Power Pressure Cooker XL Review

  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Power Pressure Cooker XL 6 Quart. LINK TO Power Pressure Cooker XL: amzn.to/2sfRUGB The unit is 13 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 11.5 inches deep. The cord is 35 inches long and using an extension cord is not recommended.
    This is the lid with a pressure seal and vent valve. For safety, there won’t be pressure build up if the lid is not closed correctly. Also, the lid can only be opened when all pressure is released.
    There is a rubber gasket under the lid. Turn to open the lid. The inner pot is nonstick and has a max line. Don’t fill above it. It holds 6 quarts and has markings. Also, if you’re cooking rice or beans, don’t fill more than halfway since they’ll expand during cooking.
    The stainless steel base has a control panel with seven modes of cooking. The different modes are listed in the manual with their cook times. All seven modes have a default time. You can press the cook time selector button and choose medium or well for longer cooking times. So if you’re cooking a stew, the default setting is 10 minutes. You can change to medium which is 30 minutes or high which is 60 minutes. When you’re making rice, us the selector to choose white, brown or wild rice. The time adjustment is what you use to set a specific time for cooking with any mode. The manual has a cooking chart for meat and vegetables and the amount of liquid to use. You can also cook frozen foods in this unit without defrosting, just add 10 minutes extra for meat.
    Included is a measuring cup, ladle, steamer tray and condensation collector. The collector goes on the back of the cooker. Empty this after each use. There is an instruction manual, recipe book with recipes for meat, soups and stews, rice and desserts. A canning manual with recipes is also included.
    When you first get the unit, wash the pot, lid and gasket (pull it out of the lid) with warm soapy water and dry. Put the pot in the base, fill ⅔ full with water. Put the gasket in the lid, put the lid on and turn until you hear a click. Rotate the pressure valve to the lock position. Attach plug to the cooker and then plug into a wall outlet. Press Canning mode and set for 10 minutes.
    When the cycle is finished, using tongs, rotate the pressure valve to the open position. This allows the pressure to release quickly. Open the lid holding onto the black handle. The steel parts are hot. Let the unit cool to room temperature and discard the water. Rinse the pot and dry it. Now you can start cooking with this unit.
    You saw how this pressure cooker xl performed. If you want to give this pressure cooker a try, I’ve put a link in the description below.
    You can use the unit to sautee onions and brown meat before you make a stew. The lamb was moist and absorbed all the flavors in the gravy. The rice was cooked perfectly at about the same or faster than some rice cookers. There was no issue with the unit coming up to pressure and releasing it. I hope you found this review useful. Share this video and subscribe for reviews of products you use every day. Thanks for watching. I’ll see you next time :)

    I have had mine for over 2 years and it's one of the best things you can have in the kitchen.
    You don't have to heat the whole kitchen up in the summer.
    I even took it to work the other day and made lunch for the employees.
    They think I am a hero now !

    Update on the new models!
    The older models had a button on top that said "cook time selector"
    The New models that have the red pressure indicator on top of the lid says instead of "cook time selector" now says "Saute"
    Which means you cannot use the big round button on front to change the cooking time. If you press it and put the lid on it will beep at you and flash "LID".
    You have to select what you want to cook and immediately press the minute button to reach the cooking time.
    I called customer service and got a person in the US that explained this. She said the "Saute" button on from is for searing the food and not jump to the cooking time.
    My new pressure cooker doesn't automatically seal up for pressure cooking so I have to jiggle the lid to make it quit letting steam out the vent hole on the lid handle.

    Hi on top of the handle there is a little hole should it be makin some steam noise while cookin for 40mins?

    • @roguemotorcycle
      @roguemotorcycle 3 года назад

      That hole should not make any noise while cooking. It's the pop valve that springs up under pressure and prevents you from opening the lid. Mine used to pop up automatically but with time it stopped doing that so do what I do and push in the chrome pin on the side of the lid once you close the lid, this allows free movement. It's a cheap design that hangs up with age. Other than that I have no other issues.

    Hi,
    Thanks so much for posting this review.
    I have the 5L version and the manual says to pour 3.5L of water in. I selected the Stew 30 minute option but it just sat there for 45 minutes not counting down from it's 30 minute timer.
    For a lot of that time steam was venting out of the top part of the closed valve, so I eventually just switched it off worried that it might explode. The valve was definitely closed though.
    How long please did it take your pot to start it's countdown in your video? And was steam coming out of your valve before it pressurised?

    • @bestkitchenreviews
      @bestkitchenreviews  5 лет назад

      Hi, you're welcome! It took 35 minutes for the unit to reach pressure (and then count down) during the test run. It was set to Canning for 10 minutes.There was no steam venting out. 😀

Other than that...it's a great cooker.

    • @wildwestunlimited
      @wildwestunlimited 6 лет назад +1

      Yes!... I have the same issue. The "Vessel" as they call it (the pot itself) is NOT a non-stick coating. It looks like a non-stick coating but it is not. I cook spaghetti in it and it BURNS badly on the bottom every time! It's really hard to clean the bottom of the burned pot! If I knew what I know now about this pressure cooker, I would have bought a different brand, one that has a shinny vessel and not one that has a look-alike non-stick coating.

    I was considering buying this Power Pressure Cooker from watching the infomercial on tv
    I did not because I bought the Power Air Fryer first at Sam's Club. It worked fairly well I did
    A few steaks and ribs which turned out pretty good. The disappointment came after cleaning
    a few times. The copper coating, of the cooking basket, if it is copper started flaking off and the finish in the tub where
    The basket sits in also started flaking off. So the quality of the appliance is sub par convincing
    Me not to purchase the Power Pressure Cooker. It may be a good product, but because they're
    other product didn't meet my satisfaction, I would not buy this one. I did however purchase
    the Instant Pot pressure cooker after I googled electric pressure cooker reviews, and most every one liked it the best due to the stainless steel pot. It has worked flawlessly
    It was about $30/40 dollars more, but the quality I believe is superior. When considering making
    a purchase of anything, check the reviews of the item and those of they're competitors.

      I wish I had done some homework. I have not been able to set a cooking time on this thing and I wish I had bought the Instant Pot instead.

      Please don't let your experience with the fryer scare you away from the pressure cooker. I have had my pressure cooker for about 3 years and don't know how I lived without it. Don't believe all you see on TV, they are professional chefs selling a product. You will find out how it will best serve you when you start using it. It took me a few times using it to realize I should use my own recipes not the ones in the cookbook. The apple pie is horrible, don't waste your time or ingredients. I just thought I would tell you that. I hope you will find this information useful.

    Very nice demo but please don't buy this product! I did and was very happy with the cooking results. I bought mine on 9/2/18 and used it 3 times the first week. I stored it in my closet in it's original box because I don't have cabinet space for it. Brought it out last week and cooked 2 pork roast, "for pulled pork" which came out great. That's a total of 5 times using it. Brought it out again this morning and rinsed the pot, to cook 2 more. I notice shiny spots in the bottom of the pot. On a closer look the coating was coming off in several places. I only used wooden or plastic made for coated pans to remove or stir anything I had in the cooker. Never stored anything in it either. I'm over my 60 day warranty so they can't do anything to help me. I have 7 more roast to cook for a Benefit, guess I'll do it the old fashion way "takes 24hrs" in a crock pot. Guess I'll keep it for canning. My suggestion is to buy one with a pot that's not coated!
