I built my firewatch with stone foundations around it and a driveway to the nearby road. Some structures around the base, and a flag station. I love it. And yes, you inspired it with this build.
I love this camp idea but defense wise it leaves you next to no room. You might have to do the classic Fallout 4 settlement strategy of putting missile and laser turrets on scaffolds at the entry points if enemies come by.
You don't need defences really. Your camp only gets attacked when a player, usually yourself is at the camp. At that point you'll be a more effective defence than a turret anyway. Defences are just a waste of budget. Other than walls of course which just tie the whole thing together and look awesome. 😎
Tip. If you build the foundation 2 bricks higher than the tower floor your walls will fit snugly at the top. Allowing you to turn the bottom into a player house with no cracks. Getting foundations in clean around this prefab is oddly satisfying
Another excellent build. I had not thought about getting the tower, but after this I will be getting it. Thanks for creating all of these and showing us how.
I did the same exact thing as you concerning the Watchtower. I spent 4 hours messing around, building a new camp idea I had that had the Tower as the central focus, was almsot done, was putting little decorations here and there....and I accidentally scrapped the tower....four hours of work gone. When it disappeared from my game my heart sank, and I tried in vain to get it to snap back in the area I had it before, but it wouldn't. I had to tear the rest down, and start all over again, but it went quicker the second time since I knew what I wanted to make.
I noticed that. It makes sense as a camp object though, if it was to big the proportions would be off compared to other camp stuff. I'm not sure how well it would play with the build area either. It wouldn't be much good if you couldn't place anything on the top floor because it was outside the build area!
True. I was just hoping for one more level. I think the the blueprint of it goes well with other camp items, as you said. Just wish it was 1 level higher. I think 1 level would still be fine with building. I've seen some people build watchtowers from scratch that were much taller.
I know this video is from one year ago, but I recently got fo76 for my birthday, and I used this camp design for my camp. It has a cozy forest ranger-type of vibe to it, and I like that. Good job!!
I've seen some interesting build using this in adventure mode and it has been a while since I last had a play with this thing. 🤔 Maybe I should revisit it..
@@DarthXionGames yeah man I would I tried recreating it to somewhat success my main issue was the stairs going into the tower which you can't do normally
@kingcrusader5463 the tower itself is a prefab from the Atomic Shop, (it's actually quite a bit shorter than the existing ones), so stairs aren't too much of an issue. If you're building your own though your best bet would probably be to stack the stairs with the frames as that would take much less room.
I did something similar to the tower scrapping. Removed a lead extractor I worked into the build and then I had to scrap it all to get the extractor back in. Wish I watched this first. Would have made me more careful.
They had a set list of them to start with that they rotate on a monthly basis. I'm sure they could come up with more but that would mean a longer wait for the more popular options, (such as it is), and they're working on other things. Custom world's give you the option to set things up as you please too so there's that as well.
I wanted to ask - how do you drop items on a lower level while keeping them perfectly positioned? Is there some hidden keybind they don't list or am I just missing something really obvious?
There's a slightly hidden/not explained way to do it. I made a video on it that should explain it for you. ruclips.net/video/cNWG6-5gZQ8/видео.html Hope that helps!
"Make sure it doesn't end up floating." Should be the number one rule in camp building :"D Edit: Actually, maybe "BUILDORDER MATTERS!" should be on #1 and the floating advice on #2 :P
I'm not entirely sure what you are referring to here, but if you mean having stairs that are not attached to a foundation, then you can do it with short steps, (not the long ones that would take you upstairs though). Place a foundation where you want the stairs to be and snap them into place, then attach a a second foundation to the first. You should then be able to remove the initial foundation, leaving the stairs free. Hope that helps!
i wish Bethesda would stop stalling and just put building like that in the base game. sure keep the old protected areas but LET US BUILD WHAT WE WANT DAMN IT ALL
The only major thing about this that can't be done in adventure mode is building at a marked location. They're not going to change that though unfortunately as it opens things up to abuse, whether through griefing or through interfering with the mechanics of quests and events. (The old "Line in the Sand"/Survival Tent exploit springs to mind here). Apart from that there's a couple of wall decorations that are technically floating, but otherwise the rest can be done.
This is one of those perfect camps... Simple, cozy, scrappy and lore friendly, good job!
Thanks! ☺️

Thanks Darth. I just bought this tower and placed it my camp empty. I’m glad you actually made a camp of it and shared it.

