About us: At the end of July, 2021, after a long time of hoping, dreaming, and planning, we sold or gave away almost everything we owned and left the United States to begin our journey with four children as an expat family. We moved to Leipzig, Germany, a beautiful city in the state of Saxony. This is our story.

Great that you did this video whilst on an ICE-journey Yes, the ICE might be a little late at times, but as soon as one has boarded, the ride is awesome.
It will get one into most European downtowns. I love DB, despite the delays... as if a 15 minute delay changes ones life!❤😂

Funny story, our train was a little late and caused us to miss our connection, so it can be frustrating, but it is still my favorite way to get around!

Really lovely to hear from you and your family again. Also wonderful that you all seem settled and like life in Leipzig. Keep your videos coming, I love them. You have a slightly different style presenting your content which I enjoy. I also really enjoy your and your family’s honesty. Always seems like the genuine thing which is so refreshing.

We are moving to Leipzig next month, we added it to our list after watching your videos and planning our move to Germany. Can you please recommend neighborhoods and the schools that your kids love? We have a 6 and 11 year old who don't speak German yet and have to find a schools that offer the German as a second language integration class, we will probably look for it flat based on the school. Any advice you can offer, please. I hope Malaga finds you well!

Hi MJ! Been watching your videos for the past couple of weeks and found your channel so helpful for a family possibly moving to Leipzig too.
I do have a question for you, you and your wife mentioned church and community. As a family not knowing anyone (family or friends there) where did you start to meet people and make these friendships? It’s also important for our family to settle into a great, sound, church so if you have any recommendations I’d appreciate that!
    Warm regards, Ellie

Hi Ellie! Check out C3 Home. Amazing church and amazing people. Service is Sunday afternoon at 16:30 in the Ring Cafe. Not sure if you speak German yet, but the service is all in German. But most of the people also speak English and will welcome you with open arms!

Can you imagine? Germans complain about the public transportation. Isn't it ridiculous?
"Jammern auf hohem Niveau!" or a snobby kind of complaining.
Yes, the Deutsche Bahn has a problem: A pretty jammed railroad network. Due to the big amount of different private train providers of freight and passenger trains.

I think, as Germans, we expect thingd to be perfect, including the DB. 'perfection' is a goal though, not a place you can reach. So we prefer to talk about the missing steps, rather than the height we may have already reached. Done talking, we get into our car, reach the Autobahn and wait in a 'Stau' for the next half hour, complaining about the DB being ten minutes late ...

Those who are coming to Germany ask for German Niederlassung in 2 years. And passport if you want to stay in Germany in 3 years. Be confident and do not get scared from these stupid Germans. You are wasting your precious time of your life, you have the right to ask for the security of your stay. They are exploiting your skill, time, effort, to improve their economy. Then you have the right to ask for visa security at least. They cannot have both eat and have the pie both at the same time. Trust me they are ruthless in terms of their expectations.
