This pressure cooking is beyond amazing. I've had so many because we use them so often that we run them to the ground. If you'd even slightly interested in getting this, just go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Most women hate getting an appliance for Christmas but my wife asked me for the Pressure Cooker XL for Christmas last year. She (we, love it) I cook with as much as she does. Yes, it definitely is all it says it is however, after using it for a year I have a few tips and ideas about using the pressure cooker. First I love being able to brown right in the same pot as I'm cooking in but that bottom that you really liked the look of will not stay that nice. The bottom of the pot is pock-marked and no deglazing will get all the bits off the uneven bottom. You will have to scrub, and I mean hard to get it clean. Then it will start to discolor and some of the coating will start to come off leaving the bottom looking rough. Next the pressure relief valve icons showing the vent opened or closed rubbed off. I just took a permanent marker and marked on the lid where the closed and release points are located. Sometimes when needing to brown meat in batches as to not overcrowd the pot it is necessary to unplug the pressure cooker to reset to browning. There isn't enough time (sometimes) to brown multiple batches. I do like the way the lid comes part for cleaning. Moisture and juices will collect under the seal and the top of the lid and need to be cleaned. And when we bought ours we didn't get the chopper! (really didn't need it we all ready have two, or is it three?) But would've been nice to get more for your money. I'm new to your site. Your rice pudding recipe led me to your You Tube channel. I have subscribed and look forward to your recipes with the Pressure Cooker XL. I know you'll love as much as we do!
I've had mine for a year and just bought my mother in law one for Christmas. I think it's a great product and I've never had a single problem with mine.
I just browned my chicken in my Fagor Duo 10 qt. yesterday! As a matter of fact, I browned my veggies in all of that great chicken flavor, mmmm. I do it ALL of the time! The best part, in ten years after most of your buttons don't work and the electric pressure cooker has long since become a boat anchor, I'll still be using mine for searing, baking, cooking, canning, heck I can use it over a small camp fire if I want, now that's versatility!
Jack, 1 thing to remember, cooking times are slightly longer with electric pressure cooker due to lower pressure capacity, 10 lbs. typically vs 14 lbs stovetop pressure cookers.
Also, I just scored a Nuwave Pro Plus at a thrift store, new in the box, never used!! I'm so stoked to give that a try too... That's actually why I came to your channel tonight..
Great video jack, I've had the power pressure cooker xl for about 5 months and the company states that you can not use it as a pressure canner to can vegetables or any if you live above 2000 ft. I just want to let you know so no one gets sick. great job!
I just got 6 quart Power Cooker Pressure Cooker, so more videos for pressure cooking please. Already did steak, and chicken and rice since I got it; I'm so excited to use it for quick meal that normally take hours. Got mine at a yard sale $25!
I have seen this demonstrated on QVC but they are just trying to sell a product. I appreciate you demonstrating it Jack because I know I am going to get a totally honest review. Thanks Jack!👍🏻
Jack glad yours worked. I could never get mine up to pressure; it tells you in the manual for first time use to run it on the canning setting after filling the inside pot 2/3 of the way with regular water for 10 minutes. After trying for 2 hours straight nothing. Only the water steamed. It was my first time using it after I purchased it a year ago from QVC so it just sits on my table as an ornament.
Thanks for making this video. I just picked one up from goodwill (brand new!) for $16. Im looking all over youtube in order to learn about it before I start cooking.
Make sure not to forget the switch on the circle with the dot on it because the pot can explode if forgot. Need to set on steam releasing symbol. There have been reports of pot exploding. Be safe learn about products used.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: THE RELEASE KNOB IS NOT FLIMSY TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE NEVER USED A PRESSURE COOKER. IT'S SUPPOSED TO WOBBLE. ALL ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKERS HAVE THE SAME WOBBLE IN THEIR RELEASE VALVE. IT'S NOT BROKEN OR BUILT INCORRECT.
+Cooking With Jack Show being honest, how many times (about) have you used yours? I have seen mixed reviews on this one and I am not convinced enough for purchase. My 1966 Presto A403A leaks steam from the threads of the weight wobbler on the lid so I am searching for a new pressure cooker. I have searched for HOURS on the subject and wanting some true Honesty ,thanks.
just fyi, the bits of flavor that stick to the bottom of the pan is called a "fond". that's the yummy stuff that adds complexity to a dish like this. love the show. You can deglaze the pan (to get the fond up) with wine, water, or oil.
If you ever had one that never locked the lid you may have the silicone gasket on backward. After I finish my cooking I wash the cooking container, lid, gasket and aluminium separator the gasket fits on and then: I have taken a marks-a-lot and put a black line on the gasket so I know which way to put it on.
