That’s one rad Rado! 😁 never really payed any attention to this brand before, but this particular model has peaked my interest. 43mm is huge though! I was expecting it to be a 39/40mm. And while I don’t particularly like date windows (they’re usually like an unwanted wart on a dial for me, a bit better if dial colored like here it seems) I think the implementation and positioning adds to the overall dial design in this particular case, and achieved here by offsetting the (smallish) movement...interesting 🤔
It's a beautiful piece, I really love it, haven't thought about Rado for a very long time. I always see them as those tacky all ceramic watches manufacturer, nice to see they have other interesting pieces other than the Captain Cook.
In addition to this Rado, I believe that Swatch Group has both a Mido and Tissot version of this watch with very similar off-center dial displays. Albeit, without this watch’s “alchemy”. They’re both real bargains, as such.
the first watch that I ever bought that was over $1,000 was in 1981 and it was a Rado and since then about a year ago for my birthday I bought a brand new die master and I love it. Big Fan..over 40 years
I have a rado voyager from the 70s and i love this it seems to move when youre not looking but shaking the watch dosent seem to make it budge its like a fun little surprise you wake up and your logo has shifted to another position. I swear its sorcery.
It goes way back to the 60's when it actually was a jewell and when it stopped rotating it meant it was time to service the watch as to wear and lubrication. Now it's just a cool little feature of a Rado. In the old days it spun more freely, now its ghost like seeming to change when your not looking.
My current daily wearer is a Rado DiaStar, I’ve had it for about a month, it’s super! I’ve worn it around a construction site daily, and have worn it whilst modifying my track car, not a scratch on the case or crystal. The bracelet is an NSA and is supremely comfortable.
I just recently bought the Diamaster ladies 33mm version! I must say that the watch runs very well and smooth. Not only that, it feels very comfortable to wear and looks absolutely stunning! I've already banged it up a bit but still no scratch. Unlike stainless that would have been defs scratched up and dinged up for sure. It can beat Daniel Wellington for sure! Great watch over all. Good job Rado! 👏👏
I've already got 2 rados, an original diver and the captain cook. Such a great brand. They are beautiful watches as good as any for their price. I love mine !!!
My Rado diamaster is a real delight. Simplicity itself with a beautifully finished white dial and gold Arabic numerals. The eta movement, an 2892 I believe, is well proven and can be found it a number of top brand watches. Excellent quality and value for money.
Always liked Rado, I bought their Captain Cook Bronze last spring. Very well made watch also in a bit of a quirky material, they even screw with the Bronze by using Aluminum in the mix instead of Tin. I like this watch I'll have to check the price point he didn't mention it. The CC is a very budget friendly line for what you get and they aren't boring either.
The large expanse of clean white dial would look so good at 37-39mm. The lug to lug appears to be quite short making it more wearable, but it's truly big.
I noticed that, as well. And if you watch the way he pulls his hands away from the table, it's obvious the film is moving in reverse. Perhaps they just needed a couple seconds of film, and, instead of reshooting, they just rewound the opening shot.
Nothing wrong with that. I’ve owned Luxury watches and I got as much appreciation from my £400 Seiko Samurai as I did my Rolex Milgauss. The luxury ones have since been sold and the Seiko Sumo and Samurai remain.
@@bluefire2308 well you’ve got plenty of time. I was still buying Casio and Swatch when I was that age. I didn’t really get interested in watches until I was about 31-32.
I had one of these in my hands and was almost ready to pull the trigger on it a little over a year ago. The size (43mm) and the fact that it wasn't quite so "everyday wear" that I was after made me hand it back and walk away. I might still pick one up - someday.
Hey Watchfinder would you be up for a very difficult challenge and come up with some recommendations for me please? I'm a cocktail bartender and I'm looking for a dressier, more elegant piece that I can wear to work on a regular basis. I work around liquids and water so leather straps are a no go. It has to be a dress watch that look good with metal straps. Must be automatic with handwinding, chronograph and date. Sapphire crystal a must. Hacking optional. Other complications optional. 100m water resistant or more. A classy but unique dial that catches the eye and easily a conversation starter. No bigger than 41mm case diameter. No more than $800 USD. I know I'm asking for a lot, but I did say this is gonna be a very difficult challenge :)