I like it. The camp, the recording footage/quality, & voiceover
Good job man
Thanks! 😎

Wasn't going tonget it either. But i think I will now too. Just earn a couple more atoms on the scoreboard.
I do like the tower. I'm definitely going to use it in another build at some point. ☺️

I feel for you! It's heartbreaking when that happens!
The tower camps always have a special place in my heart. You managed to get a ton into a small space, without making it feel cluttered. Spot on!
Cheers Matt! I do like this one, it's very well suited to Appalachia.
Great use of the tower. It's a bit short for an actual watchtower, but incorporating it into a build seems to be the way to go.
I noticed that. It makes sense as a camp object though, if it was to big the proportions would be off compared to other camp stuff. I'm not sure how well it would play with the build area either. I love all your builds, get so many idea's from you.
Like the build, has me wanting to create one myself :D

Welcome to Appalachia! 😁 I hope you had a great birthday.
@@DarthXionGames Thank you! I got tickets to one of my favorite bands!
As someone who went to Download festival this weekend... That sounds like a good birthday to me!
Very neat and Cozy!
Great build. I am glad to see that I am not the only one to accidentally scrap a prebuilt and then need to redo the build!
😂 I wasn't happy! Fortunately it wasn't too bad to redo!
Terrific build on the watchtower
Thank you! ☺️
You have out done yourself good to sir no matter how small the build is you always seprize me on how much you fit in to it great job.
Thanks Tengu! I've been enjoying these smaller builds lately. ☺️
Yaaaaass papa xion with another build😂
Great job I really like the minimal builds best!
I've been enjoying smaller builds lately. I've got another one planned for a future build that I'm looking forward too as well. ☺️
Man it's been a while but I really love what you did with the tower I just wish I could do everything you did in survival

Nice. Wanna come build me a new camp..lol
very cool!! good jobs!

I've got a feeling that I did that once too. 😅 It would be nice if we had a "lock" feature to prevent accidental scrapping. One day maybe!
Absolutely love the build! Also, have they already run out of shared world ideas that they're cycling back through?
They had a set list of them to start with that they rotate on a monthly basis. I'm sure they could come up with more but that would mean a longer wait for the more popular options, (such as it is), and they're working on other things. You should make a video on how to get camp plans the most efficient way. I want to build cool things but I feel so limited:/
Hmm. I'd have to think about that one. 🤔 There's a few ways to speed things up, but it's not something that I've had to do quickly myself.
The fact that people still play this game shocks me. Cool camp.

@@DarthXionGames Thank you, that is very much appreciated. Is this explained anywhere in the game or just a thing you/community found?
I've not seen it explained in game as far as I remember. It's probably in the help menu though. You could do the same thing in FO4 too.
"Make sure it doesn't end up floating." Should be the number one rule in camp building :"D

I'm personally a fan of "build small and decorate heavily" too. Even something simple can look pretty awesome if you follow that one.
Do you wish the firewatch tower was just one story taller?
It would look slightly better proportioned, but I'd imagine you would have problems with it sticking out of the top of the build area.
My dude avoided showing the one thing we wanted… how you built the actual tower
It's a prefab. I literally just dropped it down whole.
How do you do the stairs in adventure mode?
I'm not entirely sure what you are referring to here, but if you mean having stairs that are not attached to a foundation, then you can do it with short steps, (not the long ones that would take you upstairs though). How expensive was it