My only comment would be to do a slow/natural release, rather than a quick one, the meat tends to dry out a bit, even with the juice. I've the PPXL 8qt for over a year and am still impressed with it.
Pressure cooking is a very underutilized form of cooking. If more people knew what these things could do and how it can make their lives easier, they'd buy one in a second. I love mine.
Thanks SO VERY MUCH! I learned more from You than I Did the instructions Manuel! I was ready to trash the damn thing until I watched You! Even the chef who created it didn’t show it like You! What Did We EVER DO WITHOUT RUclips??? Thanks again!!❤😊😊😊
I bought a 6 quart one at Target before I had ever seen this on QVC, back when they had a former pro-wrestler as the "spokesman". I LOVE it and use it a lot. I make rice in it all the time (6 minutes for white rice). They also have a Brussels sprout recipe on their website that is great as well (soy sauce, rice vinegar, salt/pepper, & garlic) and it comes out perfect in like 4 or 5 minutes. Great system. I recently bought a cookbook dedicated to pressure cooking off of QVC that has some great recipes in it too that I'm going to try. Jack, one thing you have to try, since you're working on your Caribbean Jerk sauce. I bought some Lawry's Caribbean Jerk marinade. along with some jerk seasoning. I bought one of those big packages of chicken drumsticks, sprinkled the seasoning on it, put it in the pressure cooker, and then poured the marinade over it. 40 minutes later, it was so tender, the bones literally come right out. Soooo good. I've done it with their other marinades since. So easy and so tasty :)
+Cooking With Jack Show I actually ordered another pressure cooker from QVC, but an 8 quart of a different brand. They sent a different color so I'm exchanging it but it's supposedly very good too so I plan on firing up both at once. I'm a gadget junkie. Some days I'm using the following all at once: Ninja 4-in-1 multi-cooker NuWave Oven Pro Plus Power Pressure Cooker XL Haven't turned on my regular stove or oven in like 3 years :)
Watching you be happily eating made me smile. Thank you and God bless you ... I haven't smiled in a long time and your reviews are great. I really have enjoyed watching and I will finally be subscribing ... I like to watch several videos of someone before I subscribe, I like to see if the character remains the same throughout. You definitely won me over, thank you for doing what you do. From one chef to another, have a blessed day
i have a different 1 and i use mine a lot. mine didnt come with a nonstick coating nor a slap chop though it cooks the food nice and tender. havent really tried stuff like soups and stews but i really like making stuff like hard cooked eggs, steak and chicken in it.
I really enjoy your video's Jack. Love your dry humor too. I'm buying one of these, I'm thinking I'm going to get to 10 Quart one. Your video was the one that made me want to buy one. I was on the fence before this one! Nice job Jack!
Get the XL Pro ... There is no stupid valve to spin and lock or unlock. There is a simple switch that you flip to lock in the pressure and unlock. I don't think this type of pressure locking mechanism is in the newer models.
I had my 8 quart PPCXL for several months. Worked beautifully, used it 1-2 times a week. . Now I'm getting a short circuit sensor error message. Customer service noted the unit is defective to return it (at my expense) along with a $14.99 check. My total charge for the postage and the return would be close to $50.00. Beware. Still deciding what I should do.
Just looked at the website and they also have a 10 quart that can fit a turkey. Too bad they didn't send you that one so we could see you make a turkey. Maybe you could make a whole chicken to show us how it turns out.
Did you season the pan before using your pressure cooker? I just bought one and I read a review somewhere that step 1 is to season it by putting water in it with the canning setting. Supposed to help keep food from sticking. Wondering if you tried this or not and how necessary this step is.
great review. Will definitely keep this one in mind, being able to brown the meat instead of doing that on the stove and the keep warm function are interesting functions. Was the meat juicy? Could be just how the camera picked it up but it looked a bit dry
I am so happy you made this video!!!! seen this so many times but really wondered if it worked as they said, well I'm now going to get one but after I see you make the canning video :) love your videos Jack an keep up the great job :)
Best Investment ever! I'm not a gadget girl but this one is above the rest! thank you for the videos. I thinking I'm gonna try canning just because too LOL
Did you read the directions on how long it said to look the meat? I am just wondering because I thought when you pressed the meat button and it said 15 minutes I thought that was how long it was suppose to cook for. I am just asking because I have been thinking about getting one and that's how I thought they did it on tv. I could be totally wrong.
