    Power Pressure Cooker Pot Roast
    2 TBS olive oil
    3.5 lbs of chuck roast
    1.5 cups wild mushrooms sliced
    1.5 cups large chopped potatoes
    1.5 cup carrots, large chopped
    1.5 cup onions, chopped
    1 cup celery, chopped
    1 TBS soy sauce
    1 TBS steak sauce
    1TBS Worcestershire sauce
    2 TBS apple cider vinegar
    1/4 cup tomato paste
    1/3 cup dry red wine
    2 TBS garlic, chopped finely
    1 TBS tomato paste
    1/2 tsp cumin
    1 tsp thyme
    1/2 tsp rosemary
    1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
    1/2 tsp coarse ground pepper
    1 TBS butter (optional)
    1/8 cup heavy cream (optional)
    1 tsp orange rind (optional)
    1/4 cup chopped parsley (optional)
    Salt to taste
Instructions using Power Pressure Cooker XL:
    1. Take lid off the pressure cooker and plug it in.
    2. Press the chicken/meat button once and press the cook time selector once which puts the cooker at 40 minutes.
    3. The screen will go from all zero’s to flashing lights. The flashing lights mean it is now in browning/heat up mode. Let it heat up for about a couple of minutes, then add 2 TBS olive oil.
    4. Generously salt and pepper the meat and place it into the hot oil to sear. Sear all sides for a few minutes until nicely browned. Set the meat aside.
    5. Add the wine first, then the onion, celery, carrots and garlic. Let simmer for a couple of minutes.
    6. Put the meat back in and add all remaining ingredients.
    7. Put the lid on, making sure it is on fully and that the vent is on “pressure” and not “steam.”
    8. Now you get to relax while the Power Pressure Cooker builds pressure and starts counting down once it is fully up to pressure.
    9. Your pressure cooker will automatically turn to a warming mode when the timer is finished counting down. Now you can release the pressure by turning the valve to the “steam” icon. The pressure will release rapidly and in a minute or two, the lid will be able to be opened.
    10. Optional section: I like to reduce the sauce for a more concentrated flavor but you certainly don’t have to! Stir in the butter and cream then some orange rind. Throw some parsley in at the very last minute. You can add a slurry if you want a thicker sauce as well. All totally optional.

I have had my pressure cooker for about almost 5 years and I absolutely love it. I am about to start canning and was shopping for a pressure canning pot...all those years I hadn't realized I had a cycle for just that.... I am quite excited but a bit nervous cause I haven't seen any videos on canning in this pressure cooker...I am such a visual person...

This is a nice tool for the kitchen. I don't cook but love wonderful food. I am learning how to cook in this. I've had it for 2-years.I'm doing my recipes southern style in my cooker today. Cooking for 6-8 hours. After like you did I'll use the drippings to make a gravy mine more like a southern red eye. I left all my veggies whole. I will use this top cut roast for tacos for the next night... adding cilantro, avo and a good salsa. Very versatile doing a roast like this.I didn't know I could sear in the cooker. Thanks for that.

I bought a new Power Pressure Cooker XL and it was one of the best buys in my entire life. It is unbelievable how wonderful and easy it is to use. I will never let myself be without it from here on out. I use it every single day. I was even sick today and in a lot of pain and I cooked a meal in less than 10 minutes. I feel like my mother is here cooking for me. Good home cooked meals now that is easy. All the work is taken out. JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS COOKER..
I can't wait to can with it next.

I cooked a prime rib in my XL yesterday and it was amazing!! I was terrified to cook it in the pressure cooker because prime rib is expensive but I took a chance and have no regrets. I started cooking my turkey later than planned yesterday and I don't have a double oven so this pressure cooker was a life saver. It was done in 40 mins.

I just got my Power Pressure Cooker XL yesterday. Tonight I made a pot roast using raspberry wine and elephant garlic. It didn't take long for the house to be filled with the most wonderful smell. I love the fact that you can steam your vegetables while the meat is still in the pot as well. I can't wait to try some of my other favorite dishes. By the way, that pot roast was to die for. You should try using Arbor Mist Wines in you cooking. YUM !!!

@@noblehillministerprophet8689 Yes. In cooking, a slurry is referred to as 50% corn starch and 50% water whisked together. It's used to thicken alot of Chinese recipes or sauces in the West that require a gluten free alternative to a traditional french roux. (a roux is equal parts flour and fat)

Last Saturday we were in the grocery store and they had pork but roasts for $ 1.00 lb.
I picked up one. I seasoned it and put it on my Char-Broil Grill for about 1 1/2 hour.
I turned the middle burner off and put the two on each side so the temp of the grill was about 250-280 degrees.
I even poured some honey on the pork butt for flavor.
It cooked and cooked turning it maybe 2-3 times.
It was looking great. Then I put it into my 6 quart Power Pressure cooker for 40 minutes.
You talk about goood ! Man it came out fork tender !
I have one of those steamer baskets you see, the kind where you spread open and put into a 6-8 quart pot. It fits nicely into the Power Pressure cooker. I steamed some carrots, broccoli and squash for about 2 minutes each. The vegetables came out just right !
This fall I am going to get out my wood smoker and smoke/cook the roasts about 4 hours and then put them into the Power Pressure Cooker. The mesquite or pecan wood would really add the smoked flavor to the meat !

