    I did what you said to change light bulbs as the drivers side was burned out. So I changed the headlight bulbs on both sides, passenger and drivers side. I did NOT change the bulb, wore gloves. .... So simple. I got to practice taking the bulb out and putting it back in a few times with turning on the lights to check to see if they work. Thank you for your clear directions and excellent views of what I would see. I asked the auto place to see what they would charge me, $60 and it would take them an hour. .... I said no thank you and did it myself. Time; 30 minutes or so because the one on the drivers side was a little more challenging but worth it. Awesome instructions. Thank you!!!!!!! :)

      Amen to that! I changed mine myself - with also let me buy an upgraded version instead of paying too much for a basic bulb.

    Thanks. I was pushing on the clip as you show, but nothing was happening. Your video confirmed that I was doing the right thing, I just needed to do it "more." And, what in the world is with the videos that show people practically taking the entire car apart? This is the best one I've seen.

    Thanks Richard! I just changed the head light bulb all by myself after watching your video. My husband didn't think I could do it because he said he struggled quite a bit with it the first time he changed it and when I was done in less than 10 minutes he couldn't believe it. The video made all the difference in the world, he should have watched your video the first time around. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much!! The manual is so confusing. You made replacing the bulb so easy. The manual didn't say anything about the clip holding the bulb in place and I had no idea what to do with it. Thanks to your easy to understand video, I replaced my bulb in seconds!!!

    Great video and great advice on how to handle the bulb and clean one. It's also nice to watch a video where the camera isn't shaking all over the place. I rarely drive at night anymore and didn't even know I had a burned out bulb until I took my 2013 Sonata to a dealership today for a factory safety recall. They wanted $95 to replace it. I have never replaced a headlamp on this car before and was worried that it might be difficult. However, your video provides excellent step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Also, good advice about replacing the bulbs on a regular basis. I did notice the last time I drove at night that the headlights seemed a lot dimmer than they should be. So, I'll be replacing them on a regular basis from now on instead of waiting until they burn out. Thanks so much.

    Thank you so much for this video. My wife has a 2012 Sonata and I changed the driver's side light bulb once but didn't do it too well because of the clip they use. Someone from an auto parts store fixed it in a minute. Now that the passenger side light needed replacing I searched for a video and yours is by far the best. It definitely helps to see the clip, know if it's vertical or horizontal and how it works. The first time it took me forever to do it and still be wrong and this time it took less than a minute. I had to write and tell you - nice job and thank you.

    Thanks ... took me under 4 minutes to change on the driver's side outter low beam light. I couldn't see in that part of the compartment well with the battery obstructing the view inside ... but because of your video I had a great idea of how everything was situated and did it by feel. No Problem!

    This video is the best of them all. Pay close attention at 5:58 (passenger side), 9:43 (driver side), and 11:37 (passenger side) where he shows you how to move the clip out of the way. Every other DIY video on this subject glosses over this like it's nothing, but it's really the key to doing this easily, without seeing what you are doing.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you and you are right, if you do not get that clip in correctly you will not be able to get the bulb installed correctly it is KEY. All the best.

    My wife is working all day and taking night classes all week so I only had access to her car during daylight yesterday afternoon. Auto place was closed, sp ordered bulbs from Amazon. But my wife was still nervous about not having a light until Wednesday due to all her night driving. So popped open her hood and switched the burnt out bulb for the highbeam bulb and was her hero. Thanks for the video, I didn't know it was the same bulb, now she thinks I am so smart. 😀

Went to car found all the compartments. It saddens me and hurt me when people make me question my loyalty. I brought the bulb just needed it replaced. I'm sure that as in my city there are mechanics outside auto part stores that will do these things much cheaper than the shops

    Thank you so much for this video. You were very clear and thorough in your explanation. My teenager and I fixed the headlight in her car. It took us a little bit but there is nothing like the sense of accomplishment, saving some money AND this year I authored a book promoting raising independent young adults (Please Don't Come Home (Except for a Visit))...knowing basic car maintenance definitely falls into this category. Normally, hubby does these type of things but he is traveling and I didn't want her to be unsafe.

    Just thought I would point out that a car as old as 2002 uses the same bulbs and wire attachment. So your instructions are most likely good from 2002 (maybe even a bit older?) up to current Sonata models. I appreciate the bulbs you pointed out. For some reason I did NOT see that bulb when searching. I had to order a bulb tonight for a burned out bulb. I got 2 bulbs for $23 which was still cheaper than the local repair shop. But I'll buy a couple of your referenced bulbs for spares and throw them into the spare tire well for future needs.

    Thank you for the close up of the metal clip that holds the bulb in place. Seeing how it works is very helpful. That has been my biggest headache. I successfully changed light bulbs in the past, but when it came to the clip it was just luck that got me through...and cursing. Now I'd like to know why my 2003 Hyundai Sonata headlight bulbs burn out so often. Any ideas?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  10 лет назад +1

      You are welcome. Here are a few tips I can think of. Make sure you are not touching the bulbs with your bare fingers. The oils/salt on your skin will create a hot spot on the glass which will make it prone to burning out. These are incandescent filament lights which are prone to burning out if they are jarred while they are on. Make sure they are seated properly and not moving in the headlight assembly at all. If moisture is getting into your headlight assembly this can cause them to burn out more quickly. Lastly make sure you are buying quality bulbs. The bulbs I purchased from Amazon: amzn.to/1fib0yC are still working fine for me today. Thanks for watching.

      Thanks for asking this question. I went with this bulb because it was highly rated and now also an "Amazon choice" product as well. I respect the reviews on Amazon and it was value priced as well. I checked the link in the video description again and found another seller selling the same bulb for less than half the price. I updated the link for you so make sure you use it to get the best value. The bulb has performed very well and I have bought them for my Santa Fe (9003 bulb but still Hella) with good result and value. Why pay more? All the best.

    Thank you much Richard...your viedo was very clear and instructive...a complete success...the drivers side is a more difficult space and the key for me was ensuring the notch of the bulb base was in place on the housing, the clip comes over easy then...which could have been a much more challenging step if not for your viedo...much thanks...I will subscribe...

    If you have a VERY steady hand (and fingers), you don't really need any gloves. If wearing a glove is cumbersome, you can wrap a piece of Scotch tape around your thumb and forefinger. Works just as well.

    Is there a reason that neither you nor anybody else on there any video on RUclips shows the removal and replacement of the light bulbs on the driver side only the driver side which nobody shows it all anywhere in their videos the driver side replacing the bulbs in a 2004 Hyundai Sonata

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  3 года назад +1

      I state in the video briefly why. The procedure is the same on both sides the only problem is the battery blocks the line of site for the camera to the bulb and when you put your hand in, the angle you need to get around the battery to unlock the bulb it's impossible to show the removal (without removing the battery, which is NOT required to change the bulbs). This is a 2011 Sonata which is NOT at all the same as 2004 but the lock mechanism is the same on either car on either side. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