+CookingWithJack Can I make two suggestions? 1. Can you define food specific terms that you use your show in future episodes? You used the term Gameyness and I have no clue what that means. 2. You should review the Ninja Coffee Blender. I just got mine and I think it is absolutely great.
+Scheefinator ive never took a cooking class in my life and english is my third language and ive come across the term several times, its a common term. And also, google is your friend :)
Scheefinator This specific video is not an educational video. Further, it is, in fact, *your* job to look things up you do not understand. Do not be willfully ignorant.
"I didn't read the instructions because I want to brown it first." That doesn't make any sense. That's like saying "I didn't read the instructions on my blender because I want to use the pulse function first." Maybe I missed something. Love you Jack, not knocking you, I just thought it was funny that you said that. I love your channel and your reviews, I've got several products you've reviewed on my amazon wishlist.
You can brown meat in all these kind of pressure cooker. Do it in my wolfgang puck all the time but no on/off switch, not good if you leave it pluged in all the time
bruce e there IS an off switch. You just hit the keep warm button and the light turns off. At that point, it's off except for the timer display. I leave mine like that all the time. Also, removing the liner pot turns off the heating element.
I am so disappointed with my PCXL. Not that it doesn't work, but the fact that the teflon coating started coming off. I have NOT misused, burned, or used metal utensils in it. I THOUGHT by taking good care of it, it would last a long time. A lot of pressure cookers offer a stainless steel insert pot. This one? Heck no, and I got a (I won't say rude person) not very nice person on the live chat, when I asked about it. I will NEVER buy anything WHATSOEVER from this company again.
hi, I want one for Christmas but I've read many reviews about it sticking...the food I mean, sticking to the bottom. Do u hv that problem? Thanks, I've liked and subscribed!
why not do a review of the instant pot Duo or instant pot Bluetooth, the Bluetooth one has a semi mod/hack where you can do sous vide via the Bluetooth app on your phone.
I'm enjoying this video, thank you. I just acquired a Power pressure cooker and getting to know it better. Can you show us how to adjust the time to say 37 minutes or say 75 minutes.I haven't been able to do that yet.
It just might be the case where 30 min. is the most you can do initially. I have an earlier model and when I cooked a pot roast I set for 30 min. then when it beeped to end 30 min. I added the rest of the extra time (5-10 min. more).
Jack I was going to ask you if you would do a video on the power pressure cooker xl and you beat me to it. so with the video you just did I'm surly going to go and grab me one.
I have a question for you Jack. We watched this video and we decided to purchase this PPC XL. We've used it three times without any issues, except that even though we thoroughly disassembled it for cleaning, the gasket retains food odor. We use dish soap and water and a brush to no avail. We called Tristar customer service which I believe is off-shore if you know what I mean who never had any calls about this, they are sending us a new gasket. My question to you is, does your lid gasket have the same problem?
The smell will remain, l've soaked mine in vinegar and still have the oder. That being said, it does not, at least with me, get in the way of other foods.
+Reuben Dunn I called their Customer Service department (Off-Shore somewhere) and I told them about this, I was told they've never had anyone call about this issue before. They did however send me a free seal replacement. I have another pressure cooker from a different manufacturer that doesn't pose the same problem, so my guess is PPC-XL may be using a different material/compound in the making of this seal. But all in all just like you, it doesn't interfere with taste in other foods. Thanks Reuben for including your experience, happy to know its not just me or an isolated issue.
Thanks for the info, that it is good to know. So you said you have another cooker from a different manufacturer, can it do all the things that the PPC can? What brand is it?
Hi, Jack. That pressure cooker looks so KILLER! You are truly AWESOME at cooking and gadget reviews. Troy from T-ROY COOKS is another great RUclips cook that mostly specializes in southern cooking. I have a question: what's your favorite things to do at Christmas? Please let me know. I hope you and your family have a splendid Merry Christmas, Jack. See ya next week. ;-)
If the XL PRO people were on the ball they would answer all these questions that people are asking. The instructions are really hard to understand and have a lot of gray areas.
Can I ask l pressure canned some pinto beans in mason jars. When I took the mason jars out with the beans and didn’t seem to be much liquid in jars but they still sealed. Would that mean I need to put the lids on tighter or maybe I put too many beans in. If there is not much liquid and they sealed they are still shelf stable thanks hope you can help
O.K. VIDEO,....BUT FAILED TO SHOW SETTINGS ON WHAT TO PUSH TO START....JUST WENT TO RELEASE STEAM VALVE, AND TOOK OUT MEAT,,,, PLEASE ADVISE AS TO FRONT SELECTIONS,,,,THANX
Is it me or did that steam release knob thing look flimsy . if that brakes you might as well toss the whole thing. My wife had to have this thing called the As Seen on TV Turbo Cooker Pot or Pan ,it was said that you could do fried chicken with just a couple of teaspoons of olive oil, It had a handle on the lid that was kinda like that knob where you turn it and it let steam out. well like the second time it was used that knob thing fell apart into like 4 or 5 pieces , washers , rivets and what not. and you couldn't buy just a replacement lid, you had to send the whole thing back and they would decide if it was improperly used an replace the whole thing. I decided if it broke after its second use the heck with it and trashed it.
