- It’s very unlikely that you’ve ever seen a Credor before. It’s also very unlikely that you’ve ever even heard of Credor before. Yet this simple, unknown watch from this unknown Japanese brand costs a whopping £50,000. What on Earth are they thinking?

Oh Watchfinder, you underestimate the number of Seiko enthusiasts in the watch community
Yes, an a Seiko quartz isn't a cheap watch. I have one that is five jewels, and l've had it over 25 years.
Seiko , class of its own
@@robertromeo3765 Even the cheapest Casio quartz watch is a reliable timepiece.

i expect you also heard of the name Lorus then?

you magnificent salesman
And for some reason I want to buy ice cream...... :)
He has a talent , is mesmerizing from start to finish
That was a strange statement to make
Exquisite to say the least...
How to summarize the whole video brilliantly 👍
I actually pulled out a spray and microcloth and cleaned my screen so I could appreciate the dial just a little more
Love this comment 😂
I think its the appeal of the watch, the mist is somewhat like the haze of the old movies....
You sir, appreciate the finer things in life!! I salut you!!
Bro I literally just did the same
Did the same... Not even joking...
Credor...because Seiko thought Grand Seiko was too small of a flex.
what does that even mean "of a flex" ? Makes zero sense.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 unfortunately people now mostly kids like to flex watches, other them to know the history and marvel over them it's pretty sad tbh
My dude just disrupted the boomer's mind
DATING HARLEY QUINN Someone gets it.
mac daddy Always smart to ask questions.
Everyone: wow Grand Seiko is the best Seiko flex out there
Seiko: you fool, it's not even my final form
@Re Up I had no idea... wow. Great intel!
LMAO
@Re Up this isn't correct.

Aristo Rahadian lmao
I went from "no way" in the beginning to "take my money " at the end. You're a brilliant salesman!
I went through the same process and ended up with "I don't have that sort of money" at the very end.
lewis.f haha lol (not many of us do)👍🍻
I thought you were joking, but by the end, I was doing the same
@@1ewi5 Yea, I'll have to be happy with my Swatch.
And I went from what's that crap to I still prefer a snowflake
I saw this magnificent piece in person at the Seiko flagship in my country: the Eichi II dial has an ethereal translucence! The hand painted dials are extraordinary
One word, “ BEAUTIFUL ”, finally a Credor on this channel.
Can't wait until a minute repeater Credor gets a video.
This is my favourite video in months. I started watching it cynically thinking what marketing bs has this watch got wrapped round it to try and charge such a price for a basic 3 hander e.g. hublot or rm. And finished watching with goosebumps and in complete awe of it.
"So, what do you do for a living?" "I paint tiny stripes and write a name on a watch dial all day. Every day I'm at work. That's all I do."
...and nine out of ten of them are then cracked in an oven by my honorable co-worker.
@@davidwarren9204 technically 1 out of 11 ; p
And then the obligatory advice, "You should get a real job."
I wonder how much the salary is.
My friend works as terminator, he kills ants professionally.
This is objectively the best background music in the Watchfinder repertoire.
Agreed!
I wonder if it can be streamed/downloaded somewhere
I don't know. I like the review of the Omega Speedmaster limited edition when he used "Disco Inferno".
😐
@@jamsky1558 I have tried to identify this music using an App on my phone called "Shazam", but unfortunately it could not ID the music.
Really need to find this music. It will most likely be from a stock music library somewhere..
"This is the cheapest Phillippe Dufour that you will ever find..." it just sends the shivers down my spine...
I was at a GS9 cocktail party, an event hosted by Grand Seiko for GS owners. They brought a handful of Credor watches for showcasing. I asked them how Credor fits in the lineup of Seiko brands, and the way they described it made Grand Seiko feel so inadequate, it’s insane. Basically, Grand Seiko is focused on functionality and mass production while Credor focuses on pure craftsmanship.
That dial looked so underwhelming in the thumbnail. But once it's under magnification, Holy Cow. Those markers are out of this world.
Hypnotizing.
But at 9:01 though...
@@02b6a4 meh...very very minor. overall, extraordinary.
There's a big difference between a machine with a stamp, and a highly trained craftsman with a brush.
@@ppmnox
Minor but very important imperfection, nobody does it perfec, nor seiko nor patek.
Japan always leave off the room with mesmerizing, inspiring & unspoken cool story.Their people were silent & let their work/art spoken for themselves.Legendary
Would love it if Western actors took a note from them. They act in shitty sitcoms and cheesy action movies but lecture everybody else on politics. Get a life. Get a real job.

