Al Murray more as himself, there is a documentary episode in a short series he made, like a travel show where he visits countries that he has 'dealt with' in his persona as the pub landlord. His voice and accent change, and these are highly cultural and slightly academic little studies. In the one where he visits Germany, I admit, I was expecting trouble. Instead he is amusing rather than funny, the mockery is very gentle, more teasing. At one point he visits Leipzig which had a choir school for many hundreds of years. We have a lot of these in the UK but Germany even more so. So, he is chatting with the students, quite fluently, and is invited to the choristers' practice session. The next scene is him in a perfectly respectable light-baritone, sight-reading and singing the base line of a Bach cantata. He's nobody's fool.
Coming from a Brit, girls are great. Willing to embrace our very quirky humour and laugh along (even if you don’t always understand the jokes) FYI, we love some of your comedians too and I like to think that our humour is often something that can unite us as nations.

"Steve" is a musician, previously worked by Al. Al Murray is actually related to some very high-born people in British History.
Al Murray is actually a very intelligent man he started off with a programme with his character called the Pub Landlord which he is carrying on here live on stage. His reference to gravity being invented here was reference to Sir Isaac Newton and his falling apples!
He wrote and presented a really interesting documentary on Germany a while back. Fascinating guy.
He also fought the last election against Nigel Farage - they both ended up losing, but Al did his best to teach people about how democracy works.
You didn't get the joke of ' Its doesn't matter who 'Comes' first when you're on your own. Its been a year', and shakes his hand.
Al’s great great great grandfather was William Makepeace Thackeray who wrote the novel Vanity Fair
You and your sister reacting... Brilliant, love it! You bounce off each other.
He did a tour last year and a TV series called "Why Do the Brits Win Every War?" (including an American episode).
Loved this reaction, nice to see your sister, forgotten that fella’s name who used to sit next to you already 😂🤣😝👍🇬🇧
He puts the accent on, but he is southern
Very funny and very smart. I first saw him on 'Time Gentlemen Please'.
Al speaks to alot of the crowd before starting his shows, the guy he asked about the national anthem is a musician.
This is a played persona : the 'Pub Landlord' ..
The beer consumption : not to a level of being drunk ..
The accent : a Southern accent ( London ) ..
Yes not drunk at all its an act. We drink over here,
Hes very smart and doesn't sound like this in reality.
Coming from a Brit, girls are great. Willing to embrace our very quirky humour and laugh along (even if you don’t always understand the jokes)
FYI, we love some of your comedians too and I like to think that our humour is often something that can unite us as nations.
Remember that's Al Murray's Pub Landlord. It's a Character and he takes the piss out of everybody including us Scots 😆
Al is still touring. He was in my home town back in November. I would have gotten tickets, but it was my daughter's birthday, and we already had plans.
So he's still doing stand-up, but you won't find me near the front when I do go and see him, I'm not that brave!
Last year I saw him in concert in the North of England Newcastle brilliant stand up comedian
Al's been doing a lot of history docs recently. A book on Allied strategy in WW" came out last year. Currently doing Normandy walks on RUclips.
I think these girls prove Murry's point.
I like the vibe you two have
I know everyone is explaining that he’s playing a character called The Pub Landlord but now really explaining what that is… his character isn’t a landlord as in a building rental owner but the head barman, who owns a pub
Please react to “Women Know Your Limits” Harry Enfield - legendary & hilarious!