This pressure cooking is beyond amazing. I've had so many because we use them so often that we run them to the ground. If you'd even slightly interested in getting this, just go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I have owned 3 different Pressure Cookers. Keep giving them away and buying new ones. One of the best appliances I have.
Jack, 1 thing to remember, cooking times are slightly longer with electric pressure cooker due to lower pressure capacity, 10 lbs. typically vs 14 lbs stovetop pressure cookers.
My mother owns 1 of these and 1 from another brand as well.. She LOVES both of her pressure cookers... She uses them for EVERYTHING!!

+Ashley Branham nice job.

+Todd Dyer thank you. I will mention this warning
i have had mine since about the time you made this video I absolutely love it still use it today never had any problems with it works great
This looked interesting on the infomercial but I was waiting for someone I trust to review it. Thanks Jack for being that guy. Love your vids, Scott
+Aristocob my pleasure.
Quick tip: When you let the steam out, cover the hole with a dish towel or something to keep the steam and grease off your cabinets and windows
Good Tip !!! 😉😉
I just got 6 quart Power Cooker Pressure Cooker, so more videos for pressure cooking please. Already did steak, and chicken and rice since I got it; I'm so excited to use it for quick meal that normally take hours. Got mine at a yard sale $25!

+imari2305 call QVC even today and tell them. they should replace yours for you.
Hey Jack QVC only gives you 30 days to try any product and return it within that time frame. After that it's a done deal.
Hey delbomb3131 thanks for the advice. I actually called Tristar several times and either got a voicemail or no one answering at all.
imari2305 Hopefully they're just out for the hollidays or something. I hope your issue get's resolved.
Thanks so much. I really did look forward to using the product.

I got one of those, they work great. I like doing the corned beef brisket using the seasoning packet.

I purchased an off brand from menards two years ago same features and a lot cheaper I've never had a problem it works great
Not sure if. this is been mentioned but you conventional pressure cooker you can brown meat before pressure cooking...
I bought a 6 quart one at Target before I had ever seen this on QVC, back when they had a former pro-wrestler as the "spokesman". I LOVE it and use it a lot. moved to the south, but still hasn't learned the 2 ways to pronounce pecan. love this review vids!!! keep em coming!
Nice pressure cooker, but sticking to my Hawkins Contura for $$$ reasons. Love the lamp too.
I had my 8 quart PPCXL for several months. Worked beautifully, used it 1-2 times a week. . Now I'm getting a short circuit sensor error message. I just purchased the 10 Quart and I love it. Very user friendly!
Oh wow!! Where do you find one of these?
noticed the leg lamp. Awesome.
I have the Elite pressure cooker by Maxi-Matic. She's been around for 6 years love her.
Just looked at the website and they also have a 10 quart that can fit a turkey. Too bad they didn't send you that one so we could see you make a turkey. Maybe you could make a whole chicken to show us how it turns out.
Thank you Jack! I just bought it today. Im looking forward to see you cooking! Great video review

Yum, yum, yum...you've got Bambi on your bun...LOL
YO!!!!!!!! heyyy !I DINT GET A CHOPPERRRRR!!
Cool stuff Jack! I personally find it hard to believe that you got a Slap Chop-like product with the pressure cooker.
+Hawker5796 i know, right?!
great review. Will definitely keep this one in mind, being able to brown the meat instead of doing that on the stove and the keep warm function are interesting functions.
Was the meat juicy? Could be just how the camera picked it up but it looked a bit dry
+Vincent Wisse I should have cooked it 45 min to rare or med rare. I did med and it was very tender but could have been more moist. My bad.
+Cooking With Jack Show sorry jack but that was NOT medium, that was well done...
do you get to keep the XL? if you do hope to see more viedos with this XL. please make a canning video. Thanks
+luv2craftcards yes I get to keep it and yes I'll do more videos with it including canning.
Can you do more recipe video for the pressure cooker?