@@Mister_Phafanapolis Not relevant in the slightest.
Ah yes just another weaboo fantacises Japan.
Even serial killer leaves a interesting stories.
Absolutely agree, this is Phillipe dufour level watchmaking at less than half of a PD watch. Stunning mirrored bevels, almost as good as the GS cal 9R02, a movement which the micro artist studio consulted with Dufour prior to manufacturing.
LOL not even close
This is better than a simplicity parts for which are not even made completely in house plus the spring dive alone puts it in a league above pd . People by dufour for his heritage and how important he is to the world of horology and of course rarity . But the credor is a superior horological piece
09:01 People are pointing out that the first "R" in the "CREDOR" in the movement that's engraved/embossed(?) at the back doesn't have the extended tail that's on the second R, or even that's on the first R in the dial.
I think it's because the dial is handpainted and the artisan can space the letters to fit. The back seems to be done by machine I assume, and in the computer the *kerning*, the space between the letters, is closer together and it omits the extended tail of the R, to maintain that constant distance between the letters.
Notice how there's more "air" between the lobe of the R and the spine/stem of the E on the dial, especially compared to the "EDOR" part, to fit the tail. - i find it only enhances the wabi-sabi quality of the watch.
Very enlightening. Didn’t know that Dufour was involved in helping set up the Micro Artists Studio.
Always liked the Credor Eichi I and II.
At the beginning of the video I was skeptical, at the end - blown away. Thanks for sharing this hidden gem!
The Clarkson-esque "in the world" makes me smile every time 🙂

@@artmallory970 lololol! Top Gear 😍😍😍
Loved the Top Gear with 'the best road in the world.' They made a big production out of searching, announced it was a remote two lane in Switzerland, spent hours in traffic trying to get to it, and couldn't drive it because there was too much traffic. I live in Northern California. I laughed.
@@IanMacLeansnv haha, I loved the whole series. Those three were just an absolute joy to watch IMO.
Good thing that he didn't say "reserve POWERRRR" 😂
An argument could be made that this is THE perfect dress watch. I would say it has few, if any, rivals for elegance and execution. If I were a £10k shoes, £25k suit man, this would be the only tool for the job. It’s understated beauty is heartbreaking.
I learned about Credor from this video 2 years ago. Now I'm a lucky owner of a vintage Credor that I absolutely love! Also I wish you guys used this background music more often. It's so soothing! 😂
Insane how Credor is only really known in Asia, I guess marketing really is everything.
It was JDM only for ages. Your comment makes no sense at all.
@@vulekv93 Fair, but that's what I mean. Most people only pay attention to heavily marketed watches and don't research interesting/quality brands on their own.
@@somistyy I believe the Japanese only want their top of the line watches to stay there! GS is just really opening up in the last few years so I don't think they care too much about marketing.
they didnt bring it to outside world, just JDM

TLDR: It’s a Grand Seiko on crack.
Nah, just an excercise for Seiko to flex what they're capable of.

