This one took me a while to fully appreciate, but after that- WOW!! This band has forced me to become a more active listener, in order to capture all the organized chaos that they serve up to us masters and princesses. Giovanni doesn't really unfold until maybe the third or fourth listen, at least for me, and then I begin in a very small way with my limited musical knowledge, to understand the genius of Kanami. Our Mozart.
I'm from Irving and I was at the Dallas show in 2022. It was Miku's birthday and it was unbelievable. I've seen most of the greats from the '70s through the '80s but I've never seen anything like Band-maid!
Excellent, thorough, analysis! You’ve got my subscription, sir. Best rhythm section out there, period. One of the best-and tragically underrated-front women in rock and metal. A “pigeon-of-all-trades” who adds so much to what we see and hear that it’s hard to quantify. And one of the best lead guitarists who’s also a genius composer. I always mention Kanami in the same sentence with Tony Iommi when there’s any discussion of best riff-makers. What a band!
Welcome back,Steve, and thanks for a great reaction ! I considered that some people prefer the instrumental version. However... Saiki can't be denied ! 🤯
Thanks, coach, great commentary as usual. Giovanni is an amazing song from Band-Maid and the fertile brain of Kanami. Although I couldn't quite wrap my head around it at first, it's now absolute S-tier for me. Even God tier.
There was no crowd. Saiki's real power feeds back from real, exited audience. Her vocal range is great, but not insane and yet she has such an amazing breathe control and technique on top of her ability to channel emotion to the music. Actually I think they performed almost entire catalogue from Unseen World album at The Day of Maid concert this year, along with other recent songs, this time in front of large crowd. I heard the performance was amazing. Saiki's vocal best ever, Miku really showing her edge as a rhythm guitarist and the rest goes without saying. I love the part where Saiki and Miku singing ah, ah, ah, ah in unison, accentuating Akane's jazzy drums and Misa's bluesy funky bass dansing around them. ❤ When you listen to them, they are all part of the rhythm section, making the drum sound even more fun and thus the music sound even more rhythmically interesting.
Great reaction and this is one of my all time favorites, an exceptional masterpiece and playing it live is just amazing. When I first got Unseen World and was amazed with each song and finally getting to Giovanni, I was worn out and this one, then Black Hole as the last song, fried my brain. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Band.
Band-Maid have actually played several shows in Texas. I'm not sure where you are in the state, but I've seen them in Dallas and Houston, and they have also played in Austin. As someone who grew up in the 80s on that decade's rock/hard rock/heavy metal and having seen many of the era's standouts in concert in their primes, I can honestly say that Band-Maid beats all of them live (and in the studio).
If you set your Peloton machine to the pace of this song, you would get a full 30-minute workout in 4 minutes. Jeez, I felt like I was biking the Alps with this one.
@@80mtn Great to hear...For some reason I'm completely off Ryan Mear's Livestreams and chat. I was worried NONE of my chat was posting. Thanks for noticing.
@@frankandre4385 Yeah. That's a thing that's been happening. I can't figure it out. It used to be when you posted links or referenced other websites, but now it just seems random for everybody. Like you have to go back and check you're still there. 😕
from JAPAN. I always enjoy listening to your reactions. I think you really understand the essence of BAND-MAID very well. As one of the fans in Japan, I am very happy. Just a little information, BAND-MAID will be releasing a new album "Epic Narrativs” on September 25, 2024. Please look forward to it. Thank you for loving BAND-MAID.
This song skirts heavy progressive rock. It's great to see this live as I don't believe I've ever seen a live video of it although I have the song on disc. Thanks for playing it. Best rock band on the planet.
On top of everything else they do musically, just memorizing and playing all these songs flawlessly is amazing! On top of all that the mastery of their instruments and the music on top of the performance is awesome!

Now the instrumental version is a must! Almost a different song!

I remember immediately- Kanami mostly solo's for the whole song. Love the jazziness in some sections and the dissonant vocals bits.
I love the "White Room" Instrumental version of this.
Band Maid is my favorite band for the last 10 years! This band is amazing! Thanks for your great reaction!
Now there's some mighty impressive progressive hard rock for ya! For fun, check out the instrumental version. Thx, Coach!

THE best Hard Rock band in the universe. And in any parallel ones too.
When King Crimson plays catchy songs, it becomes like this.

Wow, one of the most thorough breakdowns I've heard in a long time. Your words are an honor to the band. Much respect sir.
Thank you so much. I really try to do the bands that I review/react to justice and be through!
Glad to see you’re still supporting our Maids! 🍺🥴🤘🏻
