  • Review this whiteboard animation with the voice of an English native speaker. Academic analogies are very useful as teaching and learning tools. Students can analyze a familiar information, and then transfer that analysis to an important concept. In this whiteboard animation, we present the most common analogies used to explain relevant orthodontic concepts. Share this video and make it easier for your students to learn!

Briefly, the Bauschinger effect refers to the change in the mechanical behavior of a material after it has undergone plastic deformation in one direction and then is subsequently loaded in the opposite direction. For example, by making the shape of a loop that will deliver forces, its interesting to overbend the wire a little bit, and then return to the planned shape. This could deliver a more consistent and controlled force to the teeth depending on the wire used.
