Hi! Do you have a recommendation for a string specific VST? I’m thinking about Hans Zimmer’s Striiings or Spitfire’s String library. I’m open to any others though! Thank you!!
Indeed, but the uniformity/repetition of any attack usually gives the game away. I find that a combination of marcato layered with an articulation with faster attack works well, the latter track being randomised for level and timing. Also, why does no one ever talk about enhancing the reality of sampled strings and brass by pitchbending? No group of musicians, no matter how professional, will play perfectly in tune. Sometimes just adding a couple of solo instrument tracks to a section and bending them out of tune can add surprising reality!
I can make one for you, there is a patch in the old Cinematic Strings 2 library, called "runs", its basically a staccato patch with a semi tone trill, you can control the blur and the note accents with the modwheel and velocity, so you can accent notes better and get the runs pretty realistic. Manually this would a hard to do! @@whittymusic
@@whittymusic *it sounds spectacular! I was hooked when I saw your vid on: common tone movement and superimposed triads in regards to film scoring!* *this is a highly valuable trick that I will try out with slower string patches on my Korg!* *thank you man!* 👍🏾
I would just get in the grid on your midi editor and ad scales at 32nd notes. The most important thing is to play a chord tone on beat one and 3 if possible. Then draw in your note velocities and volume for realism
@@whittymusic Thank You for This tip. If i may it would be really helpful if You could make some videos in future how to program stuff like this.Like runs both woodwinds and strings in DAW. How to program this to make it sound more natural. Maybe mention 2 or 3 words about harp glissandos. Yeah im really often struggle a lot with this would be very gratefull if You could mke some material about that. ANyway Thank You very much for this video and im looking forward for next!
Hi there, your tutorial is really interesting, i'm trying with several string marcato patch but the most are really bad...could you please tell me what Spitfire's library are you using in this video? Thanks
You are the best! I wish I was good enough to take your course. I'm sure I could learn sooo much from you. Thanks for sharing this tip!😊
you're a beast bro!! and awesome that you give back man... Really awesome channel
The staccato patches for Berlin strings works super when you have the blurred staccato melded into the runs.
would love to hear an example of this technique, if you know of any? Cheers!
Your videos rule! Thanks for all that you do.
I'm blown away by this. Thank you so much for your amazing content!!
Me coming here for the name of the library.... "that's a costume sample u cant buy it" fuck
Bro! Always great stuff….happy to see a new vid from you.
I know dang it's been 9 months lol
Thanks!
Amazing tip!
That custom sample patch is the business. I would like to buy it.
Wow, this is amazing. Thank you!
Thanks 🙏

The Spitfire library is great, also cinematic studio strings, and performance samples are great. There are so many choices

A better technique is to choose a staccato patch plus an semitone thrill patch to emulate the blurr between the notes. sounds way better trust me!
I'd love to see a video of this approach, always love learning new ideas!

Great video however I can’t play runs that fast at all. What would you suggest?

Your studio looks like hans zimmers lol
