    Thanks guys!! I had a roast planned for dinner, and some things came up and I didn't get home til 3pm!! I was freaking out thinking I'd never be able to get a decent roast in 2/3 hours. I have an XL that I use a lot for stews and soups and roasts and whatnot, but I always do a slow cook. Just followed what you did and popped the top off about ten mins ago. OOOOMG, It's totally good! Maybe not QUITE like a good 6+ hour cook, but it definitely does the job!! Thanks again for helping me save my dinner!

Need recipe for carne this is a shredded form of meat with Mexican spices used to make borritos. Need to come up with correct process for doing this. Two words, natural release. Quick release will toughen the meat more than needed

    • @NothinButSmoke
      @NothinButSmoke  8 лет назад

      Reuben Dunn ok cool. Will remember that for the next time. Is that for all meats

    • @grizzlyadamsmith6038
      @grizzlyadamsmith6038 7 лет назад

      Don't be rediculous,....quick release or natural release,...no different...meat is cooked great regardless..just eat it..

    • @adamholt2480
      @adamholt2480 7 лет назад

      not really, quick release stops the cooking process pretty quick, where as natural release may add an additional 1 to 15 (or more) additional cooking time since it's still heated and under pressure.
      If you look at some recipes you'll see where they specify quick release or natural release, it's for a reason.

    I hope that by now, Bobby has learned to use a pot holder or oven mitt to release the steam with. Also, I usually use the button for browning to sear the meat on all sides before setting it to cook the roast. It's also great for cooking a roast or whole chicken during the summertime when you don't want to heat up the whole house by having the oven on.

    • @NothinButSmoke
      @NothinButSmoke  8 лет назад

      aaron marko Yes I have. Even though I'm a lil bit quicker to the draw now 😂. We gotta try your searing technique thanks for sharing.

    I'm going to share this vid w/ the women in my family, that I talked into buying the PPCXL.. i don't think they understand how it works or they're scared of it, I was too & giggled when he released the pressure, it seems SO scary & just is NOT.. LOL. I am obsessed w/ mine...I never had interest in making the "old fashioned time consuming oven lasagna" so I tried the one that's in the cookbook that was enclosed w/ pressure cooker & that's what really knocked my socks off! I have a brand new stove that I rarely use, my PPCXL is missing one handle from a hard fall, I don't care... still use it all the time! Thnx for the vid... we need more electric pressure cooker vid recipes!

    Was this 3 lb roast? I recently purchased this Power Pressure XL and I have tried two roasts so far, but the roast is still very firm and not falling apart. Do I simply need more time, or did someone suggest that a quick release of the steam is bad for the cooling on the roast?

    • @NothinButSmoke
      @NothinButSmoke  7 лет назад

      Mike Peters hey mike i think you should try more time. I did a pork shoulder a few months back and had the same problem. Don't be afraid to let it cook longer. I had a person comment that slow release it better but I really didn't see a difference in the two.

    I know it's your first time using it. but something like this you would want to brown your meat first. then just actually cook your meat for the 45 min then add your veggies. I'm sure your veggies in this were complete mush lol. but thats also just cooking 101.

    • @NothinButSmoke
      @NothinButSmoke  7 лет назад +3

      Cody Cobb Bro your completely correct. We did it again browning the meat and what a huge difference. Also adding the veggies later was a no brained. 👊🏾 Thanks