I had another brand of pressure cooker that I used and had great success with for several years. It still worked perfectly, so I gave it to a friend because I bought the Power XL. I chose it because it's a slow cooker/crock pot as well, and I upgrade from my 6-quart to the Power XL 8-quart. This is a great product. I have been thoroughly pleased and glad I made the switch. As for how much beef broth to use ... most pressure cooker models state to use a minimum of 1 cup of liquid. For me, I adjust the amount based on the volume of food I'm cooking.

Cont'd: to make sure there are no small seeds or other material to prevent the steam from being released. When cleaning, make sure the sink strainers are in place to make sure you don't lose a small part down the drain. I learned this the hard way. When cleaning the lid, the small silicone wheel which is on the float valve , disassembled and fell into the garbage disposal. It's only about a half inch in size, but with out it, makes the whole unit inoperable . The parts list shows it would cost 9.99 to replace. Luckily, I was able to retrieve it before turning on the disposal. Other than that, I have come to really enjoy cooking in the pressure cooker. Lots of experiments, but the food does come out good. Hope this helps.

I'm so sorry and sad to hear the negative comments about the pressure not building. I got my 8 qt PPC XL at Costco for $89 & I LOVE it! I haven't had any problems with pressure not building. Did you have problems getting the lid on correctly, AND did you rotate the pressure valve to the circle with a dot in the center to line up with the arrow outer ring? Which means the pressure is building.
If you dialed it to the picture of the "steam" escaping, that is to RELEASE the steam! (That would make it NOT build up steam! Maybe you had it on that and your steam escaped! (Sounds like it to me.) Hope you try that before sending it back. I'm really impressed with mine, and I've been using nice, name brand pressure cookers for over 35 years, and watched my mom use hers for 20 before that. She loved hers and made wonderful dishes in a fraction of regular cooking.
I hope you that had problems with the pressure not rising, try the valve tip I suggested. It's all a learning curve. This unit is NOT the typical pressure cooker we've used for years and years, and simply putting the lid on and popping the pressure regulator on the valve. Did you see J Donnelly demonstrate the set up for starting the steam & pressure? Try that. Good luck! Hope it works. Sleepless in Seattle ~Tammy

Also check there's enough liquid in the bottom of the pot. No liquid means no steam and therefore no pressure. If you pour in the beef stock, you should be good. If you don't use the stock, at least add water.

Just thought I would add a couple of tips . Even though I am still a novice at this. I have learned the following: The more food and liquid you put in the pot, the longer it will take to get up to pressure. Some people have complained that it takes forever or won't come to pressure at all. Reason could be that the knob setting is not on the pressure mode or the float valve on the lid handle is missing its small silicone wheel which holds the stud in place and locks when pressure is achieved. Refer to page 7 in the Manuel. Also there were complaints that pressure would not release when the knob was turned, thus being unable to turn the lid to open cause it is still under pressure. If that is the case, just turn the cooker off by pressing the warm button to turn the heating element off or simply unplug it. The unit will de pressurize naturally over a period of 10 minutes or so and the lid can then be turned to open. When open check the stem to which the knob is attached to make sur

Thanks for the advice and instruction. It's been years since we used it...our house was flooded by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. This is one of very few things we could salvage from the flood. We bought a new home, and the pressure cooker has been boxed away. I'm going to use it tomorrow night, so I was trying to get refreshed. Thank you.

    • @renata777777
      @renata777777 7 лет назад

I have the regular "Power Cooker" and when it's plugged in, it comes "on" in the sense that it is ready for you to program it. There is a Cancel/Keep Warm button that toggles between off and keep warm. You don't have to unplug it to shut it off. When it is finished cooking, it automatically shifts to "keep warm" and when you press Cancel/Keep Warm it will switch off. I am presently keeping mine plugged in all the time because it is difficult for me with my arthritis to plug and unplug it. It fits very snugly into the power receptacle.

Has anyone else had problems with the cooker getting pressurized? I checked the gasket, closed the steam vent, and put the lid on correctly and after 17 to 20 min. it still hasn't reached enough pressure (I can still take the lid off). I take the lid off and re-check it and then try again...finally on the 3rd time it gained pressure and cooked the food. I have had this problem on two different Power Pressure Cooker Pro machines several times each. When I call they just asked if I would like to try again...ghrrr!

+Terri C. I just got mine today from QVC. Read instructions and "Cured" it following the instructions given using the "Canning Mode." I was very displeased that it took over 30 minutes for it to build the pressure. Then I attempted to do a chuck roast. Followed all instructions and quess what? After and HOUR the cooker has not built enough pressure to start the 40 min. countdown. I'll be returning it back!

+Terri C. mine has always pressured up after just a few minutes? I have been so happy with mine, as I don't have much time to cook, and to go from frozen or thawed to dinner time in less than an hour is so nice. This is my first pressure cooker.