I am so happy you made this video!!!! seen this so many times but really wondered if it worked as they said, well I'm now going to get one but after I see you make the canning video :) love your videos Jack an keep up the great job :)
Best way of cooking fast and easy.
Thank you
the cooker looks well built... the little knob for pressure or release steam seems really cheap though
Best Investment ever! I'm not a gadget girl but this one is above the rest! thank you for the videos. I thinking I'm gonna try canning just because too LOL
Merry Christmas Jack, I heard mix reviews on this item, with that I'm interested in seeing your canning review.
I'm buying minr this Friday

Loving your videos, Jack! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
well done Jack, that looked so good. that cooker looks great
Looks like I gotta have one!
That seems amazing where can I get one
I wouldn't mind seeing you do a canning video.
Jack do a review of the "Perfect Cooker." I bought one and not one recipe turned out.
looks so good I dont use alcohal but looks good I just got one last week made a stew for start I want to make spareribs do you have a good receipe
What does this have over the Instant Pot Duo? Looks pretty much like the same machine.
+CookingWithJack Can I make two suggestions?
1. Can you define food specific terms that you use your show in future episodes? You used the term Gameyness and I have no clue what that means.
2. You should review the Ninja Coffee Blender. I just got mine and I think it is absolutely great.
+Scheefinator Google terms you don't know. It's a pretty common term.
David Jaquith Lol no. An educational cooking show, should define niche specific terms.
+Scheefinator ive never took a cooking class in my life and english is my third language and ive come across the term several times, its a common term. And also, google is your friend :)
Scheefinator Except that this was not an educational cooking show. It was a product review.
Scheefinator This specific video is not an educational video. Further, it is, in fact, *your* job to look things up you do not understand. Do not be willfully ignorant.
excellent review & results!!!😊👍👍👍
walmart has them on sale for 59.00
Great pressure cooker Jack! Wish I could afford one. The meat came out beautiful! TFS & have a great weekend! :))
I just got one for christmas, life is good...
Merry Christmas Jack and family!
+Sherri Williams you too Sherri. Hope your Christmas is very blessed.
Jack you traveling this Holiday or staying at home?
This is the machine I have, and I LOVE IT!!!!
I just got one of those I cant wait to use it pressure cooker :)
Your awesome Jack!!! I just bought one of these after watching this :)
Jack, are you still using this? QVC has the 8 qt on sale and on 4 easy pay. Just wondering if you still use it or have moved on?
He has a nice voice. I'm gonna purchase one.
when will there be another product review? because I just saw a red copper pan for $19.99 and don't know how I feel about it.
hi, I want one for Christmas but I've read many reviews about it sticking...the food I mean, sticking to the bottom. Do u hv that problem? Thanks, I've liked and subscribed!
Ci got one for Christmas, how do you set the timer for the time you want. Like you did for 55 minutes
+Lonell Martin If you go to 1:42 you should probably press the Time Adjustment button after choosing one of the preset options
A giant shepards pie! Try that jack :)
Yes can some strawberry preserves.
why not do a review of the instant pot Duo or instant pot Bluetooth, the Bluetooth one has a semi mod/hack where you can do sous vide via the Bluetooth app on your phone.
I see you had a Major Award featured in the background.
I added the rest of the extra time (5-10 min. more).
hehehe. Reminds me of the I Love Lucy episode of vitameatavegamin - "it's so tasty too, tastes just like candy" as she struggles to get it down. ;)
Jack I was going to ask you if you would do a video on the power pressure cooker xl and you beat me to it. so with the video you just did I'm surly going to go and grab me one.
+Terrence Dorsey enjoy yours when you get it.
+Cooking With Jack Show oh trust me I will, I enjoy cooking so it will be a great investment.
See ya next week. ;-)
+Byron Chandler thanks for your kind words and Merry Christmas to you.
0:43 he definetly said crackpot
If the XL PRO people were on the ball they would answer all these questions that people are asking. The instructions are really hard to understand and have a lot of gray areas.
Can I ask l pressure canned some pinto beans in mason jars. When I took the mason jars out with the beans and didn’t seem to be much liquid in jars but they still sealed. Would that mean I need to put the lids on tighter or maybe I put too many beans in. If there is not much liquid and they sealed they are still shelf stable thanks hope you can help
excellent video. thanks
Will you fry chicken , like KFC does
This video is freaking awesome
COSTCO has these $20 off with free shipping (ends today) for $39. I wanted to check reviews.
"Who ever heard of a pressure cooker that let's you brown the meat?"
Literally every single stovetop pressure cooker can do that.
How did you know how long to cook it?
I love mine its the best thing i ever bought
ok now I got to use mine. Fry something too
