I thought the bolster was metal and didn't know the other side was plain black. That would have been a huge disappointment if I bought one.
I have an old Benchmade CQC7 tanto that I carried until the scales were worn smooth, and I didn't think it was safe to use anymore.

Nice review bro. I have the blacked out tanto and absolutely love it. I'm not big on lanyards but I put an emerson skull clip and Emerson skull lanyard. It just makes the knife look complete. Going 2 be getting my 3rd protech soon

Hey man I like the channel! I was hesitant on the Emerson but I dig it more now

Protech has been very impressive to me lately. That blade finish is sick.

Yeah I think we've both been on a bit of a Protech kick haha, but they deserve it!

Very cool! Yeah I have the grey g10 with a two tone tanto blade that’s chisel ground! And I definitely like your blade better! I think it would look awesome with my grey g10 scales haha! Awesome review as always!

The tanto was the original Emerson. And for the longest time they were all chisel ground. I have quite a few cqc7, 15 super, 8, super. If he’s have gone to frame lock when the strider craze hit he’s be huge now. Mtc

I really care about the steel. That being said, I'm so sick of 20cv. I really like elmax and s35 because I can sharpen it was easier and the edge still lasts a while.

Pro-tech's 20cv is the best in the industry imo due to their proper heat treat range. I have the emerson cqc-7 in 20cv and it holds an edge just as long as my spy27 and s45vn blades.

Have you tried tightening down the pivot since this video? I'm looking at picking up one of these but one of my biggest pet peeves is blade play and I think if mine had that I would return it.

Almost all button deployed autos will have blade play. The ones I've found to have the least amount of blade play are actually the Doug Ritter Hogue autos and a close 2nd is the emerson cqc-7. It has the slightest bit of side to side but you still can crank down on the pivot and eliminate that blade play and still have a reliable action that's just a tad bit slower on deployment.