After a one year wait I got one of these about 18 months ago and I wear it often. One of the nice things about such a simple watch in “white metal” is just how under the radar it is, but it never loses its thrill when I look at the dial, and I wind it movement side up to appreciate the finish as the power reserve indicator sweeps across. So nice to see it on this channel today - beautifully done as always, thank you.
Ordinary person and non-watch enthusiast will think "oh, it's just another minimal-styled casio analog watch". Because from the first glance it exactly looks like it hahaha
You can sell anything... can’t believe I want a Credor
Long standing request. Thank you for the video.
I ♡ this watch.
btw 1:49 - 2:01 ...... no words.
I've never wanted a zero complication watch more than this one. I'd wear it for a drive out in my Eunos Cosmo
Yes, they were the best, Japanese essence.
Love the Cosmo! What's the mileage on her now?
My Grail of Grails. So thrilled to see you guys bring this mesmerizing piece on!
I can understand why it'd be a grail, it's as it should be.
I am convinced this guy could sell me Lorus and I’d leave happy with my purchase.
I have never understood the Credor brand - you can find some incredibly cheap Credor quartz watches online, it name sounds like an ice-cream and I hate the logo.
I thought it would be impossible to ever convince me that a Credor watch could ever be worth £50,000 - but it’s now in the dream collection.
Seiko as a company is doing great things. It's funny to me how if any of the Seiko watches had a Swiss name to them and everyone would be jumping through hoops to get one. The movement in the grand seiko doesn't get any clout at all and it's better than a lot of swiss movements. This watch I have heard about before but didn't know anything about it. Thanks and great job educating me and everyone else.
The japanese have a long game mentality about a lot of things, as seen across their niche market exports. Seiko is planning world watch domination. ;)
Credor is amazing! Yes I agree its like they want to fail and don't care to make a sale for Credor. It truly is the king of luxury. And being less known makes it even more so of a true luxury piece.
1:49 shots like this is the reason I'm subscribed to this channel even though I can't afford any of the watch shown
Actually, two of my grail watches are Credor. But it's true, not a lot of people even know about their existence.
I live in Japan and until this video have never quite understood Credor watches. From the outside they look very simple and I couldn't grasp how expensive they were. I get it a bit more now.
Rolex is what hapoens when you focus on name recognition over watchmaking. Credor hapoens when you focus on watchmaking over name recognition.
Lol seiko fans drop the corniest lines
@@hersheysquirt6526 Corny or not, its the truth!
@@superfast30 how do you even compare the 2 brands? They target completely different buyers and price points. This one is so plain, most people would probably walk right by it. Basically another Calatrava or Timex look-a-like, depending on who you ask. Nice finishing under a loupe, but then I tend not to carry a loupe.
@@hersheysquirt6526 agreed. Rolex targets buyers who want what watch laypeople admire (as good as they are!), Credor targets buyers who want something special and want it done to perfection by a master craftsman.
@@hersheysquirt6526 its right, credor was made for the riches, who dont need recognition anymore
And (today) rolex... are made for social climbers, who need recognition and attention
Credor isn't unknown. IT is just unappreciated outside JP.
The mainspring barrel alone is a work of art.
Oooo, I love this watch! The smoothe sweep of the second hand pulls you in. The elegant face design devoid of flourishes and none of that see through to the gears thing. It's just beautiful. Alas, I'm of normal means and have no chance.
As a Seiko enthusiast who has indeed heard of the Credor brand, I found all this very interesting, but I was puzzled why the writing on the movement plate appeared to be ink and not hand engraved. Now I'm wondering if that writing is hand painted with a brush too, just like the CREDO brand name on the astonishing dial?
It is not ink use a larger monitor with better resolution. They used laser etching.
You could read restaurant menus and I will still listen your soothing voice man
Even under macro I couldn't spot a single flaw in the finish. That's Japan for you.
8:26 the credor logo has a tiny flaw.
I spotted a flaw too... In the hour markers
Well the hour marker was painted by hand. That tiny flaws is what give watches the organic feeling. If it was too perfect, surely someone elese will shout "I don't like it because it's too perfect like a machine made product".
You're not looking hard enough.
@@runrin_ In this watch they are actually a selling point. If you're buying an expensive watch with a pad-printed dial you expect everything to be completely flawless. When you're buying an expensive watch with a dial literally hand-painted by a dude with a tiny paintbrush, the tiny imperfections are the proof that it was, in fact, hand-executed. If you bought an expensive painting you wouldn't expect it to look like a laser print, you'd expect to see some brush strokes and stuff.
I know very little about watches...but I know this looks beautiful!
With a few Grand Seikos in my collection, this is truly an object of desire, to admire and be proud to have in my collection.
Oh. My. The Credor Eichi II. I had to sit down to watch this or my knees would have buckled while watching this beauty. The enamel dial and the paintwork on it is stunning.
My most wanted RUclips video finally came to be !
I bought the Seiko SUP857...the very, very poor man's Eichi II.
This video got an instant “Like” when I heard Mr. Dufour’s name.
Theres a Credor on the Japanese website "Hard-Off" for just a little more than a Grand Seiko..used around $2500 rightnow
The mirror polish on the enamel dial is fucking insane. The movement also looks gorgeous.
If there was one like it but with some complication, I would save money for years just to get it.
There are several Credor watches with complications. Few of them possess the understated class of the Eichi.
@@robertjohnson9971 They're not as well done as this one though.
"this is the cheapest Philippe Dufour you will ever find" Seiko just had to add some element of world leading value for money even on their top watch.

I have a Credor I bought at the Seiko boutique in Ginza. The Credor is only sold there. By the way I saw a minute repeater Credor the cost USD$425,000! go figure
Damn dude
Rich guy!
@@xxxocampo7215 There are Credors you can buy for less than half the price of the snowflake.
At first I thought the watch was not crafted very well as I could see somewhat jagged edges on the hands and dial super close-ups, until I realised it was hand painted . Now that's a steady hand !
A mesmirizing feat with a great punchline at the end
3:27 the clarity and texture and detail in the Credor logo...