Best commentary on a video yet! They are all good, but this one was fantastic! "I Passive (yet aggressively) don't not enjoy this wonderful yet non-tempting piece of time keeping confusion. Were it lacking a date I would (with resounding affirmation) unquestionably question my vehement apprehension in the acquisition of this materialistic indulgence. Good day!"
I have a Rado Diastar Model # 658.0659.3 Ser # 10191289, Silver dial, ceramic case that my Dad bought, I think in 2004. I've had no luck in getting an accurate estimate about how much its worth. The corner of the ceramic case that holds the bracelet is cracked, so I would also like an estimate on how much it would cost to get fixed/replaced. Thank you.
Hi could you please review the seiko sdbd001 as it has a spring drive 5r66 ... is it seiko or grand seiko ? Mine is from sept. 2016.... is it the same quality ?
Wow I just saw this model somewhere on the FB this morning and wanted to see the review of it. And you coincidentally release this great video, thanks!
the metallic finish on the case actually is metal. The plasma treatment mentioned layers near atomic thickness deposition of metal ions which plates the ceramic, so yes there is metal in the case, just very very very little of it. A deeper explanation of Plasma Metal Sputtering here ruclips.net/video/Cyu7etM-0Ko/видео.html
Probably because it's inferior to the ETA 2892 which is in this watch. Swatch uses the 80 hour power reserve to conceal that the Powermatic 80 is a cheapened-out ETA 2824.
I really want to love Rado, but I just cant get there, not quite. Its sort of the Saab of watches. Im thinking, they should probably move upscale. Weird and expensive works, weird and cheap doesnt quite work, as a business plan.
The ceramic case of this watch reminds me of when Lexus, in the 90s and early 2000s, used to polish the wood trimmings in their cars to where they looked like plastic inlays. Now, if you think about it, that's very hard to do. But it's also very stupid.
To me, the Tudor Heritage Black Bay is boring. I will never understand the allure of Tudor. Rado is an oddball brand, but I respect that. Great content as usual, thank you sir!
What a great Rado! Really love this collection. I'm in love with the overall design and the stunning ceramic case. I was also very suprised about the sharp finishing even on these unforgiving macro shots! Unfortunately it's too big with its 43mm... :-( Nevertheless, thanks a lot for showing this beauty!
I hardly ever see or hear anything about Jean d'Eve. I have a much-loved Jean d'Eve Sectora owned since new in 1988. I'd love to see you do a video about a current Jean d'Eve Sectora please.
Love Rado. However have to say on this one the spoken description of it is more interesting than the watch itself. But as most comments just my personal opinion. Not quite sure I'd equate quirkiness to "soul & personality" as watchfinder do, but it's certainly different. Different is good... usually...
You must've missed the fact that the case is actually ceramic even though it looks like polished stainless steel, platinum or white gold ! I have *NEVER* seen ceramic turned into stainless steel/white gold look with just heat !
Steve Fox Ceramic doesn't scratch...if you ever had a steel watch, or even worse in precious metals, you'd know how easily they di scratch...even for someone like me who only goes to the office, drive back home and eat at restaurants. Yet scratches still appear. Side benefit is light weight...though I doubt anyone would buy it just for that.
My dressiest dress watch is a rose gold Rado Coupole Classic. Beautiful face is always noticed. Doesn't look good when wearing t-shirt n joggies so hasn't been out the case this year.

Finally some spotlight on Rado Diamaster models ! I'm tired of only seeing the Captain Cook getting all the love .

Nice to feature Rado.... they are good watch maker & this piece indeed look really good.

Plasma high-tech ceramic. That bit got me. Yet still, another brilliant review and it peaked my interest! Always enjoyed Rado watches.
"wearing a mortgage payment on your wrist"... that was really hilarious!
I like the date window and it's exceptional value for what it is. I can't see myself getting one of these but I'm glad it exists.
Thank you for making this video. Please make one regarding RADO DIASTAR. Its would be much appreciated.

Daniel Wellington are more fashion accessories than makers of quality timepieces. Very expensive for what you're not getting.
I have to say the finishing stands up to the macro photography
That off-centered display caseback is making me nervous

The rotating anchor is Rado's way of telling you that it's an automatic watch. Anchorless Rado watches are quartz.

Yes, it's a signature of their automatic movement watches. It's fixed on the quartz models.
