Mesial tip of roots is increased when 5 degree labial crown torque is added , so when the labial crown torque is added 5 one degree adds to root tip , or one degeee of crown mesial tip is lost as it adds to distal tip , that means the same that mesial tip is added to root , if we say one degree of distal tip is added to the crown.

Thanks dr. The last principle do you mean if we add 4 degrees of labial crown torque of the incisors the result will be 1 degree root of canine tipping mesially and crown distally!!

Dear Ezzo, No, a labial ROOT torque will tip the root apex to the distal, and the crown to the mesial! Some confusion often arises because we need to check if the term TIP is refering to the crown or to the tooth (or root). I suggest you imagine the tooth as an entire object (one wagon's radius): whenever you pull the roots back (palatal root torque), the teeth (radius) converge to the center of the wagon. The contrary reasoning is also true. I hope I've helped you.

Essential Biomechanics 👍 exactly, that’s what i meant but i made a mistake in writing the question. Thanks a lot. In other words we can imagine it as when we apply gable bends to t loop in retraction arch.

Complex question Dr, so I'd not make such a strong statement. This effect exists and occurs frequently. However, you must consider the main variables related to it: degree of root inclination, severity of crowding, occlusal forces and interferences, muscle forces from lips and tongue, ..... I think the advice here is to keep aware of this possible side effect, especially in severely tipped canines - remember: whenever possible, DO NOT connect the good with the bad!

then we should change the classification term of class 2 to ronaldinho 10 in technical literature. i was just an orthodontics patient and now im joking on the terms, what a ride. this should not have happened and i would not have learnt these stuff but its so tempting on the other hand.