I suspect the camera doesn’t make justice to how spectacular this dial is. Must be better in person.
I'm hoping they will upgrade to 4K 60fps this year

That was a stunningly entertaining watch, thank you so very much! More of this type please?
Bevel much? The quality of finish on those plates is on another level. The final point (cheapest Dufour you can find) is so on point - something I have thought and said for years now. Fantastic video.
I’m reporting this for pornography...
Funny fucker..no really that's some one with both a discerning eye for watch making and sense of humor...

Check out the prices on the Credor Sonnerie, Minute Repeater & Fugaku. Will blow your mind away, and the quality and craftsmanship! 😊
Gaaaaaaaah, the Fugaku is mind bendingly beautiful!
Beautiful photography and content. Brilliant mate!
I think probably 80-90% of your audience has heard of Credor.
Not me. I'm not very serious about watches, I just like the mechanical porn.
I'm sure that's not a cheap acrylic crystal, but the lighting really didn't do it justice.
I didn't realize Dufour was involved with Credor. Brilliant move on their part. I'm wondering if the Presages will eventually "lose" the Seiko branding as well.
If they lose the Seiko brand, they must lose the 6R movement as well and upgrade it to something better.
This watch is so beautiful AND fascinating that I have to come back to watch this video at least once a week. Wish I could afford one.
Grand Seiko SBG001: *I EXIST*
Stunning craftsmanship and simple/stark/elegant beauty. I don’t think anyone could present this watch any better than you’ve done in this video. Hat’s off to you.
Oh great! Thanks a lot. Here I was happy wearing a grand Seiko, when you go and post something like this. Literally one minute into this video, I was searching the web for a credor.
Anyway, as always, lovely video...

If possible, please feature HMT mechanical watches from India too.
They were gems of time keeping in India and lasted a lifetime with little or no maintenance.
Loved the narration. I was glued till the end. You deserve an award for generating interest in horology.
Im not here for the brilliant of seiko watch making but Im here for the comments
When Craig Shipp and Watchfinder are on the same wavelength, you realise Grand Seiko is the best watch in the World.
I must take exception to your description of Seiko as a maker of cheap quartz watches...they create AFFORDABLE automatic movement watches that are a pleasure to own and provide decades of reliable service.
Cheap
Looks awesome, so simple but what a great second hand movement. I'm old enough to remember how awesome Japanese electronics were
I really thought you were going to say “Think of the ice-cream manufacturer… Carte D'Or”
It's because of you that I started wanting to collect watches. I started with a quartz fashion watch called Michael Kors. Yeah, I know. What a shame to the horology world then I bought a TechnoMarine Grand Cruise which has a self winding rotor with 24 jewels and power reserve of 48 hours. I'll be saving for a Seiko Prospex soon.
One of the very few seiko watches with good movement finishing. Also some of the best movement finishing of any watch.
Most accurate mechanical watch available
it''s hybrid watch . but it's the most accurate indeed. it's the cutting edge on movements' technology
The more I learn about Seiko the more impressed I am.
I've had the pleasure to see one of those peaces of art being serviced and the work is mind numbing just the porcelain canvas will transfix you with its amazing colour.
So clean... Lost for words..
It didn't draw my attention until I saw the case back. Wow! It's a beast 😍
Finally a Credor video. Requested couple of years ago❤️. Hope to see Fugaku and minute repeater next.
So I'm guessing that this watch will be more reliable, and far more accurate than anything Switzerland has to offer? Sadly though it'll be less desirable, despite the craftsmanship involved.
The hue of the blued screws and their finishing is the nicest I have ever seen I think.
amazing technology~~ essentially a watch made in a work shop and with procedures set by the greatest watch maker of our time. a watch that uses quartz to regulate it but uses no batteries and generates power from the winding of it then holds the excess like an traditional watch using a mainspring? ok.... dumbfounded is what i am....
Holy sh**! First I was thinking where’s the price justification with that dial. I assumed it was printed, wow what a shock to find out the markers and logo are hand painted!!!!
Everyone: *flexes crazy movements

Any review for Chanel J12 2019 edition?
Obviously the only reason this unknown Japanese watch costs 50 000£ that Seiko wants to earn this amount of money.
It's also platinum
You kidding?? 20 gramms of platinum coats something like 600$. Almost nothing.
I've been waiting for this video for a very long time. Watchfinder, you do not disappoint!
At the very beginning of the video, I was like, "Wait what? A Credor for 50k pounds? I would rather go for a Corum instead!"
At the very end of this video, "Holy Cow! A Phillippe Dufour for only 50k? I'm sold! This is my holy grail of watches!"
