  • When a couple is applied at a canine with excessive root mesial inclination by using straight wires, the crown will move mesially and pull the entire dentition forward. This side-effect is called "rowboat effect" and it can be avoided by the application of a segmented tool, such as the rectangular loop previously to the use of continuous archwires.

      In Brazil we found these typodonts in normal dental stores Dr. But I'm not sure where to get it in your country.

    Alternatively, dont bond the canine, create space, and allow further eruption before bonding.

    Seems like the molar has still moved mesially as theres a gap between 6 and 7. Or its just the wax effect?

      It's probably wax effect, because the forces I use for typodont demonstrations are usually higher than those I use in clinical practice.
