Are you sure that is a catalpa? We had one, but I see them everywhere around here, but not one has had leaves that huge, and they bloom almost constantly. The blooms resemble a foxglove.

I'd say in between. Usually pretty light but definite and nice. More pronounced at peak and on a sunny day...
